  1. I too, fully support this move, depending on what the Cubs would give up.
  2. - Then I stand correct. He's the next coming of Jim Brown. Yes, because that's exactly what the scouting report is saying. Face it, your whole argument is based on what you think you saw, not what everyone else on Earth says about him. Doesn't necessarily make you wrong, but if you aren't you have a very unique eye.
  3. If the Bears plan on going cheap in free agency.....here's a couple guys I'd like them to sign. Jacob Bell- G, Titans. Just 27 and started 31 of the last 32 games for a pretty good OL. DJ Hackett- WR, Seahawks. Probably not gonna be super cheap. Produced a ton when he played (32 for 364 in 6 games). But does have some injury issues that will hold back his big payday. Again just 27 Sean Locklear- OT, Seahawks. Played the right side, but could possibly move to the left. At worst, gives Tait 1 more year at LT while a drafted player (probably not a 1st rounder) gets a year to get ready. Randy Starks-DT, Titans. Just 24. Played behind some great DTs in TN, and was very well coached, pretty sure he would be a great fit.
  4. Here's some scouting reports on McFadden. -
  5. Talk about not even being close to correct. I've only seen him slam into someone once or twice. Certainly nothing close to like an AP. McFadden is a speedster and uses his speed, and not much else, to avoid contact. He's an exceptional talent, no doubt, but I just don't know how good he'll be in the pros. So, we should just go by what you have seen over what a clear Arkansas fan has seen and over all logic whatsoever?
  6. Not sure if this typical or not of running backs. I bolded all his runs under 3 and over 10. MIZZOU: 7, 1, 7, 1, 6, -3, 4, 1, 1, 19, 0, 3, 9, 0, 7, 3, 9, 18, 9, 0, 3 LSU: 2, 4, 5, 3, 7, 1, 12, 6, 4, 14, 2, 5, 7, 5, 2, 7, -3, 73, 3, -1, 2, -1, 1, 7, 6, 5, 5, 0, 4, 3, 9, 10 MSU: 3, -1, 4, 1, 2, 2, 0, 2, -1, 15, 1, 2, 3, 9, 5, 1, -1, 2, -2, 3, 3 TENN: 11, 1, -1, 4, 4, 6, 5, 2, 0, 8, 3, 3, 4, 7, 5, 4, 19, 2, 8, 20, 1, 0 SC: 1, 3, 14, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 13, 3, 2, -3, 9, 7, 2, 26, -2, 19, 2, 6, 13, 16, 1, 35, 4, 5, 3, 80, 12, 5, 7, 4, 3, 18 UM: -5, 5, 30, 8, 0, -1, 0, 3, 4, 2, 8, 5, 16, 1, 5, 11, 4, 6, 3, 3, 1, 4, AUB: -2, 9, 6, 4, 4, 0, 5, 4, 1, 4, 2, 2, 2, 0, 13, -2, 3 UK: 1, 8, 2, 4, 3, -2, 5, 6, 11, 1, 2, 1, 3, 0, 1, 19, 56, 2, 5, 4, 5, 9, 11, 3, 2, 1, 6, 2, 2 BAMA: 6, 2, 3, 1, 2, 6, 4, 2, 14, 3, 8, 1, 5, 3, 6, 24, 3, 6, 5, 1, 6, 1, 13, 7, 3, 1, 11, 1, 6, 8, 12, 5, 20, 1 What does this prove? First of all it shows most of his runs were between 3-9. Kinda like every other RB in the history of Earth. Your greatly exaggerated example had 1 run between 3-9, out of 10. And for the record, AD's 224 yard game vs. the Bears. He had 20 carries, all but 2 were less than 3 or more than 10.
  7. That's surprising considering how successful he was in college. Don't listen to Mike Mayock about this one. That guy has a vandetta against McFadden for some reason. I love Mendenhall but if you gave me the choice of either, I'd take McFadden without much thought. yeah i have a hard time believing that the guy was running about 6 yards a pop without breaking some tackles. His high rushing average is due in large part (at least in my opinion) to his breakout runs he'd get alot. I get to see a good bit of SEC football down here and it seemed to me like McFadden's rushes would go something like 2 yards, no gain, 7 yards, 2 yards, 18 yards, 1 yard, -3 loss, 28 yards, 70 yards, 2 yards, etc. He depended totally on his speed and would rarely bowl over people, like Peterson (uber-stud), or juke people out of their shoes, like Bush (a bust). He seemed to just take off and people wouldn't be able to get a hand on him. With the speed the NFL seems to have at LB these days, I don't think he's going to get those big runs like he got in college. Looking over the game logs, I don't think that's true. He had only 5 runs over 30 yards all season long. That certainly doesn't scream breakaway back. He also didn't appear to have too many runs for losses or short gains. It was his runs between 5-15 yards that he did a really good job of and made his average so high. Yeah, usually when somebody uses "Seems" in an argument, it's nowhere near the truth. Bush is not a bust. He caught 90 passes as a rookie and was productive last year.
