  1. Yeah, no. You just saw why they didn't go for it. The Lions are cutting up the Bears' defense today. On 4th and 2 from where they were at, there is no reason to not go for it. The Bears are the better team, act like it. Lovie has no balls when it comes to going for it Again, are you not watching this game? it was a terrible play call on 3rd down, they should have run it and at least gotten close. No it wasn't. It was a short, easy pass. The line just blew 2 blocks and the ball got batted.

The Bears are the better team, act like it. Lovie has no balls when it comes to going for it Why would you give the Lions 25 yards to get to FG range with a minute left? You don't. You have confidence you can get the damn first down because you're the better team. Showing you are the better team would be pinning them down, stopping them in 3 plays, and getting the ball back on a short field with a chance to get a FG.
  3. How come you only show up when the Bears D isn't playing well. You've been blowing this horn all year. Their the 2nd best defense in the league. Get over it.

The Bears are the better team, act like it. Lovie has no balls when it comes to going for it You don't go for it near midfield with less than a minute to go. Granted the scored anyway, but you pin the team back and make them go at worst (with a touchback) 50 yards for a FG. If you fail on 4th from just over midfield, they only need 15-20 yards.
  5. If this were to happen this would almost certainly make Alex Gordon instantly expendable, fwiw That's a similar package to Archer and Colvin (along w/ another prospect or two). If I'm the Cubs, I'd get into the talks. I wouldn't offer Archer, but I'd pitch them a deal of Carpenter, Dolis, and Colvin, with maybe another lesser talented player thrown into the deal. Youd offer Carpenter, Dolis, and Colvin for Zach Greinke? Really? Kyle Drabek is one of the top prospects in baseball. I like Archer a ton, but he'll need at least a repeat performance in 2011 before hes on the same level as Drabek as a prospect. Wed probably have to offer more like Archer, McNutt, and Colvin, probably throw in someone like Carpenter or Dolis if we want Greinke. Drabek's pretty good, but it all depends on what those other 1 or 2 prospects from the Blue Jays are rumored to be. Colvin and Snyder are pretty even, with Colvin being 2 years older, but with more ML success (though Snyder's minors numbers are better). I think Cashner compares pretty well to Drabek. Drabek was BA's 25th rated prospect before last year. And while Cashner was 95, he had a 75 grade compared to Drabek's 70. So, I think you can trade 1 prospect as good as Drabek to match that deal, or you can trade 2 prospects that may be greater than Drabek combined to match it. Carpenter and Dolis may be debateable if they have more combined value than Drabek, but I was just throwing it out there.

