  1. any news on pignatello or fontenot? with bynum gone maybe mike will ge t a shot as a utility guy next year.
  2. i guess this means the cubs didnt lose campusano? no, he was taken in the major league phase by Milwaukee and then traded to Detroit so if he doesnt stick with detroit the whole year, who gets him back the brewers or the cubs? Cubs good. with the pen detroit has, i expect to see him back with the cubs again.
  3. he had an awesome year off the bench last year with a .947 ops. he should make a good backup for murton & lee and pinch hit. good signing for the cubs.

  5. i guess this means the cubs didnt lose campusano? Yes, we lost him in the major league phase. too bad. i would have liked to see him in reserve next year. i wonder if he can stick on the roster the whole year? hopefully not.
  6. i guess this means the cubs didnt lose campusano? never mind.
  7. i guess this means the cubs didnt lose campusano?
  8. especially since sean hill is not on the cubs roster.
  9. i would much rather see the cubs sign lilly and meche than to trade the farm for guys like garcia & valdez.
  10. You'd also be a fool not to like his production against RHP. Isn't that what you'd look for in a platoon player? Yeah, you called him a platoon player at best. He's a good platoon player and you can get 130 games out of him - the reason he played 110 and 89 was because his team didn't always play him against RHP either. 130 games isn't full time, IMO. He'd still need a platoon mate. so, put Soriano in CF against LHP and sign a cheap guy who can hit lefties. one of the reason why soriano signed with the cubs is because hendry promised that they would give him a postion and leave him there. i very much doubt hendry would go back on his word and move around soriano between 2 positions.
  11. from what was said on sports central yesterday, the sox will want WAY more than that for either vasquez or garcia. apparently at this point williams is asking quite alot for any of his starters.
  12. If you look at the #s, "those geniuses" on this board were actually correct. In Hill's 1st stint with the Cubs last year, he had 15 walks in 19 innings. He was sent back down, and they tried a different approach with him. When he came back up in late July, after one shaky outing, he had 21 walks in 76 innings. Its not necessarily about scouting, sometimes its about coaching. Now only if we had a pitching coach at the Major League level. Problem being is those geniuses dont take into account that most players have to struggle at the major league level before they are going to be successful. Sadly we here in Cub nation by and large dont want to go thru the struggles with young players. I think Marmol is going to be a solid pitcher once he gets his control down.[/quote] me too but i think his future is in the pen as a closer as opposed to starting.
  13. i dont think marmol is going anywhere if this statement is at all accurate: "the Cubs value Marmol almost as much as Rich Hill, making him essentially untouchable." perhaps marshall for church would be a better fit.

  15. I'm pretty sure that was intentional. i tend to find irony one of the more humorous literary decives...
  16. promoted to daytona thank you no problem
  17. thought you didn't like hill? :D why would a team have to give up two young, frontline major-league-ready players who are three or more years from free agency to get one such player? Hill would be a good starting point, I didn't say straight-up. If LAA didn't get Sarge Jr. and they were interested in Rocco, I think a Santana straight-up for Baldelli would benefit TB. from everything i've read, hill is untouchable in hendry's eyes (for good reasons imo).
  18. Yeah we signed a utility infielder so we can move one of our better prospects to another position. Brilliant. Gotta love how Jim Hendry's not held responsible for his actions as closely as he should. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-061204cubs,1,1236144.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Oh and then the article goes on to talk about how the Cubs are excited to have two 40 stolen base threats at the top of the lineup in a few years in Pie and Patterson to go along with Soriano. I'm so thrilled. I hate ignorant people. me two
  19. promoted to daytona
  20. i dont think there is much question that soriano will be in rf next year and that jones will be traded. murton lofton soriano is the most likely of in 2007 imo.
  21. done: http://www.hollywood-celebrity-pictures.com/Celebrities/Lisa-Dergan/Lisa-Dergan-1.JPG
  22. how many starters do the yankee's need? i would assume they didnt bid 25 mil to put iwaga in the pen. they have mussina, pavano, johnson, wang & hughes to go along with iwaga & willis? they must not think they are going to get too much out of pavano & johnson next year.
  23. good for him. if murton can have a breakout year in lf, with soriano's contract harvey will most likely be expendable. hopefully he can cut down on his k's and work on his obp.
  24. Bruce says this isn't true. Then again, Gammons is on the 20 dollar bill so it's hard to believe he's not right. I'm perplexed here. I don't believe an offer was made. Remember, agents like to float a lot of things, especially to get the market going. Do you believe that they are interested enough to make an offer in the 3-4 year range at close to 15 per year? Have you heard anything about the Igawa bid? thanks Bruce. I don't believe the Cubs will go $15 mil per year for Schmidt. Don't get too excited worrying about Igawa. He'll land elsehwere. sounds like it most likely will be meche & westbrook then.
