  1. Castro has now walked in 5 straight games. Hopefully this improved patience will become a habit.
  2. Pena just destroyed a baseball.
  3. Might want to check that math. Whoops. I looked at total bases instead of hits for Castro. Castro is really averaging 1.23 hits per game, which is still really good.
  4. Castro now has 190 hits on the season. He's averaging 1.68 hits per game for his career. For comparison, Pete Rose averaged 1.19. If he can avoid injuries, Castro is going to rack up a boatload of hits.
  5. Jackson needs to stop taking all those walks if he wants to play for the Cubs.
  6. (Insert obligatory wife-beating joke here.)
  7. He got caught once? Did he trip or something?
  8. No, he didn't say after the 9th. He said, "at the end of the 9th or later."
  9. Cubs are 49-0 when they lead at the end of the 9th inning or later. :D You sure we haven't taken the lead in extra innings and blown it this year? There wouldn't be extra innings if we lead after the 9th ;) False! What if they're on the road smart guy? :D The end of the 9th is still the end of the 9th whether you're on the road or at home. If the Cubs hold a lead after 9 innings of baseball have been played, then they can't blow it.
  10. That's a 100-win pace. I'd say that's better than "kind of decent."
  11. Brett Jackson with HR #5. Struck has pitched 4 innings giving up 4 hits and 1 run so far.
  12. They're at it again. Soto, Pena, and DeWitt have all gone deep.
  13. Simpson was decent today. 4 IP 3 H 1 R 3 BB 4 K
  14. Any chance Rusin could be successful in the majors? I doubt he'd be much worse than some of the crap the Cubs have run out there this year.
  15. The DSL Cubs2 massacred the DSL Nationals 13-2. Candelario went 2-4 with another walk. He's currently sporting a .454 OBP.
  16. Heck with it. How about they just win every game the rest of the season and finish 102-60?
  17. Isn't it time some Tennessee relievers got promoted? Iowa (and Chicago) could certainly use some pitching help.
  18. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/hitting/hiwalk1.shtml What a bunch of bums. I'm so glad we don't have players like them in our system.
  19. Maybe Coleman should try to pull an Ankiel.
  20. One of the 2 hits being a home run, his 8th of the season. Which I intended to mention but somehow left out. Not sure how I managed to do that.
  21. Vitters went 2-3 with a walk today.
  22. Reyes is finally going on DL. So it's probably down to Ronny Cedeno and Ryan Theriot. Cedeno's on the DL, too.
