  1. You may get more than you want. The Bears won in Tampa with Orton at QB. If we play Tampa, it will be in Chicago with Grossman at QB. I like our chances. The only way the Bears scored was b/c Simms fumbled on the 1. Don't kid yourself into thinking the Bears are great. I love this thinking. The Bears won because they FORCED the Simms fumble. It's one thing if it's 1 lucky break, but the Bears won 11 games by that same method. I can see using that excuse for losing to Cleveland, but that's the Bears m.o. You can't just assume that next time the Bears won't turn TOs into points, because they've made a habit of doing so. I don't think his point was about the defense. I think he was saying that the offense was only able to score a TD by having to go 1 yard. Yeah, and my point was that the offense didn't have to.

What are the odds the Bears can force another turnover that deep in Bucs territory if they play again? Other than that series they couldn't even move the ball. Of course with Grossman playing their chances are alot better. That being said, I'm worried that the Bucs will have a tough time beating the Skins. Never insinuated that you were dumb. What are the odds? I'd say slim to none that a fumble happens at the 1-yard line again. But I say the odds are pretty good that the Bears defense gives their offense a short field thanks to a turnover or two. That's all I was saying.
  3. Naw. Pitt owns the Bungals. Last game it was 41-38 Bengals, with Rothslisberger having a broken hand. If Pittsburgh doesn't turn the ball over, they will make enough defensive stops to win. My guess. 28-24 Steelers. Oh, and Washington won't be Tampa either. The Ronde Barber/Santana Moss matchup will be a classic.

