  1. Johnson is throwing nothing but strikes and we're hitting them hard. Not sure what else can be done. Exactly. 13 out of the zone in 53 pitches.
  2. Don't mind the first 2 guys swinging at the 1st pitches when they hit it that hard.
  3. Don't know about that, especially when you factor in CC's offensive ability.
  4. Gameday has those last 3 fastballs as 93, 92, 94.
  5. I don't know. McCutheon is probably ready. Over 400 AAA at bats. But the Pirates may not want to start the arbitration clock on the just 21 year old. McCutheon will most definitely be at the ML level in 2009, though, if I had my guess. Steven Pearce may be a guy that gets a shot first. He's an OF/1B and the Pirates need to see if he can hit ML pitching enough to be an everyday 1b next year.
  6. Jo-el Pineiro vs. Seth McClung! It don't get no better than this for pennant race baseball.
  7. I'm guessing there is a strong chance Bradley doesn't make this roster if he can't get on the field in a timely manner. The WRs coach is raving about Lloyd and Davis so far, and I believe those 2 were the biggest competition for PT for Bradley. Booker and Hester are locks. Bennett was a high 3rd round pick, so he's probably not in too much danger even of being put on the practice squad. If Lloyd and Davis are that good, that put Bradley in competition with Mike Hass for the last WR spot. Might as well continue the trend started in the offseason and cutting ties with disappointing players. The CB situation is pretty tight too, but in more of a good way than the WRs. Obviously, the starters are great. But McBride was decent last year. Graham has good size at 6'1" and has been impressing. Then you have the rookie Bowman and Ricky Manning Jr. My guess is RMJr. gets the boot.
  8. Edited to reflect that Reggie Wayne is not a RB.
  9. Starting Thursday, the Cubs have 13 of 17 in Chicago. Then have a 6 game road trip followed by 13 of 16 at home. The only road series in those 2 long stretches of 13 home games are right up the road in Milwaukee and Wrigley East, PNC Park.
  10. What do you mean raw? He had a pinch-hitting appearance today after starting the first two games after the break. For some reason I didn't think he had started any of the games since the break.
  11. Not really any upsets this week. The top 4 in the East beat the bottom 4. In the west, the top 4 all played each other. NSBB won the battle of the teams tied for 1st. The 4th place team beat the 3rd place team, to pull even in the standings.
  12. As bad as Johnson has been in recent years, lefties still haven't figured him out. But with the Cubs current roster, either Fukudome or Edmonds has to start tomorrow night. I'd think Edmonds has a much better shot to hit Johnson. I think you will see Edmonds in CF, Johnson in LF, but I also think you see Derosa in RF and Cedeno at 2B. My guess is Soriano comes off the DL a day early on Wednesday and is back in the lineup vs. lefty, Doug Davis.
  13. Of course he won't. :banghead:
  14. Hernandez is killing me this year! I thought he'd be in Daytona by now. But the suspension and lackluster performance have ruined his season thus far. Veal got beat by Nic Ungs, who used to be a pretty solid prospect and now is 28 in AA.
  15. The Brewers would be stupid if they didn't inquire about another arm or two. They have the prospects to deal, a young nucleus and will likely lose Sheets and Sabathia after this year anyway. If they could get Cain, they would still have a pretty strong system. They could also have a pretty solid Cain, Gallardo, Parra start to their rotation.
  16. Have we considered this rule change? It would obviously make RBs and WRs more valuable. League is very QB friendly right now. If we did got to 1 pt per reception, we could make QB TD passes worth a full 6 to even things out again, so people don't have to change their keepers. But the way the scoring is now also is defense friendly. My top 2 point scorers last year was the Chargers D and the Dallas D who was my backup defense.
  17. Z picked off Milton Bradley. Final score was 4-3. Oh thanks I remember Ichiro getting a single so I assumed he was the one picked off. But you're correct. PO: Bradley (1st base by Zambrano). He got Jeter to GIDP on the first pitch which was pretty satisfying.
  18. Wow that's quite amazing that we get a 3 gamer vs. AZ and not face Haren or Webb. I bet Brewers/Cardinals fans are bitching that we play Arizona 6 times this year and faced Haren once and Webb 0 times. Things will more than even out if we draw Arizona in a playoff series and have to face them possibly 4 times. If both teams make the playoffs, it's very likely they would play each other. Looks like best record and wildcard will come out of the Central. Winner of the NLC would play the division winner w/ the worst record, that's most likely going to be the team that comes out of the West.
  19. This just in. Mesa can score.
  20. The Marlins were the wildcard. The Cubs won the NL Central in 03. The Marlins had the better record, but the Cubs still had home field. Which is what I said... lol Haha. I completely read that wrong.......several times.
  21. I'm going to go with the consensus pick Vikings Packers Bears Lions Not sure if the Packers grab a WC spot yet...but I'm leaning towards no. That's my irrational Packer hate speaking though probably. Name 5 teams in the NFC that are better than the Packers. You can't do it. Not hard to imagine that Dallas, NY Giants, and Minnesota being better than Green Bay. After that, only either Philly or Washington has to be better to keep the Packers out of the playoffs. I don't know that anyone in the NFC West or South would be better, but they don't have to be to win those divisions. My predictions for the NFC Central. Minnesota 11-5 Green Bay 9-7 Chicago 7-9 Detroit 6-10
  22. Funny how Wuertz gives up a run or 2 on 3 months rest and its back to Iowa for him, yet Howry can seemingly give up a run every time he pitches, yet Lou always gos back to him. Howry's been there before, dude.
  23. I don't understand how a struggling player who is being counted on to start baseball games is going to break out of his slump by sitting down and watching baseball games for an extended period of time. It's like the Felix Pie thing all over again. He's struggling so he needs to sit for a couple weeks to get better. Then people wondered why he couldn't hit Francisco Cordero in the 9th inning with a week off. It's a great idea to sit a player to "get his head right". Because we all know Fukudome can't hit baseballs right now because he's thinking about circus clowns instead of baseball when he's at the plate.
