  1. Heart of order just got out. Arrieta is good for 2 more.
  2. Hahaha. Pinch hitting before 1st AB of a guy that shouldn't have been in the lineup anyway
  3. First you stole my name......then my heart.
  4. Obviously it might not matter but I really like that Jake is on normal rest. Like you said, hopefully Cole is off a bit early and the Cubs can take advantage before he settles in. Last time Cole pitched on more than 4 or 5 days rest, was the last time he faced the Cubs in PNC. He allowed 4 runs (3 ER), on 6 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
  5. Jeffery is the only free agent of that group, so no reason they all shouldn't be back. And I think OL has to be the #1 pick and you probably have to bring in a FA (Bushrod needs to be gone). But yeah, this team isn't that far off. They are a really good LT from being a top 10 offense (top 1/2 of the league when Cutler has played this year, without Jeffery and White). And it looks like McPhee and Goldman are building blocks on D. Amos, Fuller, and McClellin also have shown flashes of being decent the last 2 weeks.
  6. This can't be true! NO NO NO NO! YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPIN ME!
  7. No idea what to expect. Well, I do expect them to be one of the top 4-6 teams in the conference again, but I don't really have a good feel on how far they'll go in the playoffs. Don't think we'll see a repeat, but hopefully another strong season.
  8. That makes sense. Cubs going 3 or 4 deep. I thought it worked out where they'd only need 3 starters.
  9. I would consider it, but Coghlan picked it up over the weekend with his bat making the decision tougher. It's a tough choice. Coghlan is better against righties..you could start Jackson and bring Coghlan in if we need a bat later or start Coghlan and bring in Jackson if we have a small lead for defense. The difference is if we started Jackson and PH Coghlan later, the Pirates would probably bring in a lefty, nullifying him and getting Jacksons D out of the game. Cole has a reverse split, too. I could see the argument to start Jackson in LF and bring in Coghlan against a reliever. I'm strongly leaning this way. I think defense/speed is more important in what should be a low scoring game. hasn't hit Cole and Jackson hasn't seen him. Throw in the splits and Coghlan is the 4th LH against a guy that's tough against them. And the Cards have no LH starters, so Coghlan will probably start every game of that series. They have Jaime Garcia, and he's actually been really good. Forgot about him. But I figured he'd be bumped from the rotation anyway. Figured Wacha, Lackey, and Lynn would be their 3 starters.

  11. You guys are making me nervous. I wasn't nervous at all til reading the responses. I'm fairly confident about this game.
  12. The Chiefs aren't good enough to be 10 point favorites over anyone. But they do present a lot of really terrible matchups for the Bears. Justin Houston vs. the Bears OTs, and they have an elite TE and super shifty RB...2 things the Bears have always struggled against way back to the Wannstedt days. If the Bears can block Houston, or at least block everyone else pretty well and give him extra attention, I think Cutler can throw all over this defense.
  13. I wouldn't affect his routine. He's already on regular rest, he'll have warmed up in anticipation of pitching. Even if it's 10+ before he takes the mound, I let him go. I don't even know that I would limit his pitches to anything super low, because there's really no chance he would be able to pitch anything but Game 3 if he pitches Wednesday regardless.
  14. Amazing that Cutler was able to do what he did today with Bennett, Wilson, Royal and Forte as his only viable receiving options. They are headed the right way on defense. And as long as that unit can keep the team in it, and Cutler is the QB, the Bears will be competitive every week.
