  1. All this "bad luck"... Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
  2. Sorry KB, all your potential voters tuned out in the 2nd inning.
  3. It's about not expending your somewhat limited resources on a borderline playoff contender. I get it that anything can happen in the playoffs and the goal is generally just to get to the playoffs and hope for the best, but there are only so many prospect "bullets" that can be used before the farm system has been depleted. I would prefer to spend those when they can take a team from good to great, rather than from average to slightly above average. This year's team just feels like it is more than 1 good starting pitcher away from being a World Series contender. when you need to cement a playoff berth it makes a lot more sense to go all in than when you are locked into one. this makes no sense. this is a much higher leverage spot in which to use said bullets. If you are the 1998 Cubs, sure, but the strategy can be a bit more conservative with a team that is built to be competitive for several years. Missing the playoffs for a year would suck, but it isn't the end of the world.
  4. i'll never understand this. the sports media says stuff like this too. if you think the cubs are worse than you thought coming into this season, that's all the more reason to get more help, fix obvious holes, and win a very winnable division. 5. Welp, this might be a good year to raid the trash heap and waiver wires for cheap options to try to catch lightning in a bottle and hope to eek our way into the playoffs. Unless something changes soon, I'm not sure it is worth dealing any significant prospects. Try to piece something together for the rest of the year and then make some larger moves to regroup in the offseason.
  6. What is Maples' stuff like these days? Is he actually a "thing" again as a potentially useful MLB reliever? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. I'm ok with the Schwarber move. Let him DH every day for a few weeks and regain some confidence against AAA pitching. I still think he will be fine, and sooner than later.
  8. It would just be nice to have ONE freaking consistent hitter in the lineup. It is all or nothing with these guys... And more often than not this season, it has been nothing.
  9. Rickey Henderson, look out. Rizzo is coming for your leadoff HR record. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  10. PNC Park is awesome, so you'll be fine. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. 4 1/3 strong. That's why he wants the big bucks. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  12. 3 hits today. We stinks. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. I know it isn't the best timing with Addison's issues, but I'd be alright with Happ heading back to Iowa very soon.
  14. From future MVP to this, all within two months... Naively, when I saw the headline, I thought it was going to be about him throwing his bat into the stands.
  15. I have no idea who any of those supposed "Bears players" were, but they all looked like jackasses.
  16. That sounds like a good way to get fired. Not to worry though, I'm sure umpiring experience is in high demand in corporate America.
  17. 3 horsefeathering hits Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. How did that ball get out? It didn't seem to be hit hard at all.
