  1. You shouldn't question Parcells like that. they were looking to pass on 4th down When everyone knew it.
  2. I know my offensive mind isn't close to Weis', but 3 straight runs? Where's the TE or your 6'5" WRs?
  3. Smith with the game's first stupid play. Take the sack. Or better yet, throw the ball or run with it after sitting in the pocket for 15 seconds.
  4. It was funny, just as they went to interview her, my affiliate lost the audio, so we didn't have to listen to her. Mine too.
  5. Cut the personal stuff. It's a difference of opinion. No need to make it more than what it is.
  6. Have I been under a rock? Quinn's sister (who isn't cute by the way) is dating AJ Hawk? That's great. I fear for Brady's health. I remember what John Lynch did to former Bears TE, John Allred (his brother in-law). Ironically enough, the last time I remember hearing about a sister of a star athlete dating the star athlete of an opponent's team was when Chris Quinn of Notre Dame's sister was dating IU's Jared Jeffries.
  7. So, basically Koufax is the only one of the ten year career guys you believe belongs? Pretty much so. A player has to do something extraordinary for me to let him in with just 10 years. I guess I can understand that. I too think that a player needs an extended peak to get in without the long career, but in my opinion, Belle and Kiner meet that. Both had an 8-10 year run in which they were an offensive force. I think there's more to a career than the peak. To me, longevity of being a "good" player is also important. For instance, I'd like to see Griffey hang around for a while and have a few more "good" seasons before leaving the game. Same thing with Thomas, Bagwell, etc. Not gonna happen with Bagwell. Doubtful with Thomas. Would you put either in right now? Griffey's in, and I think he will have a few more good seasons to make him a 1st ballotter.
  8. I personally would rather have Jerome Williams than Jose Contreras. Yeah, he was great in the 2nd half of the season, and I do think there's more in the tank, but Williams put up better numbers in 03 for the Giants, and is 10 years younger (at least) and gonna be cheap for the next 3 years.
  9. They reseed in the NFL after the 1st round. SO if the Bucs lose, the Bears play the winner of NYG/Carolina. I agree with you, so Go Bucs! Yeah, you're right. I forgot about that. But yeah, I'd rather play Tampa than the other 2.
  10. HA! Trickery! Gotta love it. BTW, I love the Bears draw. Winner of TB/Dallas/Washington. I'd rather face any of those teams over NYG and Carolina.
  11. Cocaine is a helluva drug.
  12. IU ended its non-conference season (minus a February tilt with UConn), 8-2 with a 24-pt win over Ball St. Again, IU held their opponent under 60 points. Last 4 games- IU defense- 54.5 PPG, 32.2 FGA, 20.7 3PTA, +30 boards. DJ White made a big splash last night with a season high 16. Killingsworth had foul trouble with a season low 7 points in 16 minutes. Vaden 6-6 from 3 (10 for last 10), with 22 points. Strickland 18 second half points. IU leads the nation in FG% at 54.1%, and runs circles around the nation at 49.2% from 3pt range. And unlike most major schools, IU will go exactly a month between home games (although, they've only left the state once). Bring on the Big Ten.
  13. This thread has become unnecessary. Lock.
  14. Clark Kellogg's take on the Big Ten
  15. Ahh the good ol' days. That was the greatest game ever. I believe the Cubs lost, but I have never watched any sporting event with less emotion. It was fun.
  16. I believe it. Beane got rid of Hudson and Mulder before even thinking of trading Zito. They probably want him as the face of this org. Who knows. Could be. But they aren't gonna have him in 07, either way. They watched Damon, Giambi, and Tejada walk in consecutive seasons, then the next time they got a chance, they traded Mulder and Hudson. I think they will trade Zito, but only if they get a good package in return. I think they'd "settle" for 2 high draft picks, trusting their scouting rather than trading for crap.
  17. They have Hanley Ramirez, Alfredo Amezaga, Robert Andino (#6 prospect), and Josh Wilson (Alex Gonzalez with better average) for the middle IF. Hard to believe Pookie would be too much better than any of them.
  18. I don't think Hendry is trading Pie, and I think Oakland would want Murton for the immediate help, plus he's a Beane type of player. I don't think you would see Hill AND Williams go. But definitely 1 or the other with a prospect close to the majors involved.
  19. Why spin Zito off for Tejada? What if Hendry can trade for both without losing Prior or Z? The longer this circus goes on with Tejada (because you know he's going to continue to throw a fit), the more likely it is the O's would be forced to lower their demands...What an offseason that would be! Not enough prospects to do both. I wouldn't (and hope Hendry wouldn't) want to mortgage the future for those 2. You're looking at at least 6-7 prospects going in those deals.
  20. What's the point? The Marlins aren't gonna win. JoeBo and Pookie are just gonna take time from someone that can develop.
  21. I would guess something along the lines of Murton, Williams, and Marshall or Murton, Hill, and Gallagher for Zito. Then Hendry spinning Zito into Tejada, and signing Preston Wilson for RF.
  22. That's where I figure they'll be the strongest. I understand Dempster, Eyre and Howry's history, but I also like the potential of Wuertz, Ohman, and Williamson if they slip up. Ohman was pretty impressive last year when you consider he missed basically 3 years of baseball. Wuertz was good, got overused, then was great down the stretch. And Williamson is a much better pitcher than he showed last year. Odds are not all 3 of the late relievers will bust, although at least 1 will.
  23. Texas is the only hitter's park in that division. The NL Central is one of the best hitter's divisions in baseball. I don't think you'd see much of a drop in his production if he came to the Cubs. But, guys like Jacque Jones, Alfonso Soriano are guys that I have never felt were a good fit for the Cubs. The emphasis should be on adding players with a history of good OBP. Why management doesn't see this is beyond me. Don't 6 of the 8 positions have good obp? Give me more ops. No. Murton is unproven and could go either way in LF. Pierre is coming off a .330 OBP season. Jones can't get on base at all. Cedeno is unproven at SS. Walker won't be here, so that leaves Perez who can't get on base to save his life. Barrett is a career .320 OBP guy, and his .345 last year was good, but not great. Ramirez is pretty average driven in his OBP. Only Lee has a proven BB/PA.
  24. Agreed on all accounts. But if management isn't gonna go after guys with OBP history, the least they can do is go after guys who do well in spite of that. Soriano and Tejada would qualify. And the Cubs did well with Dawson and Sosa who didn't have that type of history at the time they were picked up.
