  1. Ohio St. sucks. About 5 empty possessions while Wisconsin was held scoreless at the end. Of course, they were getting hacked most of the time, but they aren't a tourney team right now if I'm selecting.
  2. That's what the unofficial NFL Network results had him at. Quite impressive with his size. Didn't seem him run, but that's impressive. If he truly ran that, he may be the #1 WR on the board. His hands and routes aren't great, but they are good enough.
  3. I don't have a problem saying Go Buckeyes! I hate them a lot less than I do Wisconsin. Huh? You hate Wisconsin more than Ohio State? Why on earth? Wisconsin is inherently likable; they have the best coach in the league, and play smart, fundamental basketball. They're a joy to watch. On the other hand, Ohio State is, well, Ohio State. They're easily the least likable team in the Big Ten across the sports. But, of course, Go Buckeyes in this game. Well, most of that hate comes from football, which there's no need for an IU fan to hate OSU, because they can't compete anyway. Wisconsin plays the "right way", but it's also frustrating to lose to a team that's usually less talented than IU, especially the way we lost a few games ago.
  4. Also, if the Big Ten is gonna get 5 NCAA teams, Ohio St. is gonna have to win AT LEAST one of the 4 remaining (including today) games against the 4 tourney teams in the conference. As much crap as the conference has gotten this year, the Big Ten could have 4 top 5 seeds in the tourney. The only conference that looks like it can match that is the Big East, who could have 4 also, but that's in a 16-team league.

  6. Keener, you look at the whole situation as Sampson is a cheater, liar, scum, etc., which I agree is mostly likely the case. And I can't speak for any of the IU players, but I can bet they feel like, "hey, it's just phone calls". The fact that the NCAA has called these "major" violations is a joke. It's still just a handful of phonecalls, that Sampson may or may not have had 100% knowledge of wrongdoing. I'm sure you'll take exception to the last couple sentences, but the only reason these violations are newsworthy is because of prior violations by Sampson. As far as the IU players are concerned, I bet they think he could have done a lot worse. No current Hoosiers are in danger of being ineligible. This season and the talent on the team is not tainted. Bottom line is you aren't gonna tell a team that has spent so much time with Sampson and came to IU because of his presence (other than DJ White, who stayed because of Sampson) that he is a bad person because of the current allegations.
  7. Smith from UCF was pretty impressive today. He looks like a poor man's Adrian Peterson. He's long, lean and a glider. He ran well his first time.
  8. Big Josh Johnson fan. I think he could be a real good NFL QB. But he's a guy that would need to be developed a lot, and may not be even ready to play in 09. I don't trust the Bears to develop a QB so raw. He's like Tarvares Jackson, but with a better idea of how to run an offense.
  9. And the 76' Hoosiers crack open the champagne!!!!
  10. I don't know if he was trying to miss that or not.
  11. Interesting strategy.
  12. I bet Rose could find Smurfette in the blue-clad crowd while he's driving to the rim on the opposite end of the court. His vision is sick.
  13. Very entertaining game, but both teams look sloppy and erratic to me. Both team forcing shots. Shooting under 45%. Lot of stupid turnovers. Lot of 1-on-1 plays.
  14. On a horsecrap call. Drake up 2 with 17 seconds to go and the shot clock running down, Drake's player throws himself at Mike Green while chucking a 3, doesn't even hit Green and gets the call anyway. I'm not a Butler fan but that was simply awful. I think the replay showed that Green reached in. He got caught in the cookie jar w/ less than a second on the shot clock. He made a stupid play.
  15. I really didn't think there was much contact on that play. White just stood with his arms straight up and the NW player double clutched. With all the crap those kids have been through lately I'll take a 3 point win. It was the body contact, imo. NU player shouldn't have double clutched though, he made it a tougher shot and also less likely to get a foul call. Then again, you can't expect Northwestern to get a call like that, especially against a Big Ten first team guy like DJ White. Body contact was minimal. It did not create an advantage for IU. The NW player created his own disadvantage by double clutching and going up tentatively. If DJ mauled him, the refs should have held their whistles anyway for not getting Coble a touch.
  16. DJ can celebrate all he wants. He has been through a lot in his career at IU...the Mike Davis era, multiple injuries, the Sampson fiasco...he finally has a chance to play for a Big Ten title. C'mon Raisin, that's a low blow. I think you can cut DJ some slack tonight. That celebration had 0 to do with Northwestern. He would have been like that had they beat the scout team in practice the way the last 48 hours have gone.
  17. I'm predicting that they lose 3 of the last 4 and don't make the tourney.... Talk about a team only having two players...here's how KSU's players scored: 44 pts, 31 pts, 5, 4, 1, & 1. And IU finished with Eric Gordon and DJ White being their 3rd and 4th highest scorers. Bassett and Crawford combined for 45. DJ and EJ with most of their damage from the FT line. I'd say a pretty good win considering the circumstances.
  18. I disagree completely. I think the university slapped the players in the face with the way they handled the situation the last 24 hours. It put the players into a horrible position with the way it was dragged out and the meeting last night (which was both unnecessary and put the players into further media bombardment). I think both sides should just say mistakes were made and move on with the full squad tomorrow night. At most, make them come off of the bench. I see your point, but what excuse do they have for skipping practice when they knew this was gonna happen? It seems to me that skipping was a reaction to their guy, McCallum, not being named interim. It's an F'd up situation and everyone is screwed.
  19. IU pretty much has to travel tomorrow without the players who skipped practice today. Skipping practice is bad enough, but it's clearly a slap in the face of the remaining coaches and the entire university. I think you will see 3 scholarship players for IU tomorrow in Evanston. Gordon, Stemler and Mike White along with walk-ons Taber, Finkelmeyer and Ahlfeld.
  20. Group of dumbarses.
  21. Not that I buy into this stuff, but people like to point out that the Superbowl loser doesn't make the playoffs the year after. But nobody ever points out that those teams are usually back in the playoffs the year after that. The last 3 SB losers (which is as far back as I checked) from the NFC (not including Seattle who made the playoffs the year after) that have missed the playoffs in the year after, have made the playoffs the very next season. Carolina even went to the conference championship in 05.
  22. Everybody knows the lineup goes: CF 2B 1B RF LF 3B C SS There should be no deviation from that. Ask the 84 Cubs.
  23. Almost didn't recognize him without the towel. Get it!
  24. I'd think hard about paying Berrian like a #1 for a season (aka franchise him) because otherwise you go into next season with about 60 career grabs at WR. That doesn't mean he's a #1 though. I think he's just a slightly above average #2 now, with the potential to be a pretty good #2 (think John Taylor of 49ers fame) with a better offense and QB situation.
  25. Of those three, I'd take Brownell. I might be biased, he went to my high school, but still. I like him a lot. If IU decides to go with a young up-and-comer, I hope it's Brownell. Of those 3 I'd rather you have Brownell too. Miller at IU scares the crap out of me. If it is Miller, Xavier really has had a nice coaching tree go on to other places. Miller Bennett Skiles Brownell In that order.
