  1. Look at the struggles of other closers around the league this year - with that in mind Dempster has really had nothing but success as a closer. If you are going to demote him to set up man even though he hasn't failed as a closer you might as well trade him.
  2. I read an article on Bob Feller ( which I thougt was excellent btw ) in SI and I'm pretty sure he said in there that he would get through the 7,8,9 hitters simply by letting up a little and coasting through which would let them throw more pitches. Feller's stats are mind boggling - I went back and looked at them after reading the article.
  3. Is Francona using him as a Loogy?
  4. Of all the stats I've ever read, that's by far the most conclusive helping me work out today's result. 8) Did Phil win? I haven't heard.
  5. No big deal US. I've been married 15 years and am very used to getting nitpicked (and nagged) :) I honestly think Ramirez could be the next Pujols if he adopted some of Prince Albert's work habits. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I think a lot of ARam's nagging injuries could be avoided with better diet, conditioning and training. One would think with the money the Cubs are paying him, he could afford a personal trainer. With Leyland as manager next year (wishful thinking), any POSSIBLE lack of hustle would not be tolerated. If you don't hustle for Leyland does he make you sit in the dugout and smoke cigs with him :?:  Yes, but when the smoke finally clears he let's you look at his World Series ring. I'm all about Leyland - I just remember that they used to show him sitting in the dugout smoking like a chimney. I doubt you can even do that anymore and if you can they would never show it on TV.

  7. I think Aramis is a good player who could be great with a little work. Having said that - standing in the batters box watching a pop fly fall in is not being injured it's being lazy - at least start jogging out of the box.
  8. Is Remlinger really worse against right handers and what does that have to do with Adam Dunn?? I think that was clearly a mistake (either by Stone or the interviewer). Stone meant to say that Remy is worse against lefties, otherwise it would be A - false, and B - irrelevant w/ Dunn at the plate. Kinda what I thought. Love the Santoism in your sig - I missed that one!

  10. Geez man!! NSBB is running ahead of my gameday audio tonight.......I just crapped my pants!
  11. I am so glad I am listening to Pat & Ron. Ditto
  12. Jody Davis singing the stretch tonight. Wonder if anyone will sing Jody......Jody Davis!!
  13. Walking the leadoff man.......always a good plan.
  14. Or good coaching, something the Cubs sorely lack. Yeah, LaRussa goes and swings the bat for these scrubs. gmab TLR + Macias = All Star I'm not saying a coach plays for them, but they do have an impact. They're teachers. They teach. If they didn't have an effect nobody would have coaches, or am I wrong in that line of thinking? No need to be a smartass about it. Sorry Man.......just jokin with you

  16. I'm as disapointed with the play, the coaching and the management of this team as anybody but you know what i'm going to do? I'm going to go to the game Tuesday and I'm going to root for the Cub's that day and for the rest of the year. I'm not going to hope they lose, I'm not going to boo because it hasn't been proven to improve anyones play and I'm not going to pick another team to root for. I might be naive and I'm not trying to offend anybody but I get sick of the negativism and deafeatism. I started rooting for the Cubs when I was 10 years old in 1974 and the sucked them but I have rooted for them every year since.......ok - I'll calm down now. Sorry
  17. If in fact he did quit why is that a reason to be happy? Would you be even happier if they all quit?
  18. Maybe if Joe would mention to Dusty that CF is a good defensive position??
  19. Not that it matters but the good news is the Cards are losing 2-1 in the 5th
  20. Nobody makes minor leauge pitching look better than we do.
  21. I think my fat a** could steal with Maddux pitching.
  22. OK we're behind again............we go 'em right where we want 'em!
