  1. Yep. Getting hyped because of his long arms, big hands, and plays with good strength. Looks like an athlete and getting drafted high based on that. But he doesn't look all that athletic (going by combine numbers and on field) to justify that. No quick first step, no edge speed. He's a bull rusher that has to rush to the inside of the tackle or stunt with a DT.
  2. I like Mercilus to the Titans much more than the recent trend of Glenn to the Titans. Still want Kirkpatrick/Jenkins/Gilmore in the first round, but a major pass rusher like Mercilus/Ingram/Brockers would be really nice as well. With the way Jenkins is apparently dropping, though, I wonder if he might be available to the Titans in the 2nd round. A Mercilus/Jenkins tandem would be pretty much a dream scenario for me. Janoris? Really? If you look up "Janoris" on Urban dictionary the definition says "Pacman Jones". You really want to make that mistake again?
  3. How so? Serious question, not trying to be a smart ass.
  4. I'll take that.
  5. If it means trading him to Cleavland so we can draft Richardson, count me in. Teams that might want him: Jets Tampa Bay Redskins Miami or we get cleveland's second pick and take coby fleener, then dan herron in the 6th instead of hanna. 1. mercilus 1. fleener 2. zeitler 3. jenkins 4. forston 5. dennard 6. herron 7. burfict unlikely, but i can dream I will likely jump off a bridge if the Bears take Fleener in the 1st round, whether its at 19 or 32. You don't trade Greg Olsen for a 3rd round pick and then draft Greg Olsen in the 1st round the next year. Fleener's damn near a clone. Oh yeah and that entire draft class would be the first ever to spend time together in mini-camps and prison.
  6. My personal, complete 1st round mock is available on my blog...... :good: http://mr-irrelevantpgh-chi.blogspot.com/
  7. Chargers select Chris Rainey, rb florida
  8. That's pretty decent. I like Nick Perry more than Mercilus. Bigger, faster, stronger. But Mercilus' production along with creation of turnovers is everything Lovie looks for in a DE. He still has AJ Jenkins on the board in the 5th, so I'd go with him over McNutt in the 4th. Nigel Bradham is an absolute steal in the middle of the 6th round. He's a 3-4 round talent.
  9. Jags select Chase Minnifield, CB Virginia
  10. Hester or some guy with a good 40 time we draft in the 4th or 5th round can stretch the field. The Bears need more receivers that can get open quickly and actually catch a pass. If Floyd is there, I think the Bears have to take him. Well the issue is a 4th rounder with a good 40 time is only going to be able to stretch the field. Getting a guy like Wright, Hill or Randle in the first, means you get a WR with pretty good potential than can ALSO stretch the field. I just think Floyd is head and shoulders above those guys. Hill strikes me as another Ashley Lelie. He is, but best case scenario for Floyd is to be a WR just like Brandon Marshall. Do the Bears really want that? Granted, having 2 really good WRs is never a bad thing, but when their strengths are the same it may not be maximizing the potential of your roster.

  12. Potter is the least polished of the two. Both are 3-4 year starters, but Datko has legit NFL size/strength, while Potter needs to get stronger. Potter put on about 10lbs for the combine to get over the 300lb mark. Datko took off about 10 and is still in the 315 range. And despite both being college LTs, gotta remember that Potter played with a left-handed QB, so he has never protected a QBs blindside. Potter probably needs to be in a zone blocking scheme, due to his lack of strength at the point of attack, but he is very athletic. Datko's shoulders are a huge issue though. He would have left FSU for the NFL last year if he was healthy.
  13. Turbin's a shifty running back from Utah State. Shifty isn't the word I would use for the 230 pounder. I kind of see him as a Shonn Greene clone. Yeah, not sure what I was thinking there. I might have been confusing Turbin with Utah State's QB from last year (Keeton, I believe) who is pretty shifty, and exciting. Or I might have been confused because I was posting right after I woke up. This teammate, Michael Smith, is a pretty underrated athlete and comes much closer to the shifty term. I like Smith quite a bit as a sleeper... I saw Utah State play twice this year, and Michael Smith was extremely impressive. He reminds me a lot of a faster version of Ahmad Bradshaw. FWIW, Turbin is probably the most (legally) ripped human being I've ever seen.
