I can see the argument for all 3 NOT being with the organization. But Soler and Almora are the two biggest acquisitions of this front office. Their big international signing and first draft pick. I think those guys were picked with the intention of being Cubs for a long time. Baez, I could see being gone, but that's only 2 seasons away and he's likely to be the first to get a look in the majors. And at this point if Baez isn't traded this offseason, he's either going to be one of the top prospects in baseball or would have taken a hit to his value. Either way, it's hard to imagine a rebuilding team to trade a top prospect or a guy they won't get full value for.

Thanks Crennel and Pioli? That's traumatizing. I can't see how the Chiefs play their game tomorrow. I figured they would play before I heard about the coaching staff witnessing the shooting. I guess you could cancel/postpone a game based on that, but it's still a delicate situation of a player who did something really terrible. Usually things like that aren't shown the respect of cancelling a game. This is a lot different situation from like say, Darryl Kile back in the day.

Wow. I didn't hear that. Crazy if true. If it's not concussions it's the general lifestyle, supplements, pain killers, or whatever. You gotta be a certain type of person to make it in the NFL. The alpha male personality it takes to play can lead to terrible things if taken off the field.

Not trying to make this about anything other than a family who lost their daughter/sister/aunt/cousin. But how does the team handle this situation? You can't really make an outward display to mourn a guy that killed his GF and left his 2 1/2 month old child parentless other than a moment of silence before the game. This isn't a Sean Taylor situation where you show a highlight montage pre-game for him and wear helmet stickers for him. Well, maybe you can wear a helmet sticker, but this is a messed up situation. Feel bad for everyone involved in this situation. The NFL really needs to do something, because it's not a coincedence that there have been several young men dying during or soon after their careers.

I'm not sure if anyone ever got to this, but just an FYI for those who may not know...James McAdoo is NOT Bob's son. Bob McAdoo is James McAdoo's dad's second cousin. So, his third cousin?? My bad

Kent St. wasn't going to the BCS if they won anyway. Didn't look good enough for most of the game.

Choo's a FA after the year and going to get about 6-7 Mil next year in arbitration, I don't think he'd cost very much. None of the Cubs top 7 or so prospects, depending on where you consider Brett Jackson. I could see Jackson and a middle of the road arm for him.

Sweeeeeeeet Choo would be really nice. Chisenhall with him would be nicer. Ubaldo with them to give them salary relief, even better.

Khaseem Greene is a really good LB for Rutgers. Has 125 tackles this year. Looks more like a WLB to me (Briggs spot) than a potential Roach replacement though. Could also be looking at Logan Ryan, CB for Rutgers. 2nd-3rd round pick. Should be able to play outside or nickel. Louisville only has an undersized center and a 3rd day pick at CB. Not much else draftworthy or draft eligible on that team.

Rather have Jurrjens for nothing than Porcello for anything breathing.

It's tough for teams to travel multiple time zones and get a win. It's just human nature to struggle when your routine is severely altered.

I think it is underestimated how quick the top guys could move. If Baez and Soler rake at high A, they could move to AA in a couple months. AAA isn't NE necessary for elite prospects who are not blocked in the majors....especially on a bad team. If Baez especially is a top 10 prospect after this year, best case is he's up in 2014 in mid June. Solers timetable may not be that fast, bbased on less pro experience than Baez.

I could see if he lost the year a couple years ago, but this was last year. We don't know how he's going to come back from it yet and there was always questions with him staying in the rotation.

I was happy IU got Butler instead of ND this year. But now I'm really worried about the Butler game. In their backyard and they'll make sure IU pays for coming out sloppy if they do like they did vs Georgia.

I like Soler more than Almora. To me, his physical tools are better. And he put up better numbers playing at a higher level most of the time. Granted, he's 2 full years older than Almora, but he really started to rake toward the end of the season.

I too want a backup QB, there are just so many areas that need addressing and I would wait for a backup QB next year when there are better prospects on the board. This year's QB class is weak but very strong on the DL. You gotta get 2 quality OL and 1 TE at the very least in FA or through the draft. If we could sign Finley or another decent TE to open up holes on the field and lay down a competent block occasionally we should be looking good. I really thought Zach Miller should have been a target this past offseason to be a stopgap TE. The QB was a 6th round pick. The Bears 6th rounder this year, got cut. Typical 6th rounders (especially down where the Bears will be selecting) are lucky to make the roster. A developmental QB in the 6th is just as useful as any other 6th round pick. As for the TE thing, I'm trying to work out the money for next year, but the Bears are going to be pretty tight this offseason from what I can tell. Peppers and Tillman get big raises, though I'd imagine both restructure. Cutler will get an extension. Melton needs to be re-signed for a lot more than he's currently making. Then you still have the Urlacher issue. I personally think the Bears bring him back on a 1-year deal (if he is willing to accept). If not, LB goes way up on the priority list with the potential replacement, Roach also being a FA. And the Bears have to replace a lot of depth, including both backup CBs, their top backup LB (Hayes), starter at SLB. Both backup QBs are FAs. All of Rachal, Spencer, and Louis are FAs. Then you have to worry about guys like Tillman, Jennings, Briggs, Wright, Hester and Gould all being FAs in 2014 (not to mention Cutler). I'd rather save all the money they can for OL help. This is a deep FA class at LT. OL gets huge edge over TE for need. But TE is also a deep position in free agency, and is combined with a weak draft at the position. I'd hate to take Eifert in the 1st. But the Bears could be drafting too late for Ertz in the 2nd. After that, you're looking at a 4th round TE. AT that point, I'd rather just take my chances with Davis/Rodriguez and co. again, unless there's some basketball player out there that is a potential stud.

After the draft I made a Brady Anderson minus the 50 HR season aberration. I like the Dye comp for Soler. But I think he could be better.
