  1. Welker -- because he gets cheap catches which helps in PPR Harvin -- because he's going to be Brett's #1 in a game that could be a shootout Boldin -- this is tough because he may draw Revis, but Revis may not be in game shape and I'm sure it wont' be 100% Revis on Boldin.
  2. I'd put him in right away. Manning is a nickel at best. Lovie keeps him in there because he is his little pet and wanted him on the team in the first place. Manning is just bad. Danieal Manning has played better safety this preseason than Chris Harris. Granted, Harris is playing out of position at FS. But he hasn't tackled or covered well this preseason. Manning hasn't been anything special in coverage, but he has been a solid tackler.
  3. I'm alarmed at the apparent lack of preparation as well. Even with the changes, I expected to see a more cohesive unit than that. It's not like they started practicing last week. They've been at it since OTAs, months ago. I kinda buy Cutler and Martz's explanations that the playcalling was very vanilla and that there was no gameplanning for specific teams and situations. I understand that the Cowboys have "done it before" and have a familiar offense, but they are getting a free pass for being worse offensively this summer than the Bears were. I guess we'll wait and see. And even if we see a great passing offense Week 1, it's still vs. Detroit who may be lacking in the back 7.
  4. Reason why the Heisman is not being given to anyone else? 2005- 1- Reggie Bush- stripped of award 2- Vince Young- punches people and contemplates suicide 3- Matt Leinart- cut within last week 4- Brady Quinn- cut within last 6 months 5- Michael Robinson- cut within last week
  5. Cool. I thought those limits were pretty high. That's fine.
  6. My nephew is a freshman TE for Southern Illinois. Look forward to seeing him on the sidelines on the Big Ten Network! I'm assuming he won't play, as he didn't get in SIUs 70-7 blowout win last Thursday.
  7. 10-team leagues are tough to judge, because 1 team having a really bad/stupid draft could skew a couple teams to look really good. That being said, I find it hard to imagine that you wouldn't have the best team in the league. Top 3 RB. Top 3 WR, Top 3 D, QB that could throw for 4000 yards and 25-30 TDs, and I like Jennings, Moreno, and Smith.
  8. He had 4 starts, 11 relief appearances in 2002 (less than 10 starts, less than 25 relief) 26 starts in 2003 (Exemption 1) 3 starts in 2004 Not in Majors 2005 2 relief appearances in 2006 25 relief appearances in 2007 (Exemption 2) Not in majors in 2008 or 2009 27 starts this year. According to the rules, does that mean he has his last exemption after this season?
  9. My predictions: AFC East- NY Jets, Miami*, New England, Buffalo AFC South- Indianapolis, Tennessee*, Houston, Jacksonville AFC North- Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland AFC West- San Diego, Oakland, Kansas City, Denver NFC East- Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, NY Giants NFC South- New Orleans, Atlanta*, Carolina, Tampa Bay NFC North- Green Bay, Minnesota*, Chicago, Detroit NFC West- San Francisco, Arizona, Seattle, St. Louis Playoffs: Wildcard round- Jets over Dolphins, Titans over Chargers; Cowboys over Falcons, Vikings over 49ers Divisional round- Ravens over Jets, Colts over Titans; Packers over Vikings, Cowboys over Saints Championships- Ravens over Colts, Packers over Cowboys. Super Bowl- Ravens over Packers.
  10. I wonder how many times in MLB history has a hitter gone from hitting 8th one day to hitting 4th the next, and it wasn't a decision that involved platoon splits either day? I understand hitting a LH like Colvin 8th against a tough LHP and then hitting him 4th (should never hit 4th, but that's another issue) against a RHP. But one, Soto doesn't have a problem with RHPs. And two, both pitchers the last 2 days have been LH.
  11. I guess I understand that they want Castro to "reflect on the game", whatever that means. But I don't understand how watching other people play is going to help him. I didn't really watch much of the game yesterday, but I guess it had something to do with him missing a tag at 2B and a runner stealing home yesterday. Watch the tape. Tell him what he should have done and what he should have looked for. What if over the next 2 days, no situations involving the SS to make a decision arise?
