  1. Wow, he was right on with that one.
  2. But who were the four fingers really directed at.. the ump or LaRoche?
  3. how many simulated hits did Bynum get? Bynum was removed in the 2nd simulated inning as part of a simulated double switch.
  4. For the first time all season, Steve Stone has backed off his statement that it's only a matter of time before Dusty gets the extension. Today on the Score, Stone said that he truly believed that earlier this season, but nobody could have predicted this complete collapse and now he believes Dusty's fate is undecided. For the first time this year, he was somewhat critical of Baker. It seems that the numbers of people who still believe Dusty will be extended are dwindling...
  5. Same here, I don't want to think about it, but I can feel the rage boiling inside me anytime I hear about the "inevitable extension." If Dusty is extended, it's very likely I will refuse to go to another Cubs game until he is gone, not in protest of Dusty himself but in protest of the entire organization.
  6. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If games are won or lost by good or bad luck, then we're paying way too much for a manager who can't influence the outcome. Dusty and his staff must be getting paid for something???
  7. Wood's fastball was clocked consistently in the 88-90 range on Friday night, hitting 93 once. I know it's just a rehab start and maybe he's not letting it all go yet, but does his velocity concern anyone else? I don't think his location isn't good enough to be successful in the high 80's against major league hitters.
  8. Meanwhile, his average is down to .231.
  9. 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 85 pitches (54 strikes) That will probably be it for Wood.
  10. The Cubs leave the bases loaded, Sky Sox up 1-0 after 4. Does anyone else feel bad for Adam Greenberg? He may never again get a shot in the big leagues and his one career at bat could end up being the pitch that hit him in the head.
  11. So far yeah. Jamming guys and making some good pitches, but nothing fancy.
  12. You're right about that. Wood has looked ok, but the breaking pitches haven't been real sharp and he doesn't seem to be overpowering anyone.
  13. It must be "kids work the camera" night tonight in Iowa.
  14. Nice looking throw by Pie though... and yeah the camera is giving me a headache. His velocity doesn't seem quite the same, used to be mid 90's and he could reach back for 98-99, now it's low 90's and he reaches back for 93-94.
  15. If that's the case, then let's find someone to manage the team for $500,000/year and have an extra 4 million to spend on payroll. If the manager has little to no impact on wins and losses, then the Cubs sure are throwing their money away.
  16. As much as I hate to say it, I still think the chances are slim to none... Wood will return, followed by Miller, Prior, and Lee and they will be enough to bring the team back to mediocrity. If anything, the "big shake-up" will be the firing of Clines or something meaningless like that. I'm sick of listening to a manager who sounds completely defeated after each loss. Dan Bernstein was completely right on the Score today, Baker seems like a guy who believes all these things are happening to him and his players, rather than someone who believes that he and his players can do something to have an impact on the outcome of games. Yes, bad things are happening, so DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
  17. Chicago sports radio is going downhill in general... Mike North Sucks. Mike Murphy sucks. Mulligan & Hanley suck. Rosenbloom & Salisbury suck. Carmen & Silvey are good but got moved to evenings when most people are home from work and not listening. Boers & Bernstein are the only show even worth listening to during my work day!
  18. If the Cubs are losing tomorrow when Baker comes out of the dugout to make a pitching change, how badly is he going to get booed?
  19. I live in an apartment and can't install an outdoor antenna, so I threw a hail mary and tried the Silver Sensor from 45 miles outside of Chicago... no luck.
  20. That's not true. Interim managers don't cause General Managers to get fired. If the team didn't perform well under the new manager, Hendry would have a chance to bring in a new manager at the end of the season and would have another couple years to decide his fate. It's either that or he extends Baker and they all go down with the ship together in another year or 2.
  21. How many teams have possibly their best pure hitter in the lineup batting 8th? And on top of that... the worst batting 5th?
  22. Z apparently doesn't take his mistakes quite as seriously as his teamates. Murton should have glared at the mound and flipped his glove in Zambrano's direction.
  23. Damn, I missed the "really wealthy club" meeting.
