  1. Pretty sure it is. Don't really see why those fans should be kicked out. Most of us seem to think it was a HR so why should they get in trouble for thinking the same thing? Doesn't matter what they thought. Fan interference is fan interference. I guess I just disagree with it in this circumstance. Not on balls that bounce over third and are called fair and a guy leans over and picks it up as it bounces past, those I'd agree with. Same with the Jeter homer back in the day. This one, eh, I don't think the guy's arm was more than a foot past the fence, and he wasn't leaning over the wall with his arm dangling down way bellow the yellow line. I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying, just saying I think the punishment might be a bit harsh in this scenario. Can't rule it on a case-by-case basis. Reach in the field of play, you're thrown out of the park (or at least out of your seat).
  2. Jesus scores De Jesus. If only Shark was pitching.
  3. I blame the Braves for the umps getting the call wrong.
  4. we don't negotiate with terrorists. Agree. Let them kill Dempster. If the Cubs can't trade him nobody can!
  5. I don't think that's true at all. Why not? It very well could be. It could be, but it's far from the "most likely" scenario as stated.
  6. If anything, the Bears have been one of the better conditioned teams in the NFL under Lovie. Urlacher, Briggs, Peppers, Idonije, and the CBs have been on the field a ton of plays the last few years. Offensively, Forte has been in great shape the last 2-3 years after having knee surgery before his 2nd year (I believe). The only cases of players being overweight/out of shape are Marcus Harrison and players who have had offseason surgeries, but all have gotten it together pretty quickly.
  7. You can't put him in the bullpen. It serves no purpose and doesn't help the team. You can tell him that though. Not sure it would do them any good, because Dempster's not stupid and knows the team wouldn't screw themselves by putting him in the pen which only would lead to them not getting full value out of him on the roster or in another potential trade situation next year. Qualifying offer should be good enough to scare him, if anything would scare him into accepting the Braves trade. He'd be risking future years by basically accepting another 1 year deal where he could suck or get hurt with nothing guaranteed beyond 2013.
  8. Serious question. If the Cubs fail to move neither Dempster nor Garza, and Dempster accepts the qualifying offer.....will this be a negative on the front office? I understand that this is all Dempster's fault if he doesn't accept the Braves deal, but would you guys look at this as a failure of the front office to: a) communicate effectively with Dempster, Braves, whoever b) take the Dodgers package just to ensure Dempster wasn't back on the roster eating 12.5Mil salary c) be more proactive in trading Dempster and Garza sooner d) be more proactive in moving Garza BEFORE moving Dempster I don't think this is a strike against the front office, but just wondering how people will feel if Garza and Dempster are Cubs next year but NEITHER is signed long-term.
  9. I would too, but it's a kick in the nuts after seeing what we could of had. A huge kick in the nuts. But it was going to be no matter what.
  10. I'd still take the original rumor of Gould and Withrow. I didn't think that was a bad deal.
  11. Almora and Soler both with RBIs in the 2nd. Almora RBI groundout. Almora grounded out to SS with runners on 2nd and 3rd and both advanced. That's odd. Soler IF hit for RBI.
  12. $1.1 million signing bonuses don't go as far as they used to. Just made a 3rd error.
  13. Hey, Brett Jackson went deep, completing all 3 true outcomes. 2 Ks, a walk and a HR. Vitters also with a walk and a 2-run single in 4 PAs.
  14. Who the hell is Ben Carhart? some 22 year old dude beating up on 18-year old pitchers.
  15. Apparently, tons of scouts watching Garrett Richards tonight. Think Cubs could get him + Cowart in a Garza to Angels trade?
  16. Almora reached on an error. Soler reached on a failed force attempt. Both scored ahead of a Ben Carhart HR, taking over for Vogelbach at 1B. FYI, Almora and Soler playing CF and RF, respectively (fixed) and batting 3-4.
  17. Clearly a sign that they can't handle RF and CF defensively. Either that or they are going to be forever blocked by Brett Jackson and Bryan LaHair.
  18. Doubt it. If so, yes that would have been a great return. Astros won the trade, but the Pirates kinda "had" to do it. Their fan base would have been fine with giving up anyone not in their top 4 prospects for anyone that improved the team. But if they get a big bat, they're going to have to give up 1 I'd imagine....though probably not Cole or Taillon. Marte's probably gone though if they get a real upgrade offensively.
  19. Lineout to 2B in his 1st AB. Your hopes are dashed.
  20. What are the odds that the Cubs can use this to their advantage? Take the Dodgers trade, whatever it may be as long as it's reasonable and then spin Garza off to the Braves, who are obviously still looking for pitching. Garza for Delgado, Salcedo and others Dempster for Eovaldi and another pitching prospect
  21. it is a pretty crappy city though. The Applebee's of major US cities. Oooh, I like that. Never thought of it that way, but that's dead on.
