  1. I think the only fans who don't have anything to be excited about are Astros fans. Is there anyone on that team who has a chance at becoming a star player in the next few years?
  2. Jack Quinn, although just barely. His final game was 6 days after his 50th birthday.
  3. Good: I can watch this game. Bad: It's on FOX, so there will be two, possibly three, blithering idiots calling the game.
  4. The audio isn't even working for me.
  5. *yawn* Another ball absolutely crushed by Soriano. What else is new? :D
  6. For the opening game, it was Len Kasper and Mick Gillespie.
  7. I think DeJesus should stop trying to steal. He's 51 for 97 in his career. That's a crappy success rate.
  8. That's the only reason I refuse to buy MLB.tv, too. I can't watch Cubs games with it because I'm in their "home territory." I'm 180 miles south of Chicago! Come on, MLB! Blacking out games down here accomplishes absolutely nothing.
  9. I wouldn't call that dumb. I'd call that having fun with sample sizes. It happens every year during Spring Training and the first week or two of the regular season.
  10. I was curious, so I checked last year's schedule. CSN 70 WGN 64 (3 potential ESPN games, 1 potential FOX game) FOX 10 CSN+ 8 WCIU 8 ESPN 4 Not a huge difference, but it's a nice change. I guess my memory was a little fuzzy. I thought WGN carried fewer games than that last year.
  11. WGN is carrying 70 games this year? That's a decent improvement over the last few years. Me likey!
  12. How about rooting for a 7-game NLCS with numerous extra innings affairs and several injuries so whichever team finally comes out on top easily gets destroyed by the Tigers or Rangers in the World Series?
  13. The Cubs need more WAR and less wharrgarbl. Meh. I tried.
  14. All whining aside, it is pretty stupid to play late afternoon games if you ask me.
  15. 9-5, but it was 14 games. Not really anything to read into. ETA: Lee OPS around 1060, and 5 steals(??) at that point. He used to have above average speed. He stole 21 bases in 2003.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Cubs were over .500 when Lee got hurt.
  17. Joey Devine. There's a name I hadn't heard in a while.
  18. Do the Cubs have anyone in the minors who could conceivably become a decent regular 3rd baseman at the Major League level? From what I've heard, Vitters' defense is absolutely atrocious.
  19. Bringing Ramirez back is the obvious, logical choice, so of course the Cubs won't do it.
  20. The black guy is Dolis.
  21. I would love to see a 3-way tie.
  22. I would love nothing more than seeing the Cubs kill the Cardinals playoff hopes this weekend.
  23. According to Gameday, ball 2 to Soto was almost right down the middle. Was it really that bad of a call?
  24. The apocalypse must be near. Barney just drew a walk.
  25. I guess the Red Sox are trying to finish the season like they started it.
