I like Kendrick, thought I put him on my others list. Something about Hermida I really like. I could easily see putting Wood and Drew ahead of him. -
Wow, I knew we had been tough on MiSt, but I didn't realize it was that bad. I was suprised it turned out the way it did. I think we have found out that it's going to be tough to win on the road in the Big Ten this year. We'll show you how this Wednesday.

I don't find draft pick compensation that much of a consolation in baseball. Given the extreme hit-or-miss nature of the MLB draft I'm not sure two picks justify giving up a few years of a player who will most likely give you cheap production; a bird in the hand and all that. I realize players drafted in the higher rounds pan out more often, but there are still a fair number of players drafted in the first couple rounds that never amount to anything. Even still, it's compensation that you have to consider. Getting prospects in return is no more of a guarantee.

I think Texas would be the best place for him. He could put up Soriano like numbers in that hitter's haven.

A lot of those teams went on the road for the first time in conference. With 10 and 12-14 losing, maybe IU goes to top 11-12.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Sucks. Hopefully he can get his surgery soon and be ready to go by the start of next season. Man, I got him in a keeper league. He was a lock to be kept before, but depending on how long's he's out, I may have to drop him.

Overated? Troy's the best in the game at his position. I disagree. He's only good at run support and drawing flags. His pass coverage sucks. I would say he is a very good blitzer as well, but you are right. He is probably below-average on pass coverage, and there's no way a safety can be the best in the NFL at his position if he can't even be average on pass D. I'd say he's in the top 1/2 of the FS in pass coverage, though he's not all that good against the pass. Aren't too many good ones, though.

Stillers lucky to get a TD on that drive. Whoever came up with idea to have an All-Pro caliber QB only to let a RB throw a pass in the redzone isn't wise.

Thoughts on OBP - single player vs. team

I wonder how this would work. Team A has OBPs in the lineup of .400, .390, .380, .370, .300, .310, .320, .330. vs. Team B has OBPs in the lineup of .350 from 1-8. Given the exact same number of PAs in every spot in the lineup, that's .350 for each team, and assuming the exact same SLG, BA, etc. Which team would score the most runs. -
Hendry hasn't do anything I wanted this offseason. I don't think he would get Branyan just to spite me.

Not true, Don Baylor went on record and had some pretty revealing comments about CPatt's attitude problem and the probability that CPatt would never reach his potential. So to put the blame squarely on Baker is wrong. Can you provide a link or something? I believe Baylor mentioned something about Patterson not being able to reach his potential, but I have never once even remotely heard anyone say anything bad about Patterson's attitude or work ethic. Corey was praised for coming back from his knee injury so fast. Stone, Caray, Kasper, Brenly, Baker and Hendry have all said that Corey works hard to get the extra time with coaches, but it doesn't translate on the field. The only people who have said he has an attitude problem are people who say he looks emotionless when striking out. I believe Baylor compared him to another Cub prospect who had all the promise in the world but fell flat on his face. I forget which one though, because there are so many of them. Also, saying that Baker showed up and thats why Corey struggled is probably one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen on here. Corey's breakout season... the one that made us think he was ACTUALLY going to live up to all his potential.. was 2003. Want to take a guess at who managed that team? Maybe it was Corey's insanely impressive .221/.266 and .253/.284 seasons under Baylor that made you say that. Not liking Baker is fine. Using some of the many, many things that he has screwed up in Chicago against him is fine. Making up crap like that is ridiculous. Agreed. Bobby Cox could've been managing Corey and he would still have not been a good player with his approach at the plate.

How could anyone pick against the Patriots in a home playoff game? Heck, I had a tough time picking them to lose at all. My new prediction, Patriots make it all the way to the SuperBowl, only to lose to the Bears 46-10.

I think Washington has the defense to be able to beat Seattle. Don't know how they'll ever score on offense though. Of course, the Giants should have beaten them in Seattle earlier this season.

True and they will be pretty tough in the Big 10 too. Check the RPI, baby!

Ohio St. is a good team. They came out strong. IU's shooting again was the key. The 3's fell in the 2nd half. We got a couple of pivotal calls. This team is still not playing their best basketball, as DJ and AJ are still not in the flow offensively. And yeah, road wins are gonna be tough in the best conference in the country.

Fielder and Weeks are star potential players. I'd say they are very much every bit of excitement they've generated. Both K a bit too much, but have excellent batting eyes. I probably would have held on to Overbay for 1 last year (or 1/2 year). As for Hardy, I like him too. He can really catch the ball. And his 2nd half stats are worth keeping an eye on. .308/.363/.503 I know that Fielder and Weeks are star potential players, and I have very little doubt that Weeks is going to be a star player, but that doesn't mean they'll be that stars in 2006. My best guess for Weeks is something like .260/.345/.440 with 20 stolen bases, which is superb for someone his age and at his salary, etc., but in the whole scheme of things isn't great, even for a second baseman. As for Fielder, .245/.330/.460 with 20+ home runs? Again, great for his age and salary, absolutely superb, but when you're on the field, it's numbers that count and not age or salary, and .245/.330/.460 from a 1B isn't amazing production or anything. You know. I completely missed the word "yet" in your first post. I thought you were saying they weren't worth getting excited about at all. -
