  1. sorry if you're upset with me using one of your cool words you think is original. how about we make deal where i don't use "meatball", and you don't use "awesome". that's my word and i'm afraid of it catching on. I think meatball was a Sulley creation, but I could be wrong. Boers & Bernstein have been using that term for years, but I couldn't tell you whether it started here first.
  2. I'm loving this Soriano hot streak. Hopefully he can keep it going for awhile and carry the Cubs through the next couple weeks before his inevitable cool down. On the negative side, it was another poor outing from Grabow today. I'm all for improving the bullpen, but the more they struggle the more I fear that Hendry is going to grossly overpay in prospects to get another mediocre veteran.
  3. or his slightly less-limited starting duty.
  4. I was thinking the same thing. I don't remember his swing looking that long earlier in the year, but it does look really long.
  5. Who is this Soriano character? He has looked really good at the plate lately.
  6. Aramis sure seems to get a lot of bases loaded opportunities.
  7. Wow, Mike Bielecki is 50 years old? He doesn't look anywhere close to that.
  8. someone needs to get a screen shot of this, it's hilarious http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll31/southpaw19_josh/gd_lee.gif What Gameday doesn't show is he was using a really long bat.
  9. Your 3 and 4 hitters ladies and gentlemen.
  10. Don't tell Lou. He'll revoke your press credentials.
  11. I don't see how the Pirates and Reds are easier opponents than the Nationals and D-Backs. Good teams should not lose four in a row at home. Ever. That's because we're not a good team. The Reds shouldn't be, but the Pirates are... well... the Pirates. No argument on the statement that the Cubs are not a good team. They are a mediocre team with a payroll 2-3 times that of their performance.
  12. Not to worry Cubs fans... with the Pirates and Reds coming up, the Cubs will claw their way back up to .500. Of course, that will probably be followed by another losing streak. It's going to be a long season of miniature winning and losing streaks while hanging right around .500 and never seriously threatening the Cardinals. I hope I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any evidence to convince me otherwise.
  13. Len and Bob's All-Star discussion is cracking me up, and I'm only reading it on Closed Caption with my TV on mute.
  14. What kind of baseball does this team play?
  15. The last game I listened to on the radio was a few weeks ago, but I could barely even hear Ron. It sounded like he was standing 10 feet away from the mic and mumbling, while Pat was loud and clear.
  16. Still 4+ minutes of penalty to kill...
  17. Doesn't make sense considering they haven't worn it at all since the 15th and now today they randomly are again? I don't get it. A 1-day tribute is great, but anything more than that is just annoying. I can't wait for a basketball game where every player is wearing #23.
  18. It's called playing the percentages. It's what smart managers do to win ballgames. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Wr6RQ1OrNEQ/SoOnaFWucLI/AAAAAAAAA0g/6VHHTFVLe08/s400/Mr.Burns.baseball.jpg But seriously, I give the Cubs credit that they are trying to do what is best for the team and not handling Soriano with kid gloves.
  19. He couldn't pick up the ball after a double by Weeks which allowed a run to score, and he misplayed a ball off the wall badly, allowing extra bases to be taken. I am typically quick to criticize Soriano, but I didn't think today was a terrible defensive day by his standards. Sure he misplayed the ball off the wall, but that is a mistake that outfielders do make occasionally and it isn't on the same level as dropping routine fly balls. His being removed from the game wasn't a direct result of any defensive misplays. He would have been removed in the double switch whether he had made an error or not.
  20. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AkpQ24hIp2kmNvviix.izLw5nYcB?slug=aw-paxsondelnegro041310 Paxson and Del Negro both need to go, but I don't think the Bulls can afford that much instability going into this year's free agency period.
