  1. http://daytona.cubs.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140330&content_id=70454196&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t450&sid=t450 Entire Daytona roster:
  2. Interesting topic. I think both pitcher heavy then and hitter heavy now are/were the correct approaches. Things go in cycles. In the 90s and early 2000s, the league was very hitter friendly. You had steroids or whatever and good hitters were a dime a dozen. Now, you aren't seeing the huge offensive numbers any more. So, basically its about scarcity. There seems to be more guys with mediocre stuff putting up good numbers now. But I think that's because of a lack of good hitters. So if u can develop good hitters. .....
  3. Kevin Ollie was in the NBA in 2010? Wow.
  4. I don't agree with that. They're as good as any team in the West. I'm not expecting a repeat Cup, but I'd be surprised and disappointed if they aren't in the West Finals or take the team that beats them to get to the West Finals to a very tough 6-7 games.
  5. I'm surrounded by Pens fans, and I was pretty sure they were awarded the Stanley Cup last March by listening to them assholes.
  6. - Matt Miller Read that. I'd guess Gilbert would be gone. He's gotta be a threat to go every pick from about Minnesota (8th) on. I like Dennard, but don't know if I love him in the top 15. Of course, I'd almost never pick a CB in the top 20 unless I'm getting Patrick Peterson/Joe Haden.
  7. I don't think the offensive needs are just as important, simply because of age. The offense is relatively young. Garza is the only player 31 or older on the offense (Cutler and Marshall are 30). The defense has 6 projected starters who are older than Cutler. Plus, every defensive position (other than maybe LB) sees a lot of rotation. Gotta get younger depth on defense.
  8. Probably everything. Crowd noise, facing an OT that can't hear the snap count, and everyone usually performs better at home in every sport.
  9. I think you can draft a TE that would be able to play a ton, a WR that can easily move to 3rd on the depth chart that often uses 3 or 4 WR and 3 OL positions that can change hands this year with the right draftee. True enough. I just think there are diminishing returns on upgrading the offense compared to the defense at this point. That's not to say that if there wasn't an unbelievable value on offense, I wouldn't want them to take him and worry about the rest later. I like the offense but do not think for a second we are at the point of diminishing returns on upgrades there. The WR group is a 2 man operation. There is one legit NFL TE. The offensive line is stable but very unspectacular. The RB has a lot of miles and the QB is not Peyton Manning in his prime. There's literally room for improvement at nearly every spot. The OL also played every snap in 2013, until the final game where only Mills missed plays. That scares me. OLs typically don't stay healthy, though Bushrod and Slauson have never missed a game and Garza hasn't missed in years. Oh and the only backup to play on the OL last year, isn't on the team anymore.
  10. Which makes sense if he's rushing the passer. But they could still tell him to bulk up and move inside. I guess we'll see. Nah, you don't pay a guy 35Mil (more than Allen, FWIW) based on what he's done and then tell him to put on 30lbs and change positions.
  11. Agree 100%. And lost in the historically bad run defense last year was the fact that the pass rush was just as bad. And even with a terrible run D, the Bears are still a playoff team last year if they could have executed better on pass D. Regardless of the run D, they missed the playoffs because they were the only team that couldn't stop RG3 all year. They blew a coverage to Green Bay. They couldn't stop a 4th and very long with a backup QB throwing from his own end zone. They couldn't get off the field on 3rd down against a backup QB in St Louis. Allen should help that immensely.
  12. I've voted for him at least the last 7 rounds.
  13. This has been a very good offseason. I still want to see us draft a DT (or 2), S, and LB but the D is looking much improved. If this team stays healthy we will be watching them play well into 2015. Yeah, I'd imagine DT, S, LB, CB will be 4 of the first 5 picks. Probably in that order. I love the thought of a 1st round pick like Hageman or Nix on run downs with Houston, Young and Paea. But I also love the thought of a 1st round interior pass rusher like Aaron Donald with Allen, Houston, and Young
  14. Oh and I really want to play Seattle. I just have so much animosity for them. Between the crappy loss to them to basically keep the Bears out of the playoffs in 2012, the [expletive] talking they did all playoffs long this year, and now the Michael Bennett and Jared Allen stuff (both players were reported to signing with the opposite team)....I really want the Bears to play them ASAP. Last time they played, Brandon Marshall destroyed the Legion of Boom to the tune of 10 catches, 150 yards. Sherman ducked Marshall all game and covered then #2 WR, Devin Hester most of the game (Jeffery was hurt). While Marshall was on the opposite side. When Sherman did cover Marshall, Brandon beat him for the big jump ball hail mary play that got the Bears in range for the game-tying FG. Now the Bears got Jeffery, Sherman can't duck a good WR. The Bears OC was also Mike Tice that year, enough said. I personally think it would be a helluva game and the Bears can beat them if they contain Wilson in the pocket, which was the main reason they lost in 2012.
  15. I've been pretty quiet on the Allen front. I honestly didn't want him for the longest time because he's old. But the more I thought about it, this was almost a "must" move for the Bears. Once the Packers got Peppers, the Bears had to make the next move. As it stood, the Packers + Peppers increased their advantage over the Bears by a decent amount, if only for the fact that Peppers almost certainly will beast against the team that cut him. Allen is a big splash move, and it just so happens he has dominated the GB O-line in his career. He missed the 1st game against them this past year, and was just coming back by the 2nd game. But he had at least 3 sacks against them in 2011 and 2012. And has had more success vs. the GB OTs than he's had against anybody not named J'Marcus Webb.
  16. I feel like they've been waiting to make this a rule once Tony Gonzalez officially retired. Yeah, but PFT thinks it was more of a "jimmy graham broke the goalpost" thing. I figured that would be cited, but I've felt this rule was coming for a few years.
  17. I feel like they've been waiting to make this a rule once Tony Gonzalez officially retired.
  18. Could there be something in the works regarding DeSean Jackson? Dear god, that would be ridiculous. What are they saying Jackson would cost? I doubt whatever the assets it would take would be worth it from the Bears perspective. Rumor is they're asking for a 3rd and no one is willing to pay that price, so might be able to be had for less or just cash if he really is released at the meetings as is anticipated. They can't release him. Would be a 12.5Mil dead cap hit. Can't restructure him because he won't agree to it. Can't trade him because nobody wants to pay him the rest of his 5 year/48Mil contract (4 years left) AND give up a 3rd round pick.
  19. Mine too. Wanted them a month ago.
  20. I'm passing my pick. I have no [expletive] idea.
  21. I think I wanted Thaddeus Young.
  22. They don't have to worry about the rookies til May. They can spend all 10.46Mil on Allen if they want. I don't think it would be more than a Peppers' like contract, and he only has a 7.5M guaranteed and a 3.5 cap hit this year. He wants Ware money, but I think he could be had for Peppers money. Still not sure I actually want him though.
  23. Ratliff cost more than the minimum last year. Not sure how much, but typically you don't need more than a couple million. And u can always restructure someone with a long term deal in season. They must be using the money. I would have thought extending Marshall or restructuring Jennings would have come first if not.
  24. 10.46Mil under the cap now.
  25. Etherington is going to transfer now too. I've heard rumors that there might be 1-2 more? Basketball in the state of Indiana is a mess right now. Hollowell and Marlin are rumored to be next. It's actually pretty crazy to me that Maurice Creek was GW's leading scorer this year. Just found that out in the tourney.
