  1. If he goes to Atlanta, the deal is for Delgado. If he goes somewhere else or doesn't get traded, Delgado isn't an option anyway. The Braves can't really change their offer just because Dempster pitches tomorrow. And if they do, the Cubs decline it anyway.
  2. So, didn't he say yesterday that there was no trade? But today, there was a trade but he didn't OK it yet.
  3. Is he like 6'9"? That's the only excuse for his looks, a bad case of elephantitis or something. he's ugly because he has bright orange hair and skin that blisters under artificial light, raw. Damn, I don't understand white people.

  5. What a terrible list. I guess I can buy Detroit #1, if you go by the theory that Calvin Johnson is so much better than every WR on earth that he alone makes them the top WR corps. But if that's the case, Arizona should be much higher. But Cincy at #7 with AJ Green and 3 rookies? Jackson and Maclin in Philly ranked higher than more productive duos such as Nicks/Cruz, Wallace/Brown, Jones/White, Austin/Bryant? I even think 31 and 32 are mixed up. sbnation is basically the BleacherReport, meaning any dolt can write for them. I have no idea why articles like this upset you guys so much. Oh but it does. I'm so, so upset. It was posted with the assumption that it would spark conversation (as this is a message board)....so I commented. Not sure why that means I'm upset, but whatever.
  6. Oh the humanity. Aren't you an IU guy? Do you pity every single Hoosiers player who never played in a bowl game? Bowl game appearances are not a birthright. Yes, I am an IU guy. No I don't pity Hoosiers players who have never played in a bowl game because they know the odds are against them going to a bowl when they're only scholarship offers are IU, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. Bowl games are not a birthright, but it makes no sense that a group of kids good enough to get to play in a bowl game in Florida, Texas or California are forced to only play games in places like Madison, WI and Bloomington, IN because of something people did starting when the players were 4-6 years old. Again, I know that's how these things work...but that doesn't make it right. That is absurdly stupid. Bowl games are rewards for successful seasons. You are not guaranteed bowl games. Penn State missed a bowl game in four of five seasons last decade all by themselves. The kids can leave if they want. Nothing is being taken from them. The football program had to be punished and there is no way to punish the football program without something like no bowl game appearances. Really? I've [expletive] said your last sentence several times in this thread. And when did I say bowl game were guaranteed? They are definitely more likely at Penn St. than at IU, which is why good football players go to Penn St. over IU. And it's complete BS that nothing is being taken from these kids. Their first choice of where to go to school is being taken away. If they stay at PSU, their chance of having success is being taken away. Again, THIS IS HOW IT WORKS, CURRENT PLAYERS HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN PUNISHED FOR PAST DISCREPANCIES AND THERE IS NO WAY AROUND THIS (figured I should bold it since you apparently can't read it when I type it normal), but I still think it is unfair to people who had nothing to do with the situation.

  9. The comparison I first thought of around draft time was Brady Anderson. I don't know if it's that good of a comparison, but Anderson was mostly a 12-20 HR hitter in his career, with that 50 HR season a huge outlier.
  10. LOL. I love how every Bears article written by someone outside of the organization can be summed up as such. I hate Cutler, but he really grew up last year. I mean, he's still a jerk but he's a very talented QB. They had to (past or present articles) pay Forte. He's their best offensive weapon. They might have overpaid, but he's the only player on the team! Brandon Marshall is crazy! He gets kicked off of every team he's ever been on (2) because of his crazyness! It's almost like he has a personality disorder or something! But the Bears have to put up with his crazy because he works well with Jay Cutler, who is talented but only had good seasons when he had a threat at WR. Defense and special teams win every game for them, they score 100s of points off turnovers, 100s off of returns, and give the offense short fields, which is good because Forte is their only weapon and Cutler, who I hate, is always hurt behind that poor offensive line. But if they are healthy they can make the playoffs and if they are lucky, they could possibly beat Green Bay, who is vastly superior to them.
  11. Went just over the scoreboard.
  12. Soler strikes out looking in his 2nd AB.
  13. Technically, he hit the cutoff man who threw out someone at home. Though according to the play-by-play, the guy was trying to score from 1st on a line drive single to CF. That's probably not super accurate.
  14. Almora lines out to the pitcher in his 2nd AB.
  15. Almora reached on an E3 in his first AB. Vogelbach and Soler both struck out swinging.
  16. I know it's not the end all, be all....but Vitters up to 20 errors now (15 at 3B). Feels like a lot have come recently too. Probably what Sveum meant about his defense. Good news is his bat may be able to play at LF if necessary, if he keeps it up.
  17. I think Delgado is a better return than Lee. But I also think the Cubs still clearly need a couple more quality upper level arms. I'd hope they'd sign a FA starting pitcher regardless of the return for Garza, but you don't want to be forced into a position where you HAVE to sign a SP or be forced to start a rotation with Samardzija and Delgado at the top, with Wood and a couple rookies thrown in the mix.
  18. Iowa hasn't hit for crap in the last week or so. Jackson 0-4, with 3 Ks. Vitters 1-4 with a double and 2 Ks.
  19. Well that explains it. Most scouts don't think Baez is going to be playing SS when he reaches MLB. Even if scouts weren't changing their minds on that, why would you rush that decision when it doesn't need to be rushed and provides no benefit? It does some provide some benefit to start learning the position earlier. But as one of the writers said recently, a SS/3B transition is one of the easier ones for a player to make. And the benefits of sticking at SS are so much more valuable than 3rd that you really shouldn't move a player until the chances are a lot lower than Baez's of sticking there. I believe Kevin Goldstein said that and he's completely accurate. The shift from SS to 3B is definitely one of the easiest in all of baseball. Ripken, ARod, Hanley all did it in the prime-to-late prime of their careers without much struggle. Baez can definitely do it 2 years from now if necessary.
  20. If you get Lee and Eovaldi for Garza, it could set up pretty nicely for an off-season trade of Eovaldi for Olt. Ever since Olt was mentioned, I've played out various scenarios in my head where the Cubs have him on their roster.
  21. I don't know if the Dodgers have what I think would be enough for Garza.
  22. Delgado's posted a better FIP than Garza so far this year I was just gonna post, his numbers haven't been that bad. He's a league average pitcher right now at worst, and God forbid he could actually get better.