  7. Good. Again, Chris Davis can play 3B and corner OF along with 1B. If he's a utility/bench player this is a great move. If he's the starting 1B, he better channel his minor league numbers.
  8. Oregon State's uniforms are all kinds of awesome. Oregon, well lets just say, they have much worse uniforms they could have worn.
  9. I had a dream this summer that Nick Swisher was the opening day 1B for the Cubs. I don't think that's extremely far fetched. Like has been mentioned, if they go out and get Crawford, Swisher could become expendable. Odds are, Gardner would be the odd man out, but it's hard to just bench a .383 OBP and 47 steals (even though Crawford would even out the stolen bases lost). With Posada likely getting a lot of time at DH, it's not like the Yanks could play all their OFs either way. Also, trading Swisher could help the Yankees get a couple more prospects in order to go after a big bat in a trade if necessary.
  10. ARe you talking about the Cubs or Red Sox? I think it would be a misuse of the Cubs resources, but not in the Red Sox case. They pretty much had to make this happen.
  11. You're nuts. It's not THE most pressing need, but it's up there. To be fair, some of the leading passing QBs this year have been throwing the ball to guys like: Seji Ajirotutu, Malcom Floyd, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, Jacob Tamme, Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal, Deion Branch, Brandon Tate, and Aaron Hernandez. Not exactly a who's who of NFL receivers. That being said, 3 of those 4 QBs that throw to the guys above are potential HOFs. The other is Kyle Orton and his team's always down 20 so they throw constantly. Teams have shown that if you have a good QB that can put the ball where it needs to go, someone will catch it and move the ball. But I don't think you can let a top talent go if he's sitting there in your lap.
  12. Done deal to Red Sox according to ESPN.
  13. Just saw the Walter mock draft. If Justin Blackmon goes 2 picks ahead of the Bears and the Bears get Baldwin, it'd just be a repeat of missing out on Ryan Clady and getting Chris Williams. Agreed. I'm not a big Baldwin fan. Living in Pittsburgh, I have seen a lot of Jonathan Baldwin, even back to HS. I wanted to see this year if he could stand out on a run-heavy team with an inexperienced QB. And I'm just not seeing it. He doesn't demand that ball like a #1 WR should. Not that he should be yelling at his QB and running his mouth to the media, but he's the clear elder statemen of a team with soph and freshman WRs and a soph QB, RBs, and TEs. But at this point in his career, I wanted to watch Pitt on a 3rd and 6 and say, "Ok, they are going to Baldwin here and he will move the chains." He doesn't get enough seperation from defenders quickly like Fitzgerald. To be 6'5", he isn't really a Calvin Johnson like jump ball threat. To me, he is a giant possession WR. I think you are talking about a guy with more Malcom Floyd upside than Calvin Johnson upside. Floyd has turned into a nice WR, but he's not a 1st round talent. Neither is Baldwin, IMO. On the other hand, Blackmon reminds me of Anquan Boldin. He won't run in the 4.4s, but he has good size, good hands, is a strong route runner, and is very physical. He's also a possession type WR, but he's going to be a guy that's going to be very good after the catch and will be able to get seperation because of his speed. It would be tough for me to commit to a 1st round WR, but he would be the guy I would go for.
  14. Brad Penny is older than Webb, and was never as good as Webb was last time he was healthy. Bonderman gives up a lot of hits, a lot of HRs, and doesn't strike out anyone. Both are likely to be healthier than Webb, but not by much.
  15. I didn't know (or remember) that the Cubs were in on Matt Capps. I wonder if it would have made a difference if the Cubs had Capps for the 73 innings he pitched rather than the 70 from Howry, Mateo, and Stevens. Oh and Webb would be wonderful. Doesn't help with the innings eating thing though.
  16. This is interesting. Forte has started 12 more games in a row than any other RB in the league? That's pretty remarkable and shows how short the shelf life of an NFL RB is.
  17. Bell has been inactive every game this season so far. Yeah, I know. Because he doesn't play special teams.
  18. I think the problem is that he is too similar to Forte. His value in Minnesota was he was a great 3rd down back that could receive, pick up the blitz, and give you some yards on a draw. Well, Forte being able to do all that and all of that better, makes Taylor redundant. I guess you can argue Taylor's prescence motivated Forte to play better, but that's probably not true as it's probably more of a case of Forte being healthy this year. Bell does deserve some carries.
  19. Chester Taylor, along with Brandon Manumaleuna, has been pretty worthless this year. 2.6ypc. Only 14 receptions. Barely 300 total yards this year. Good thing Peppers has been one of the top 3 defensive players in the league this year or else this would have been a terrible offseason. Especially since, ya know, they didn't use any of the tons of money they spent on an offensive lineman.
  20. I don't really see the point with Baker, Dewitt, and Barney around. I don't see the point of Baker, Dewitt and Barney being around.
  21. RIP Ronnie. I admit I got teary eyed. We love you Ronnie, our Ultimate Hall of Famer
  22. Is that even possible?
  23. I heard a bunch of websites were busted for selling jerseys illegally (knockoffs w/o proper licensing). I have a Payton I got from Ebay for like $30 that is about as authentic as I have ever seen. I also got a Forte from jersey101.com, which looks ok. All sewn.
