  1. I hope so. If (and it is a BIG "if") the Cubs can find a way to beat Kershaw in that scenario, that would be a huge blow to the Dodgers coming back to Chicago. And even if the Dodgers win with Kershaw in Game 5, the Cubs still aren't in terrible shape with Hendricks and Arrieta lined up for 2 must-win games at home. Of course, it all starts with winning tonight.
  2. It seems like the narrative is all about the Dodgers. The announcers must have mentioned Urias starting tomorrow at least 5 different times, but I don't know if they have even said Lackey's name.
  3. This is a good time to burn our best left-handed reliever (not counting Chapman) and let him throw a lot of pitches.
  4. I'm starting to feel like it's not about the pitching but just our entire lineup for the most part being in a horrible slump or for some other reason just sucking. I mean, we got dominated by Matt Moore, too, just as much as the really good pitchers. Pretty much every starter has been good against us, and we couldn't even bash Shark that much despite a good start to that game. Didn't shark only pitch like 2 innings? Lol. He got creamed. As did Maeda. The other games were started by Cueto, Bumgarner, Moore, Kershaw and Hill. The Cubs didn't take advantage of Maeda nearly as much as they should have.
  5. Rizzo is at least working counts. Russell is probably tired.Being tired isn't a great excuse for the team that had several weeks of meaningless games to rest players.
  6. I think that is the first time I have heard Heyward and "jumpstart this offense" used together.
  7. It isn't a horrible idea and is similar to how the Hendricks injury actually worked in the Cubs favor in a way. But Lackey would probably take out the coaching staff with a steel chair.
  8. This really feels like last year all over again, except without the excuse of the dominant Mets pitching staff
  9. Jake looks good. Hill looks bad. Is 1 run too much to ask before the Dodgers turn this over to the bullpen.
  10. Yeah maybe Dexter was calling it, but Soler was pretty much camped under it.
  11. Heyward's defense has yet to be a factor in a single playoff game this year. I'm just not convinced that it makes a lot of sense to use corner outfield defense as the primary factor in lineup creation for an individual game. There is a good chance that bad defense won't come into play, but bad offense certainly will. I know it isn't quite that simple, but this team needs offense right now and 6 innings of Soler probably isn't going to hurt them defensively.
  12. I kind of hope he does. I'll gladly take a reduced Kershaw on short rest over a dominant Kershaw on full rest. The only thing the Dodgers gain by starting him on short rest is him being available in the bullpen in Game 7, which doesn't really seem worth the risk of sacrificing a good start from your best pitcher.
  13. I just got home from the game and am curious what the strike zone looked like tonight. From my seats, I can't judge inside/outside, so I don't know whether either pitcher was getting the corners more than the other. It felt like maybe the Cubs pitchers were getting squeezed a bit, but I don't know what the reality was.
  14. So, Rondon for the 9th, them who is left? Grimm and Z?
  15. Bah. This better not bite is like trying to let Wood get the 1 out against SF.
