  1. Local sports radio shows have really disappeared. I turned The Score on today following the Cubs game. There was a short post-game show and then they went straight to a syndicated sports betting show. Is there really not a market for an extended post-game show or other local coverage on a Saturday afternoon? Who is listening to generic national coverage from BetMGM (or whatever it was that sponsored it)? Or are they so focused on pinching pennies that the can't afford to pay a couple guys to sit in a studio for a few hours?
  2. From ChatGPT: So did Steele have a repair or a revision?
  3. The Cubs used 4 players in the #9 spot today. All of them either third baseman or pinch hitters for third baseman. That seems... inefficient at best?
  4. And even more on Giddey's inevitable albatross of a contract.
  5. That's the biggest problem. Jed has been awful at his approach to building a bullpen, but that wouldn't be such a big deal if they were getting production out of their minor league system. But they have developed VERY few guys who aren't just fringe MLB/Iowa shuttle type relievers.
  6. Is Justin Turner really the best PH option? It's also a problem that you have to pinch hit for your light hitting 3B with another light hitting 3B, then replace him with a pinch runner if he gets on base, or a defensive replacement otherwise.
  7. That sounds.... really bad. He has to be getting close to calling it quits. His back isn't going to get any better and he can't even make it through a few weeks of the season, all while not being able to perform even when he is on the field.
  8. I saw the Cubs scored 2 and immediately assumed Michael Busch was involved.
  9. Pretty much. Don't get swept and come home 12-9 or better. Just keep treading water and crossing these tough series off the calendar.
  10. Makes sense. Brain fart on my part, I'm not sure why I thought he only had 1 year left.
  11. Yeah, PCA may be a "late bloomer," since he is so old (just turned 23). Why didn't he just come up hitting 30+ HR's at 21? These ESPN guys sound absolutely clueless about him.
  12. And a starting third baseman. But hey, Jed built a really deep team.
  13. If there was a better option to play 3B, Shaw shouldn't be here right now. But our other options are a 40 year old who can't really play the position anymore, and a rule 5 pick who may be even more overmatched at the plate than Shaw.
  14. Is it really that risky? If Kelly were to get injured, Amaya would just switch from DH to Catcher. That means the Cubs would lose their DH for the remainder of the game, but in this incredibly unlikely hypothetical scenario I don't really think that is much of a risk.
  15. What does this mean for Steele next season with the Cubs? Will they still offer him his final year of arbitration, or is that too much to pay a guy coming who will be limited back coming back from surgery?
  16. This sounds like what I used to do for Saturday Morning cartoons. Gotta plan that stuff out so you don't miss anything!
  17. Cristian Hernandez no doubt HR. That's fun.
  18. Burl Caraway sighting in South Bend. I had no idea he was still in the organization. Remember when he was drafted and he was being talked about as a reliever with a fast track to the major leagues. Here we are 4 years later and he's still in Single-A. For those in the know, is there any prospect potential left in him?
  19. Why is it always the Zach Zaidman inning that lasts 45 minutes?