  14. I don't think Floyd falls. But if he does, I think the Bears value the depth at WR in this draft and would look to see if someone is in love enough with him to trade up from the 20s for him. Houston and SF would be the most likely teams to have interest. I think that way, the Bears can still get a decent DE (Mercilus, Perry, Branch or Jones), a DT (Reyes or Worthy, who I'm not sure the Bears even have looked at), or since Floyd is on the board at 19, the Bears could take a WR like Wright, Hill, or Randle (who all may be better fits to stretch the field now that Marshall is on the roster) in the 20s and get an extra draft pick.
  15. Wait, did Sveum really take out the cleanup hitter, and 2nd most productive hitter on the team, on a 5th inning double switch for Joe [expletive] Mather?
  16. Brett Jackson with a 2-out double his 2nd AB. Followed by an error and a walk. Then Anthony Rizzo with a 2-run bases loaded single.
  17. Very far. Arrested within a week of the draft. Questions about his speed to recover and stay with WRs in man coverage. Based on his last collegiate game, questions about his ability to handle big WRs. He is in a lot of trouble. Better hope someone takes a risk with him in the 5th or 6th, or else he's not going to be drafted at all.
  18. Looking at the roster, the Bears bring back every starter who started most of last year, other than Brandon Marshall replacing Roy Williams. So, there's no position where the Bears definitely need a starter, though it would be wise to get a couple (#2 WR, OL, SLB). If you look at the Bears depth right now, the only positions where the Bears aren't 4 deep with capable players are DT, OT, and maybe LB and Safety. This is not counting QB and RB where 4 capable players is unnecessary. I'm starting to think DT may be the pick really early. Hearing rumors that the Bears really like Brockers in the 1st if he's there at 19. I know they love Fletcher Cox, but he won't be there.
  19. I don't either, but they spent the better part of the 2000's doing just that. Hopefully all the talk is just talk and they actually will make an effort to improve the line through better talent, instead of just coaching. So far, Emery has done some nice things. He's not fixing everything at once, and probably not going "after it" as hard as many fans would want, but he made the Marshall trade and has grabbed some guys that can be decent pieces. But how he deals with the O-line in the draft is gonna tell me a lot about where this is heading moving forward. At this point I'd be much more excited to see him go after both sides of the line early and often than go after a WR. The WR need is real, but after the Marshall trade they can still get one in the middle rounds and try to develop. It's not like first round receivers are great bets or that late rounders/undrafted can't contribute. Yep. Cutler has shown he can be very productive without good WRs. Marshall has shown he can be very productive without good WRs alongside him. If Marshall can do anything to open up Hester like the Bears think, Bennett can continue to be a go-to guy for Cutler, and Knox can play at all the Bears still have the best group of WRs they've had in at least 15 years. I like Floyd, Wright, Hill, Randle, and all the top WRs....but the team still needs help on both lines first and foremost.
  20. If I had to guess, I would say Lance Louis would get first shot at RG, but Rachal will get a legit shot. I can't imagine they would even pick up another OG in the draft, as they now have Garza, E Williams, C Williams, Louis, Spencer, and Rachal that all have double-digit games of experience at OG. Because Edwin can back up OC, I think Spencer at $3Mil is the odd mad out. And I'd imagine the Bears the Bears will be looking at OTs in the draft, with the rumor of the moment being a midround pick used on OL. I don't see Chris Williams moving back to OT, unless it's necessary, and the Bears only have 2 true tackles on the roster, 1 being J'Marcus Webb who may not be a "true" anything.
  21. Pro Football Focus named him the best run blocking guard in 2010. He can't pass block worth a damn though, which is why he got benched in SF. Like has been said, he's young enough to improve as a pass blocker. It's a decent pickup though as the Bears RG hasn't been able to run or pass block since Garza was in his 20s. With Edwin Williams having played decent at LG last year and his ability to play C. I think Spencer and his $3 Million price tag is going to be gone.
  22. Yeah, I think there should be at least 1 every year. Hell, the Vikes and Lions should be relatively used to it, so it's not like they would be getting screwed by the scheduling. The Bears get screwed with a late cross country trip to Arizona.
  23. I actually like Norman more than Hosley. I've not watched much of either, but from what I've read, Norman seems to have much more upside and is a more complete corner. Hosley probably goes first, but I really like what I've read on Norman. I like Norman a lot too. But I like Norman in the 3rd or 4th vs. Hosley in the 2nd or 3rd. I don't know that I would pick Norman over Hosley unless it was a size thing. Norman does have more upside, but VT DBs can typically play and are well coached. Hosley also has elite ball skills with a 9 INT season under his belt in 2010. That's tough to overlook, even though he didn't repeat it this year.
