  1. Man, you've completely lost me on this one. I think they are the best to listen to, by a fairly wide margin. Same here. I love Mike Patrick. Are you guys serious? Among the football community I belong to these guys are one man short be being the four horsemen of the apocolapse. They are easily the worst football crew ever assembled. I think I would rather listen to a non-stop loop of a babies crying during the game than these guys. I agree that Patrick is serviceable but the Thiesman McGuire combo is brutal. Sometimes I wish LT would go into the booth and break theisman's leg again so he would just shut up. McGuire's "Let me tell ya, this guy, you see this guy right here? Let me tell ya, this guy right here, he's a football player! Ha Ha Ha! I mean, let me tell you, this guy, he likes to play football, ha ha!" is unbearable. You two are honestly the first people I have encountered who actually like these guys. I usually watch the Sunday night games on mute (I do like to hear the sounds of the game though). This topic was discussed during the football season, probably before you came around. I think there are several people that agree. As a three person booth, I think all three work well together. I generally can't stand Joe Theisman, but I think he offers quite a bit from the booth. And, while Paul McGuire is the goof of the bunch, he is entertaining to me, and his banter with Patrick and Theisman is fun to listen to. The three of them strike a good balance of football vs. other talk. Michaels and Madden are awful together and have been since day one. Simms and Gumbel are good, but I prefer a 3 man booth and those two can be dry on occassion. Collinsworth is a nob, but Aikman is continuing to grow in his role, I think. The ESPN crew is the best for my money. For the sake of this thread and for not rehashing old discussions, I'll just say that I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. I hate those guys and the butcher job they do probably more than I dislike anyone involved with the game of football.

They offer little insight of substance and pretend every play is the best play they have ever seen. You two are honestly the first people I have encountered who actually like these guys. 3. Not to go too off-topic but, the badness of Buck/Mccarver combo, doesn't even hold a candle to the ESPN Sunday night football team. Buck/McCarver sound good compared to them. I supposed my standards have been lowered.
  4. Woo-Woo rules. The best part about him is how he annoys the crap out of everyone but me.
  5. And even when they will lose and he's down in AAA, it'll STILL be his fault! By his squandering his ability and not playing all star caliber CF for the Cubs, then he is the result of the losses we receive when he isn't here too! :x I sure hope this is sarcasm, because if this post is meant to be taken seriously I'm going to have to put on my hip boots to wade through this crap. You wouldn't have to wade through the crap if Corey's bad play hadn't forced to me make these comments. That's his fault too, it seems.
  6. 1. Hairston - CF 2. Nomar - SS 3. Lee - 1B 4. Ramirez - 3B 5. Burnitz - RF 6. Walker - 2B 7. Barrett - C 8. Holly/Murton - LF
  7. Upon further reflection, I couldn't care less where Arod plays.
  8. A-Rod did look at his citizenship card. It has two countries on it as he has dual citizenship, USA & DR. The United States doesn't recognize dual citizenship, I'm fairly sure. The DR may recognize his U.S. citizenship, but the U.S. doesn't recognize his DR citizenship. I think you're right on here. This issue often comes up with respect to Jewish citizens granted citizenship by Israel. My sister ran into this when going for her UK citizenship. I'm not really sure what the implications of not being recognized is. To be honest, I'm really not sure if I can think of anything other than not being able to claim to be a forein national in the U.S.

  11. I put the entire blame for any loss on Corey. Since Corey hasn't been on the team we have won every game. Coincidence? I think not.
  12. I'd say I agree with this. Especially the bolded part. It's hard to think of these playes as people when most of the time, they are treated as commodities.
  13. What does the amount of money one makes have to do with it? If a sales manager sucks, does an intern(s) have a right to boo him? Is the intern under contract? Is corey boo-ing his boss? Are they doing sales in front of 20k drunk people who hope that they make the sale and have been hoping for years? I understand what you are trying to say, but this is a ridiculous example. The money comes from the fans and goes to the players. That's why people get upset about people playing poorly and making a lot of money (To the common man). Booing is an emotional response. I don't think anyone boo's to "improve the player."
  14. Me, too. Go Broncos! Barrington Broncos, Hat's off to thee! To our colors, true we shall ever be! So firm and strong, untied are we! Rah Rah BHS Rah Rah Rah Rah. Horray for the Red and White! Fight fight fight! Disclaimer: The school song was the same from 1-12 grades for me with only the school name chaged.
  15. Without having any idea what happened, this was my guess. Thanks!
  16. Cardinals fans: What happened to this guy? A little while ago I felt like (I could be off) he was a termendous young fielder with a weaker bat, but surely an up and comer. Where did this dude go?
  17. Yes, you are. Come now. Are you saying the pitcher has no impact in the game whatsoever? I understand that as a stand alone stat, win's are more a measure of the team's preformance than the individual pitcher's. But, the team's preformance (W-L record) is a reflection of the preformance of the Batting and the Pitching. You cannot say that it has nothing to do with the pitcher. It's completely absurd to say so.
  18. no, they don't. i'm fine with buehrle. clemens is being punished for 2 reasons 1. he's started before 2. larussa playing favorites carpenter has no business starting this game. 1. It can be debated. With 7 wins, I don't believe he should be the starter. His other #s support him, so I see your point. I don't agree, but that's because I think that Wins are an important stat. That, and Clemens got shelled in last years game. Of the other 2 pitchers, Carpenter has as many or more wins, more Ks a slightly higher ERA and lower WHIP. You can make a case for Clemens, but to say that Tony is playing favorites is a weak leg to stand on. Tony had 1 pick to make to fill out his squad, and he didn't pick a Cardinal. W K ERA WHIP Roger Clemens 7 112 1.48 0.95 Roy Oswalt 12 118 2.39 1.08 Dontrelle Willis 13 95 2.39 1.14 Chris Carpenter 13 128 2.51 1.07 Sweet lord. Wins are NOT an important stat for pitchers. How is it his fault that his team does not produce for him. Out of that group Clemens has the lowest ERA and the lowest WHIP. Those are important stats for pitchers. Wins, really, have nothing to do with the pitcher. A pitcher could go out and throw a perfect game every single time, but not win a single game. His team has to put up runs for him. While, I understand that wins aren't the best way to measure pitching preformance, lets not get carried away.
  19. She looks like an alien.
  20. Every friggin negative thread turns into a Dusty Bust-a-thon. Christ. I thought we were talking about CP, Doobs and who will play CF for us? I sure don't want Hairston in there full time. Do you have an opinion on my question? no? Then don't respond. We know you are a Dusty apologist why do you feel the need to include it in every response you make? I simply asked the question as to why you never see elite college baseball coaches offered jobs as MLB managers. I thought it was a very good question.
  21. I was just thinking: Considering that Lee might be out a few more games do you think we could see the following people play? Hollandsworth (1B) Walker (2B) Nefi/Cedeno (SS) Aramis (3B) Murton (LF) Hariston (CF) Burnitz (RF) Barrett © Not in lineup order, of course. I think this could (I hope) be what we see over the next few games.
