  1. Has anyone seen stats about offensive production before and after long rain delays, Cubs-specific or otherwise? It sure seems like the Cubs offense typically comes out dead after an extended delay.
  2. That may have been a good time for Rizzo to lay down a bunt against the shift, especially with the wet grass.
  3. I'm not sure Coghlan had a chance there, but he certainly didn't look graceful in his flailing attempt.
  4. Ok, I'm a moron. Someone apparently paused the broadcast on my DVR at some point and I was watching coverage from an hour ago showing heavy rains still at Wrigley.
  5. There is a perfectly good reason for not being able to start if the field simply took on too much water.
  6. That is an odd statement to make with it still raining heavily at Wrigley Field.
  7. That and the game will probably resume in 2 hours with no wind.
  8. Again? Joniak does a good job, but what is going on with Par Hughes?
  9. I still think the Giants will overtake the Dodgers in the West. All it takes is for one of those two teams to falter down the stretch to make things a whole lot easier for the Cubs.
  10. I legitimately can't decide whether umpires have always been this inconsistent and we are just more aware of it now due the amount of information (Pitch Trax, etc.) that is available to us. Or are umpires truly calling games more inconsistently now than they have in the past? They were even worse in the past. Totally made up zones in the old days was considered apart of an umpire's personality.. Yes, I remember that, but the problem with the zone now is more the inconsistency than the zone itself. If a guy is consistently calling the same pitch outside the zone, that isn't ideal, but at least players know what to expect. This year the strike zone seemingly changes from one batter to the next.

  12. There's the hit, now make him work and get him out of the game.
  13. I'm surprised they didn't give Ross the start against a tough (understatement) lefty.
  14. At this rate, maybe they can get Sale out of the game after 7. Scoring a run or two before then would be nice too.
  15. Not really. I thought he looked ok in the 3rd, with the exception of the home run which barely cleared the fence to the opposite field.
  16. How could you possibly list possible outcomes for a Castro at bat without listing a weak groundball to the left side of the infield?
