    Heyward's defense has yet to be a factor in a single playoff game this year. I'm just not convinced that it makes a lot of sense to use corner outfield defense as the primary factor in lineup creation for an individual game. There is a good chance that bad defense won't come into play, but bad offense certainly will. I know it isn't quite that simple, but this team needs offense right now and 6 innings of Soler probably isn't going to hurt them defensively.

    I kind of hope he does. I'll gladly take a reduced Kershaw on short rest over a dominant Kershaw on full rest. The only thing the Dodgers gain by starting him on short rest is him being available in the bullpen in Game 7, which doesn't really seem worth the risk of sacrificing a good start from your best pitcher.

    I just got home from the game and am curious what the strike zone looked like tonight. From my seats, I can't judge inside/outside, so I don't know whether either pitcher was getting the corners more than the other. It felt like maybe the Cubs pitchers were getting squeezed a bit, but I don't know what the reality was.

    I'm going to bed, not completely giving up but I'm too tired for this horsefeathers after last night.