  8. I'm lukewarm on it. Gallagher still has some development left to do, but he could be an asset to this team if injury/sucktitude problems hit by mid-season. I don't like the way the Cubs are looking at SS coming into next season if they don't have Cedeno in there. E-Patt and Veal I won't feel too bad about seeing go. I'd do it in a second. I'm not that high on Veal and Patterson anymore. Gallagher is the quality prospect of the group, but the Cubs aren't gonna trade for Roberts without giving up at least 1 real quality young player. Cedeno only hurts because Theriot isn't good. The best thing about this deal is that it keeps Murton around. He's the only player out of the 5 listed that would contribute to the 2008 team anyway, and his contribution could be quite huge as a 4th OF, top RH bat off the bench.
  9. If I use the Meph rankings (which are great, btw), I'd keep Hanley, VMart, Tulo, Beckett, and Cano. Does it matter that I have 2 SS and one would be at U? I think I could find a taker to overpay for Verlander if he is really the 78th best player to have.
  10. Oh, I have Tulowitzki. Was unsure about the rules, but I can substitute Tulo for any 1 person on the list before cutting it down to 5.
  11. Can keep 5. Roto league. Categories are R, HR, RBI, K, 2B, AVG, OBP, SLG and W, L, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, QS. Hanley Ramirez Aramis Ramirez Verlander Beckett V Martinez Cano Dunn Hawpe Adrian Gonzalez Wang Hanley and Verlander are locks.
  12. It's cool to live about 1200 miles from Boston and still have season tickets to all their sports teams.
  13. Cason is very underrated. He was my #1 CB up until the end of the season. There's gonna be a lot of good CBs in the 2nd-3rd rounds. As deep and as good as the RB class. Someone will get a steal between Cason, Flowers, Ikegwuonu, and my boy, Tracy Porter. I even like Dejuan Tribble and Terrelle Thomas.
  14. gordon is becoming a turnover machine. it's frustrating. DJ still played hard, but i agree there were some defensive lapses. also, DeAndre Thomas is a train-wreck sometimes (often lately). they have absolutely nobody worthy of playing the four. I'm curious to see how Bassett plays the rest of the year if Dakich is really encouraging him to be more aggressive. I definitely agree that should be his mentality. He hasn't been as aggressive as he was last year. Yeah, Bassett's starting to look like the guy that averaged about 14 ppg after Feb 1 last year. I do think IU is getting a lot better performance from the 4 recently. Taber has played well defensively, and is a solid rebounder, screener and passer. Dre has been better since the Michigan St. game when DJ went out. Stemler, well, he's had his issues, but he's probably the safest bet to produce at this point. However, if he's not gonna knock down the 3, he has no purpose on the floor.
  15. That was excellent. Posts at the same time, so I'm guessing unintentional, but brilliant nonetheless.
  16. I'd be for it. He'd be great rushing the passer from a couple different areas. And he would allow the Bears to ease in Jamar Williams and threaten Hillenmeyer.
  17. IU played less crappy than OSU tonight. There was a weird vibe all game long. The fans and players never got super excited. We completely stopped rebounding to let OSU back in the game. DJ had several mental lapses with his position in the zone and blocking out on the defensive boards. The non-Bassett Hoosiers shot 1-17 from 3pt range. Of course, the non-Gordon Hoosiers only turned the ball over 6 times. Someone needs to tell young Eric that the other team doesn't have to move out the way like the teams did in the non-conference. And when you run into them out of control and throw up an off balanced shot, the refs don't have to call a foul.
  18. I like Hud. I don't know that he will consistently put up those numbers that Raisin pointed out, but he's a stud defensively. He'd be an upgrade over Derosa because of D. With the bat, if he keeps up recent numbers, he'd be an ok #2 hitter. His career numbers look like a solid 7-hitter.
  19. You guys should have no problem with Bradley since Ruffin is fresh out of jail on bail, and not playing. Yeah, we dismantled them with ease at home earlier this year when Ruffin was hurt. Problem is, road games have been a huge struggle for us this year, so I'm reluctant to call anything easy. If he's not suspended for the rest of the year, Jim Les needs to be fired on the spot. You'll win the automatic bid from the conference anyway. I see SIU winning the tourney if they keep playing the way they are now.
  20. In defense of Angelos ( ), he should ask for more than that. Three of those 4 weren't good enough for the Cubs to start over Steve Trachsel, Jacque Jones/Cliff Floyd, and Ryan Theriot/Cesar Izturis.
  21. Probably. He'll never be an asset there. He'll be effective in a doubleteam with an OT or even w/ a RB chipping. That being said, there are plenty of TEs who aren't good blockers who are value to their teams (Dallas Clark, Winslow).
  22. Yes! Committee seed the teams exactly like that and I'll be cool. IU in the Midwest, though they would have to play in Denver before they got to Detroit. UNCs the 3rd best #1. Xavier, though they beat IU, is the worst #2 by far as the other 3 will be competing for a 1-seed the rest of the way. Louisville is the worst 3. Drake is a mid-major #5. Butler a mid-major #6. While both would be tough, 'd rather face a Cinderella over a true contender. And I think Arizona is the worst 7 seed.
  23. Is it me or is this team really in shape this year?
  24. I'd love to see him play for Tampa. It can only help the team and franchise.
  25. The only thing dumber than having a goal of stealing 3B more is telling the world you are gonna try and steal 3B more.
