Portland is one bad basketball team. They would be totally abysmal if they didn't have Randolph. Still, a great 2nd quarter for us. We haven't had much success at the Rose Garden (pretty much like every place out west), but I'll take the half that we had. 24 more solid minutes and we'll be 2-1 on this trip.

SIU and Creighton should be locks. Missouri State should also be considered pretty close to a lock. But unfortunately, you're probably right that the Valley will only get 3 bids. But we do have a chance to have our highest seeding in a tournament ever this season and that's really all I care about. If we can win the regular season title, win the tournament, and win our game against Butler, we could be a 4 seed come March.

HUGE win for SIU today as the Salukis took down Wichita State, 54-46. Randal Falker battled the stomach flu, but still had 13 and 8, including two big FT's in the final minute which iced the game. 19-5 overall, 10-3 in the conference. We went 2-0 this week, so hopefully a top 25 ranking will head our way on Monday.

Make a case-who should have made it from the Bulls? I can't see anybody who could beat anybody out that got picked for the reserves. Gordon definitely deserved to make it and Deng could've made it too, but I understand Deng not making it. There were two Pistons that made it, two Wizards (both very deserving, so I won't say anything about that), and two NETS that made it. How can two Nets make the All-Star Game? Kidd's had a good year, but Carter hasn't really been as good as he usually has been this season. Gordon deserved to make it over VC and probably one of the Pistons as well. Carter has more points, rebounds, and assists per game than Gordon. But does a team with the record that NJ has really deserve two All-Stars? I look at it as an individual award. I don't think team record should be much of a factor in selections. To each his own. I think it should be a combination of the two.

It won't keep the pricetag down. Gordon and Deng are still going to ask for max deals. Did it hurt Tyson at all when he made a grand total of 0 ASG appearances?

I hope this is as good as his career gets. Good luck with that. Kelvin Torbert Bracey Wright, it has happened before. That said I don't think it will here. Or Frank Williams? Uh...what? Frank was one of the best players Illinois has seen. Sure he didn't have success in the NBA, but he was a great college player. Bracey Wright was supposed to be one of the best players in all of college basketball and he was nothing but a constant disappointment. To throw Frank Williams in that list is kind of a joke.

Also, the 3 guard lineup REALLY needs to go. It worked a couple of years ago, but other teams are very aware of what we're going to do now. I really hope the rest of the roadtrip doesn't go like this...

So with the Bulls down by 2 with under 3 minutes left and after a timeout, Skiles runs a play for...PJ BROWN?!?!?!?! And Skiles has continuously played mindgames tonight with BG for some reason as he keeps taking out BG for every mistake he makes for Duhon. A very winnable game in the last couple of minutes becomes a 10 point Clipper lead with under a minute left.

SIU wins, 61-48. Randal Falker continues to establish himself as a monster in the Valley with another double-double; this time 19 and 14. The Salukis travel to Wichita State for a Saturday afternoon game on ESPN2. A win on the road in Wichita would be huge for our chances at winning the regular season crown.

SIU hosts Indiana State tonight. Last time they came to C'Dale, they beat SIU, which ended the longest homecourt streak in the nation. Hopefully we don't overlook them again this season.

Rookie/Sophomore lineups were announced today and no TT or Thabo on the Rookie team. That's disappointing.

Illinois with a huge win as they defeat MSU 57-50. This team desperately needs to work on their FT's though. My God, I don't think I've seen a team struggle at the line as much as these guys did tonight.

"Solid" start for Illinois tonight. 18-11 Illini. But this game has been extremely ugly in the early going.