Ah man, didn't think of that. I'm rooting hard for the Bengals now.
  6. Who do you guys think is gonna be on the All- Big Ten team at the end of this year? Vaden-IU Brown-MSU Killingsworth (twice)-IU Davis- MSU Augustine- Ill Tucker- UW Sims- UM have been players of the week so far. This list doesn't even include the conference's top 2 scorers Ager-MSU and Vukusic-NW, and Dee Brown who's a lock. So, who gets the other 4 spots?
  7. I'm probably one of the biggest U of I homers there are, but I'd take Williams over Augustine. I love James Augustine, but for crying out loud James will you quit being so darn unselfish? I hate when he gets the ball down low then immediately looks to kick it out instead of taking it to the basket like Williams does. I just hope he doesn't get into foul trouble during the Big Ten season. Yes, if Augustine played at Duke and Williams played at Illinois the hype machine would be Augustine and Williams would be the lesser known. Augustine is the better shooter, rebounding wise I call it even. I do think had Williams played for Illinois last year in the national championship game, he wouldn't have been in foul trouble like Augustine. But you're right part of the Williams mystique is because he's at Duke. Augustine scares me. He's one of those guys that has been waiting his time and developing every year. He was thrown out there as a freshman and it is gonna pay off this year. But no, he's not as good as Williams, who is really not all that. I'd say he's a better rebounder than Augustine and a much better shot blocker. But JA is the better defender 1-on-1.
  8. IU didn't shoot well, especially for them. As you mentioned they also need to rebound better. Vaden took over the gae though. I acutally think he is our best player. Killer and D.J can (and will) do damage down low, but Vaden has a sweet shot, looks to pass first, and is the best defender on the team. Saturday vs. the Buckeyes should be fun. Vaden's definitely the team's best player. He can do it all. Killer and DJ don't seem to be playing well together. Wilmont is a great defensive player too. He turned the momentum around midway thru the 2nd with his defensive play.
  9. Big Ten opener in the books. IU 70, Michigan 63. Didn't get to watch, but looked like it was a pretty decent game. IU led the majority of the game, but it was very much in doubt until the last minute or 2. Michigan destroyed IU on the boards. Reigning conference player of the week, Robert Vaden had 17 all in the 2nd half.
  10. Could be the 3.30 ERA in his rookie season, just 2 years ago. Could be the fact that he turned 24 less than a month ago. I think Williams has much more value than the Cubs (and Giants for that matter) realize.
  11. Or because Wilson would be the most productive OF on the roster. I like Marrero. Cheap, and can play catcher if needed.
  12. they should, they have virtually every team in division I. Hey a third and they are the old guard. The new guys are trying to sneak in there but the original ones are still the best! :D And let me add that in football the BE only has 8 teams when most have 12. just kiddin ya. Actually what percent is 16 of X amount of teams? I think the Big 10 ought to be pretty interesting this year. I always like Michigan St but Illinois seems like they never lose. I would also be curious to see how good Indiana would be without Davis. Wisconsin is one of those teams you never want to play while Ohio St still hasn't lost yet and seems to get no respect. You kids ought to have a fun season. The Big 10 has a Conference Playoff Championship now, right? Really sucks that Davis can't coach, because he's recruited well, at least out of state. He's angering me not getting the top IN recruits outside of Vaden and Ratliff. Oden should be a Hoosier.
  13. NFC Wild Card round: #5 Panthers at #4 Giants #6 Redskins at #3 Buccaneers AFC Wild Card round: #5 Jaguars at #4 Patriots #6 Steelers at #3 Bengals NFC Divisional round: #3 Buccaneers at #2 Bears #5 Panthers at #1 Seahawks AFC Divisional round: #4 Patriots at #2 Broncos #6 Steelers at #1 Colts NFC Championship: #2 Bears at #1 Seattle AFC Championship: #4 Patriots at #1 Colts Super Bowl: #1 Seahawks vs. #1 Colts at Detroit Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl XL Winners.
  14. i would argue that not picking them #1 until they prove that they aren't is a knock on them. one can't some out and say "illinois isn't good". that would be lunacy. what they say is "illinois is going to finsih third and they're going to have to like it." as i've said, illinois has turned over their team a couple of times without finishing lower than second. So, should UNC be #1 this year? By that logic it would seem they would be. They lost players as did U of I. It's not the same team that won it last year, that's why they aren't picked to win.
  15. Am I losing my mind? Does anyone else see that this thread is not making sense?
  16. Where did I say or even suggest that all Illinois fans are alike? And yes, we do smell, but I blame Gary and anything south of Indianapolis for that.
  17. So, Indiana's not a good team because they lost to ISU? Not gonna earn respect by putting down every other team in the country. There was really no reason to bring up IU. And if you think IU isn't that good, then what does that make Illinois, who was picked behind them, and not unreasonably so? BTW, Memphis is twice as good as any team Illinois has played all season. and this certainly is putting down Illinois in my opinion. and its fans and numerous people in this thread. It was provoked. Unlike his comment.
  18. And those 2 things are only in the same sentence, because illiniguy had to bring up the IU/ISU game for no reason. It had nothing to do with the discussion going on at the time. Heck, he brought up Duke for an unknown reason too. And perhaps you should re-read and show me a spot where anyone has talked down Illinois. The only thing is Sully completely going off the deep end because of a Clark Kellogg column. Hell, I called U of I a potential Final 4 team in this thread and you personally talked them down and said that they haven't played anyone. IG brought up the IU/ISU game to detract from Duke's schedule, saying that playing IU wasn't a true challenge because IU couldn't beat a mediocre team. I don't necessarily agree with that, but he did bring it up for a reason. The point was that Duke beating IU might be such a great feat since ISU also did it. Since that is in the thread, which is rather vaguely titled, it is pertinent to the discussion. Frankly, your tone and generalizations add less to the discussion than any tangent topics. It seems to me that the IU fan is the one being overly defensive here. For the record, I don't agree with Sully - or at least I don't care. What generalizations might you be speaking of?
  19. Man, ABC should take off this game for a LOST re-run.

At least Illinois beat the mediocre teams they played - unlike IU. And again an Illinois fan completely changes the entire point of the thread for no apparent reason.

  23. you're welcome, but please stop spelling my name wrong.
  24. Well, there it is. Ginn's speed kills ND. Notre Dame has never had an athlete like Smith, Ginn, or Holmes, OSU should be able to score often.
