  1. If Soriano goes on one of his hot streaks during October he could carry a team to a World Series title. I'm not convinced that Soriano has "hot streaks" so much as he has streaks where pitchers are giving him a lot of good pitches to hit. That won't happen very frequently in the playoffs, so the chances of him getting on a "hot streak" are very slim.
  2. Well, to be fair, after 13 innings of being made a fool of on the outer half, someone deep on the Reds' roster left one up and over the plate. Yep, it was bound to happn eventually.
  3. Guzman up in the bullpen... I'm glad he doesn't have a long history of arm problems.
  4. So when do we call up Gordon Beckham to save our season?
  5. I didn't realize it either until I went to Cincinnati last year and saw the signs. I always assumed they just wanted that name for their park and I didn't know it was an insurance company.
  6. Who would have thought the Cubs would reach "fun bad" status by early June?
  7. Who the hell is Patton? I think he was a General or something in the US military at one point in time. Did he only participate in extremely lopsided battles?
  8. Only thing Lou will change is the batting order. Still gonna consist of a bunch of crap. You are probably right, but the "its still early" thing isnt really true anymore. Something needs to be done to light a fire under these guys asses, and something needs to be done to help this offense. In think its been long enough that if a move or chsnge were to be made, it would have been made by now. With Miles due back Wednesday, he'll probably be the change. If the management of this team thinks Aaron freaking Miles is going to come in and help our offense, then that says all that needs to be said about our front office and Lou. They obviously thought that before the season. Why change now?
  9. This is the only way Fox would get a legitimate chance at 3B. Wishful thinking... Miles would be back up manning the hot corner every day.
  10. If depends if they find him or Ascanio first when digging through the cob webs. How long will it take the Cubs to figure out that they have needed an extra pinch hitter many more times than they have needed a 12th pitcher?
  11. You think that's bad... I already have tickets and my hotel room bought and paid for the series in Pittsburgh in September. It's looking like that might turn out to be a downer of a trip.
  12. Whatever is wrong with the home plate umpire, this sucks for him. He was so close to being off the field.
  13. That sounds like a deal Hendry might make. Let Wood go and get his big contract, then trade for him at a larger salary than what he would have taken to stay with the Cubs in the first place.
  14. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-01-cubs-bits-chicagojun01,0,3131110.story I think we all knew this was coming, but that doesn't make it infuriate me any less. I'm tired of this organization making so many decisions based on the whether someone bats or throws left-handed. With the exception of last night's game, Marshall has been solid all year. How often do you see a team take a guy out of their rotation to fill a hole in middle relief? Turning Marshall into a matchup lefty really minimizes his value and hurts both him and the Cubs in the long run.
  15. Why is it that when Soriano has 2 consecutive bad games in the #3 spot, he is immediately moved back to leadoff, yet when he has 2 weeks of bad games in the leadoff spot it is never considered to move him elsewhere?
  16. Yes, it is still 429 as always, but the game is on WCIU tonight.
  17. In Hendry's defense, he was limited to a $130 Million payroll. How is anyone supposed to win with that?
  18. It's easy to say that, but I can't blame Lily at all. The Cubs have an offense that hasn't shown themselves to be capable of putting up anything more than 1 run, which makes it all the more critical to try to get the runner at home.
  19. Scoring 2 runs in 3 games wasn't a wake-up call? I don't see any added benefit to getting no-hit.
