  1. Bummer, I was hoping Kerry Wood would sneak in as a "B", but it looks like we'll get nothing for him now (if he leaves).
  2. Doesn't Wuertz start to become more expensive soon? I believe he becomes arbitration eligible this season. I just wonder if the Cubs might consider including him in a package deal to upgrade at another spot.
  3. Anyone know where we pick in the draft next season? Going by the amount of losses we had, it would appear that we would be at # 19 overall (before FA signings).
  4. BA has him ranked at # 7 overall in the Midwest League Top 20 List (just released). The only Cub to make the list.
  5. I think we've all aged about two years over the last two days
  6. All three players are under Brewer team control for a while. Braun was just called up mid season, so Brewers control his rights for the next 6 years. Fielder and Hart, I'm guessing are under control each for at least the next 4+ years. None of those players are going anywhere.
  7. Ha! good. Yeah, me likey..........
  8. Ed Wade gets the job per Jayson Stark, ESPN
  9. I miss Derrek Lee (The 2005 Version)
  10. Geez - Ryan Braun is a beast.......2 Run shot - 30 now on the season. @ .1000 OPS.....Yowza
  11. Good point. I suppose the scenario you have outlined is a possibility. I'd love to see it happen.
  12. Really? How do you figure? I don't doubt that he could be possibly classified as an Type A after the season, but it would be pretty foolish for Hendry to offer Kendall arbitration for fear from a Cubs standpoint that he would surely accept it. I'd rather not see the Cubs pay Kendall $10MM or thereabouts for next season. If Kendall declines arbitration, then he would be more foolish than Hendry for offering it to him in the first place.
  13. Nice job Dumpster. Tying run coming to the plate with a 4 run lead to start the inning. Nice work.
  14. Meh, Hendry probably figured he owed Dombrowski after dumping Neifi on him last year.....
  15. I'm surprised that the Phillies didn't put in a claim. I believe that their pitching is in worse shape than the Dodgers (especially with Hamels on the DL)..... Dodgers may have have had first waiver crack at him however, since their record is just slightly worse than PHL's.
  16. It's interesting to see Stark's tidbit, in contrast to what Bruce had to say in his article on Prior over this past weekend... I'm not sure where both guys are getting their information.....Is it their own opinion's or if they have talked with "people in the know". It will be interesting to see what actually does happen.
  17. Still can't believe Hendry was able to unload him on DET.
  18. He's making $5MM this season and is a FA at season's end.
  19. Like I said, everyone in Philly hates him, and he probably hates everyone in Philly. I'd be in favor of a Floyd / Burrell RF platoon situation. He has said previously that he would waive his NTC to go to Chicago. That may have been the Sox (last season) though. I bet with PHL's pitching being in such dire straights right now, we might be able to peddle Eyre off on them too.
  20. We would have to kick more garbage in PHL's direction (Eyre). Burrell is owed $14MM next season. I believe Jones gets $5MM next year. Besides, I'm not sure where you play Burrell since we already have a LF.
  21. Izturis, Jones, and Eyre to PHL for Burrell. Gillick gives us the difference in Burrell's salary for next year so that the $$ washes. A very productive player for three extremely crappy ones? Why not suggest ARod if we're going to ignore reality? How can he be productive when he's not playing? He's sat on the bench in six of their last nine games. He's hitting .205 overall and .146 since April 25th. If that's productive, then I apologize.
