  1. holliday, brendan ryan, ryan ludwick with runners in scoring position, joel pineiro, chris carpenter's health/performance, trever miller. but yeah they're better than people were giving them credit for. Ah, completely forgot about Pineiro. Not sure how I did that. Miller's a reliever and we all know how inconsistent they are. Carpenter was sort of due to be healthy for the majority of a season sooner or later. Holliday was obviously going to be a better player than he was in Oakland (maybe not 1.300 OPS good, but good nonetheless) and I've sort of given up on judging Ludwick. I guess what I'm trying to say is they're winning with legitimate players this year compared to the last couple of seasons.
  2. Much apologies for the omission, sir. Southern Illinois (Flames's school) was also unintentionally omitted, I'm inserting their game as well. Thanks.. I think we'll be competitive with Marshall, so that should be interesting. I'm expecting big things this year from SIU because we won the conference last year with a very young team and this year, we return almost our entire defense as well as the majority of our skill players on offense. Would be nice to finally win something in my last year here. And like I said in the offseason thread; this has to be the year Illinois beats Missouri. If they don't...well, I don't know when it'll happen. Illinois' offense this year should be ridiculous if they just get a semblance of a ground game.
  3. He's going to have an excuse no matter what this year, which is an absolute joke. If he sucks, he can just say that his arm was never right in the first place.
  4. Besides Franklin (and Lugo I guess), the pixie dust thing really hasn't been that bad with the Cardinals this year. They're just a better team than us, and I actually respect that. Wake me up when Smoltz has a couple of those starts against legitimate teams. Again, he was going against the Padres who, last I checked, were one of the worst offenses in the entire league.
  5. T-Pain has his rendition of the Miami Dolphins fight song. It's T-Pain, but luckily it's fun-bad instead of just plain old bad.
  6. Another takeaway and another Rodgers TD pass, this time to Driver. I don't want to get too excited seeing it's only the preseason but there's a lot to be pleased about.
  7. Yeah, I'll say. Our offense has looked great too in both games so far. Can the season please start already?
  8. Didn't mean to rip on you, but I've never ever heard of someone being both a Cubs/Cards fan. And that comes from someone that lives in split territory for most of the year. If the Cubs/Cards rivalry isn't a "rivalry," I don't know what is.
  9. If that is a reference to me, wise guy, then you are half right. I'm a fan of BOTH. Not that it's any of your business. So you're not an actual fan k I guess I'm not. Not in your frame of reference. I don't live and die with either team. My sympathy's right now are with the Cubs. It's hard to watch sometimes (like this series) Don't get on my case because you can't understand my way of thinking. I never got on you for yours. Joke account. The avatar says it all. You can't be serious.
  10. Turned it on just in time to see Kosuke strike out. Typical.
  11. I've seen this picture plenty of times and every time, I count three guys wide open. Nice throw, jackass. It looks to me like the other guys are open and the corner is closing because the ball is well out of his hand. That has something to do with it. But Jennings (on the far left) has plenty of space between him and their DB's, and Grant is open in the flat with a ton of open field in front of him. I've tried to put that game, and that play, out of my mind.
  12. When's the last time we won a game that he announced?
  13. http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog?post=4415361&name=levine_chicago Oh God I hope not. Wrigley does not need a jumbotron. Call me old fashioned. Agreed. Wrigley is what it is because of the history. A massive screen makes it hard to feel the nostalgic of a place. What history? I get tired of Cubs fans saying don't change anything because of the 'history.' Now the nostalgia aspect, that's a valid point and I understand that argument why you wouldn't want to change anything. I just don't agree with it.
  14. I've been behind this idea for quite some time. I don't understand what's wrong with that.
  15. I'll try to find something to do from 3-6 today.
  16. hahahahahahaha Please tell me you're joking.
  17. I've seen this picture plenty of times and every time, I count three guys wide open. Nice throw, jackass.
  18. lololol, 1 hit against Randy Wolf. This is a new low.
  19. I agree with maybe 3 of those. I got about 5-6. It's ridiculous that we don't have a video board anywhere in the stadium. It's 2009, not 1959. The Cubs don't need a Jumbotron to "affect the energy level of the crowd." Cubs fans don't need huge "Get Loud!" signs to tell them when it's an important situation in the game and when the crowd needs to get loud. That I agree with, but I just want a replay board. Is that too much to ask for?

  21. Oh and there's no way the Nats get swept by both the Cubs and Cards next week. They'll find a way to win one of those games. You have to play the due factor in figuring out these series' too because the Nationals aren't just going to roll over and die for every team. And yeah, the Mets have sort of sucked this year but when's the last time the Cubs have swept them? Don't we have to face Johan in that series too? Good luck.
  22. Ok, that would be pretty sweet. I have to be honest, I sort of was thinking about calling up today when I heard that guy call as well. Anyway this is a good thread. It's ridiculous to see how many of Kosuke's outs in play are line drives. Same with Geo.
  23. I think it's probably best we just delete this thread and pretend this thing never happened.
  24. Suuuure....you can't make the game...riiiight. You're telling me you'd want to go to a meaningless Cubs-Pirates game? Have fun with that.
