I think even if a minor leaguer is pomoted to the majors, they're still eligible to play in their all star game. Eligible, but I don't think I've ever seen a promoted player go backwards just to compete in an AS game.
Felix fouled off 6 pitches in his 1st AB. Unfortunately, the last one was just tipped and caught by the catcher for a K. Dubois HBP to stop him from another HR.
Good to see GO rate up once he was promoted, no doubt helped by his outing last night. Love that K rate. Not often that goes up WITH the GB rate. That's the thing I'm noticing the most. BB rate could use some improvement and definitely the HR rate.
My guesses it would have something to do with: - 95 mph sinking fastball, good hard slider - 1.17 WHIP, near 2:1 GB to FB, 1 BB/18 Ks in 18 innings since June 1. - 1.06 WHIP, 2.4:1 GB to FB ratio, near 3:1 BB//K ratio in 2007.
Wonder if Soto will play today. I'd sit him. This would be a good day for Daryle Ward to get a start and ice cold, Edmonds to take a seat. My lineup: SS- Theriot CF- Fukudome 1B- Lee 3B- Ramirez LF- Ward RF- Derosa 2B- Fontenot C- Blanco
He hasn't pitched since Saturday. He could dust some rust off too. I doubt it though. Wuertz hasn't pitched in 2 1/2 months, how bout we get him some work? With Gaudin coming, Cotts doing well, and Marmol out of his funk, Wuertz next work may well be in a different uniform. Iowa Cubs uniform.
Gaudin is a nice pickup in this deal. He has done wonders with his control. Gotta give props to the Oakland pitching coach. He was walking a guy every other inning and giving up a hit plus per inning. That's a lot of baserunners. A WHIP of 1.6. He's down to 1.28 right now, which is decent.
As long as he is healthy for 4 more months Even if he's on the field as little as Nomar was, it's still a good move. It gives the Cubs a legit chance just to have him in their control. Harden could start 20 more times and throw 20 shutouts and it doesn't guarantee anything. This is a good deal. The Cubs gave up some talent, but nobody that had a clear cut spot in the near future.
When was the last time the Cubs swept the Reds? I bet it has been awhile. July 2004. So, really, the last time they had a good team. 3-3 for each side this year. I'll be pretty surprised if the Cubs sweep the series. Somebody will take 2 of 3 with a close game deciding who takes the series. Although Harang and his 3-10 record and sore bicep doesn't give me a lot of hope for tonight. Yeah, I don't get why everyone is saying sweep. I'd guess the Cubs would take 2 of 3. Zambrano has struggled vs. the Reds and the 2nd game off the DL is always the one that worries me. Less adrenaline, less to "prove". Cueto seems to have found his early season magic too.
When was the last time the Cubs swept the Reds? I bet it has been awhile. Reds lineup: Hairston SS Bruce CF Griffey RF Phillips 2B Dunn LF Keppinger 3B Votto 1B Bako C Harang P If Hairston and Bako go off on the Cubs again tonight, I'm going to scream.
I have gone to the movies by myself a couple times. A couple more times I have gone to see one thing while the people I'm with go see something else (usually happens when kids are involved). But it's been a while. I don't really go to movies much at all unless it's a drive-in and those are definitely no fun alone.
Wow. This was a tossup for me between A Bugs Life and Toy Story 2. I haven't seen Ratatouille or Wall-E yet. But not a big fan of Cars or Nemo. Incredibles would be a close 3rd for me.
The Brewers wouldn't have to trade any more of their top prospects for Marte, Durham, or Taschner. Though, I think SF could possibly get Rickie Weeks out of them.
