  1. That's a good question, but I would say they will definitely keep the fee, but only charge it to subscribers of the Ultimate package. Those fees allow them to sneakily increase prices anytime they want, so they will never go away.
  2. Only if it's a stepping stone to fully automated balls and strikes in the near future. I don't want more stupid challenge systems where we can just get the right answer instantly every time.
  3. It's fun having one of those fireballing closers for a change.
  4. That's an odd time to nonchalantly hold the ball for an extra half second before firing it to first.
  5. Also, when can we stop pretending Turner is a competent hitter again just because he got a couple hits?
  6. Too soon to give Theo a call for the annual "offense is broken" press conference?
  7. Hanging slider over the middle of the plate that Dansby couldn't make contact with.
  8. That's fine and all, but my fear is the Cubs also think they are grooming Zaidman to take over for Pat when he leaves, and maybe that is sooner than we would think. Going from one of the best radio broadcasters in the league to the absolute worst is extremely jarring
  9. I like Cohen. Yeah, he makes some cringe-worthy comments at times and sounds like he might be trying a bit too hard, but I think he will get better if given the opportunity to settle into the role. Zaidman, on the other hand...
  10. I disagree. That upside, as a starting pitcher, is largely dependent on Brown developing a serviceable third pitch. That isn't going to happen in-season while starting for the Major League team. He either needs to go to Iowa and work on things to give himself a chance to be a successful starter, or move to the bullpen where his current repertoire is more than enough to get by. Continuing to run him out as a starter isn't doing anyone any favors, most of all the Cubs bullpen.
  11. Does anyone know why Zaidman has been doing additional PBP innings lately? I don't like it...
  12. I can't say that I keep up with other teams' injury situations. How common have oblique strains been across MLB? It does seem very unusual to have so many oblique injuries on a single team - Happ, Amaya, Imanaga, Assad, Suzuki (if we go back to late last season). Am I missing any?
  13. They also discussed the possibility that there may not be an All-Star game in 2027 due to the labor situation. Obviously there are no answers yet on that front. The game could get bumped to 2028, or if another city has already been pegged for 2028, then it would likely be 2029 or later.
  14. 2027 here we come. According to Bruce Levine. It will be announced officially by MLB sometime this summer.
  15. Laurence Holmes just made a comment on The Score which leads me to believe that an All Star Game announcement may be imminent. He said there is some "interesting and exciting" Cubs news, and mentioned it being related to some ongoing security changes around the ballpark. This could be something else, but my guess is we will soon be hearing about the long-awaited Wrigley Field All Star Game.
  16. I don't even know who that is... shows how much I follow the NBA these days.
  17. Hitters dont usually do rehab stints after missing only a couple weeks or less.
  18. It's great that we have a defensive replacement at 3B for the guy who has no offensive ability whatsoever.
  19. Oh man, that scared me to death. Can you imaging PCA and Tucker both getting hurt in a full speed collision?
  20. I know it's early, but Horton has been disappointing so far. I expected mistakes, but I guess I expected him to have better raw stuff. He just doesn't look like a future top of the rotation type guy.
  21. Rich Hill is attempting another comeback with Kansas City. Come on, Rich! You are my last hope to not be older than every active MLB player, at least for a short time.
  22. He surely influenced the decision by some non-zero amount.
  23. Why is Happ not on the IL yet? Get Alcantara up here for a couple weeks and make sure Happ is fully healthy when he comes back
  24. It's unfortunate that multiple injuries (Steele, Imanaga, Assad) have forced Ben Brown into the rotation indefinitely, because I still think he ultimately belongs in the bullpen and could be one of the missing pieces at the back end.
