  1. That won't fly. You know STL is the only team allowed to accuse an opponent of cheating. I'm not sure it's actually illegal because he starts his movement toward home with his foot on the rubber and it's one continuous motion. I could be wrong but I didn't see anything about it in the rule book. I would make a continuous motion where I spin repeatedly like the tasmanian devil and then hand the ball to the catcher.
  2. Since we're allowing pitchers to throw without their foot on the rubber now, Edwin Jackson should go into his windup, then run 10 feet toward home plate and let the ball fly. He may be a useful pitcher after all.
  3. Nothing to show for it, but Olt's approach does look much better so far.
  4. No, because then if both backups get hurt the Cubs are out of catchers.
  5. "This is where a veteran pitcher throws a fastball and freezes a young hitter." Spoken as if Rizzo is a rookie who hasn't proven anything at the major league level.
  6. Oh give me a break. He's not comfortable throwing the ball to bases? American league pitchers have to field to you know.
  7. I may have missed it, but has the final roster even been announced? Who made the team between Sweeney, Szczur, and Herrera?
  8. I assume that Wood before Hendricks is only to break up the two lefties. I'm alright with that.
  9. And once it is unrolled, it can never fit back into the box again no matter how hard they try.
  10. Gross! Take it down!
  11. Assuming that Baez shows improvement in AAA to justify being recalled (not a safe assumption), what is his service time date? Late May?
  12. 3 more K's from Baez today. He has to start the season in Iowa, right?
  13. No. I am tired of seeing people clamor for a shorter season, shorter games, etc. I want as many games to watch as possible and when I attend a game I certainly don't want it to be over in 2 hours. For a majority of people complaining about those things, they aren't going to be satisfied no matter what changes are made. It feels like MLB is chasing an audience that simply isn't interested in their product. I understand they want to expand their fan base, but I fail to see how shortening the season by 5% (or any amount for that matter) accomplishes that.
  14. I'm waiting for Andre Dawson to fall out of Schlitter's beard.
  15. A Cubs season without Ernie around... that just doesn't seem right.
  16. It's two boards like the one we already had in RF. Ahh, ok, so on top of the wall. When I read "on" I was thinking on the face of the wall, but this makes more sense.
  17. Boards on the outfield wall? I don't remember hearing anything about that before.
  18. 5.685 million for Wood. I still don't understand why he was tendered.
  19. I don't know why anyone would think that. They are 100% certain that Bryant is going to play a position he has never played even though he just spent an entire minor league season at 3B? That doesn't make any sense. It makes sense if they r trying to win games and maximize value. Valbuena 3B+Bryant LF > Bryant 3B+Coghlan/Gomes platoon The Cubs aren't going to be that short-sighted with their top prospect. If Bryant can play 3B, which they seem to think he can, he is much more valuable there than in LF.
  20. I don't know why anyone would think that. They are 100% certain that Bryant is going to play a position he has never played even though he just spent an entire minor league season at 3B? That doesn't make any sense.
  21. This is hardly a low risk high reward situation. The risk is very real that you threw away $4.5m on a guy that will provide nothing. The reward is maybe one season of a good reliever. And how high is the "high reward" if he ends up getting some of the performance bonuses and making $6-7 Million? Hopefully he pitches well enough to get the incentives, but it will be difficult to significantly outperform the contract.
  22. Why would that be strange?
