  1. Wanted Zobrist at the deadline. No desire to add another guy over 35 to this team.
  2. This is what frustrated me about that game. I really despise the idea of killing the clock to kick the field goal at the end of the game. That's what the defense is expecting you to do, therefore a screen pass or out route to your TE might be an easy touchdown. I do understand setting up the last play for the perfect position for the field goal, but why play right into the other team's strength on 1st and 2nd down? There are easily designed plays where you can keep the clock moving and not cost you any yardage. As much as I despise Green Bay and NE, they wouldn't have done this conservative "let's just settle for a field goal" crap. Nah. I think teams would do exactly that 99.9% of the time, especially considering they could not lose the TIE game at that point unless they did something bad throwing the ball. A close 2nd to scoring there is making sure your opponent can't score. Leaving them no time, makes it impossible to score.
  3. Cool. Make it happen then. This is kind of the reverse Rizzo/Cashner deal for the Cubs.
  4. Why would the Rays trade Snell? Do they really have THAT much pitching and lack hitting that much? I'd gladly take him AND someone else for Baez, but not sure what their incentive would be to make a deal. Anybody more familiar with that roster?
  5. 1. Carrasco 2. Odorizzi 3. Ross 4. Salazar 5. Teheran 6. Gausman 7. Miller 8. Cobb 9. Cashner This is barring more elite guys being made available.
  6. You wouldn't get him then. I know I said earlier I wouldn't trade Soler and Baez in the same deal. But if the Cubs got Gordon/Heyward (I like putting them in that order because of the basketball player), then I'd probably give up Soler, Baez, and Hedricks (along with minor leaguers) for Fernandez and either Ozuna or a reliever.
  7. I'd love Matt Moore, but I feel like the Cubs would still need another starter. Between the potential of him being injured/ineffective, Hammel being injured/ineffective, and Arrieta's 250 innings last year...I'd like a more stable arm, but I love Moore's arm talent. I'm probably asking for too much to get a guy like Moore and another SP, but I don't know that I'd feel comfortable otherwise. But yeah, if they could get Odorizzi with him (I'd be fine with Odorizzi along with a RP)....I'd be ecstatic. I'm a huge Underwood fan, but I'd be perfectly fine trading him for a talented arm the Cubs would have 3+ years control of.
  8. Some good stuff in there, despite the Shields to Cubs speculation. Some mention of Castro trade, Heyward on the radar, Quintana potentially being shopped for left side of IF help.
  9. Lot of blame to go around in this one. Gould is one of the highest paid kickers in the league though, can't miss either of the FGs he missed today.
  10. Don't Trestman's this bitch and kick on 2nd down.
  11. John Fox is our coach.
  12. Thank god for NOT Mariani
  13. Great run. Great drive. Cutler was great.
  14. Yeah you do. He sucks at football.
  15. Terrible offense. Been in 9ers territory all day.
  16. Goldman having a strong game.
  17. 24 second half plays 0 points.
  18. Ugh. Easiest call on the most unnecessary hold ever.
  19. I think that story's already developed. Did he have money on the packers or did he pass information to people who had money on the packers? 10 days ago... My first thought as well.
  20. Was just going to post this. I could be remembering wrong, but it seems like he's made WAY more money than most non-closing relievers in his career. He was pretty good this year and good the last time he pitched (2011, only time he was a closer).
  21. I think that story's already developed.
  22. McCaffrey broke the record today when he had 5 few touches than Sanders had in 88. Very impressive season. He'd get my Heisman vote.