  12. What is PPC? Looks like the middle of the draft wasn't kind to you/her. Peterson/Greene/Jackson are probably your 1-2-3 picks, which are decent. But I don't really see anyone I would have drafted in rounds 4-7 other than Bowe. That being said, I don't think it's that bad. Any team with Adrian Peterson has a shot. And if Shonn Greene gets all of Thomas Jones' yards/carries/TDs, your RBs could be great. I'd like to see stronger WRs in a PPR league, but DBowe and Royal are just a year removed from each having 85+ catch seasons. They don't have a ton of competition for catches, so if either could get back to 08 form, you could be OK, but getting VJack at some point would be nice.
  13. 3 games. But the Chargers also put him on some list which means he has to sit out 3 more games after his suspension. That may or may not still apply if he is traded.
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5536612 Pretty sure they were not. My guesses are either Seattle, Minnesota, or Baltimore
  15. If that's all you were saying, why didn't you say it. I don't know how the hell anyone was supposed to get that out of your earlier post. I apologize for apparantly not remembering your specific posts on a similar topic from 3 years ago.
  16. His control is not good. But if you are going to walk 6.3 hitters per 9 innings, then you better: be unhittable, keep the ball in the park, and keep the ball from getting put in play. Carlos Marmol is the best in baseball at all 3 of those things, thus rendering his control problems, not much of a problem. That being said, I would trade Marmol in a heartbeat if it meant getting star level talent back in return. But there is really no precedent for a reliever this dominant to get traded, much less traded for a package of players that would make trading Marmol worthwhile.
  17. LH power should never be a priority. The Cubs need good baseball players, no matter what side of the plate they stand on. If it so happens that the best player available hits RH, then you don't let him pass just because he doesn't hit lefty. As for the rest, Dunn isn't going to be signed for 3/$30M. But no matter what he is signed for, it will probably be better than giving up top notch prospects for Butler. However, if another large salary isn't feasible for ownership then Butler is a very nice option, under team control for 3 more years, and young enough to get a lot better.
  18. That team actually looks a lot better now that Bradshaw is a legit #1 RB. Nicks, McCoy, and Finley are good picks in a PPR league.
  19. The Bears traded their 2009 2nd round pick for a 3rd (Gilbert) and a 4th (Melton). While Melton made the team, he and Gilbert have played about 9 plays combined in the NFL. Just for reference, these are the players who are starting for other teams at positions of need for the Bears, that were available at the point the Bears traded from in the 2nd. Max Unger- RG Seattle Muhammad Massaquoi- WR Cleveland Phil Loadholt- RT Minnesota Andy Levitre- LG Buffalo Sebastian Vollmer- RT New England Sean Smith- CB Miami
  20. Either Michigan is much improved or the Big East is terrible. (UConn has been picked to win that conference by many people.) Those aren't smart people. Pitt, Cincy, and WVU are all clearly better.
  21. Jarron Gilbert and Juaquin Iglesias both cut. Along with Josh Beekman. No other big surprises, except the high number of DBs being kept. Looks like 6 CBs and 5 safeties may make the team. And both Bell and Wolfe look to be on the team.
  22. I'll be upset if Bullocks makes the team over Afalava. Not that Afalava is that good or anything, just that we know Bullocks sucks and has for years. Afalava at least showed some flashes and is a few years younger. Only need Harris, Manning, Wright, and Steltz anyway. Scott on PS can play if necessary.
  23. Because it's in Chicago and Week 1, I am going with the Bears. But no way in hell, would I bet with those 6 points though. Detroit's defense is still pretty bad. The D-line should be much improved, but I think Williams can handle VandenBosch and then you double Suh and help out Omiyale if necessary. Then you get to their back 7, who are lackluster at best. So, I hope the Bears offense can get on track.
  24. What about Carlos Gonzalez? There's an interesting 3-man race for the triple crown in the NL. Obviously, any of them do it, they're the MVP. But don't discount Gonzalez, especially if the Cards don't make the playoffs and the Rockies make another run. Up to the moment. Pujols- .313 (5th), 35 HR (1st), 95 RBI (2nd) Votto- .325 (2nd), 32 HR (2nd), 97 RBI (1st) CarGo- .328 (1st), 30 HR (5th), 92 RBI (3rd) And Gonzalez spent the first 1/3 to 1/4 of the season batting leadoff or else those RBI numbers would be up, and with some ailments he's suffered, he has about 25 fewer PAs than Votto, and nearly 70 fewer than Pujols. Add in that he also steals bases, and he should be a strong MVP candidate.
  25. VA Tech, Pitt, and WVU are legit. Ohio St's look goofy. Miami, like the green helmets, not digging the all orange unis.
