  1. Is it just me or is Davis only good in 1-run save situations? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  2. How was it that close at first? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. There's actually a part of me that thinks Happ gets moved in a Sonny Gray deal tomorrow. Theo gonna Theo. I can't imagine that happening at all. I just don't see the point, at least not now. The Cubs already have 4 quality starters for the playoffs and Gray doesn't move the needle much. I could see them being willing to deal Happ in the off-season to replace Arrieta, but there is no rush to make that deal now. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  4. Jon Lester's body language is killing them. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  5. Rondon is done. Maples couldn't be any worse. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. Way to swallow the whistle, ump. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. Is the WGN TV feed down for anyone else? I have lost it on both Dish and OTA. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  8. You mean the one where they show 2016 World Series highlights and pretend like 2017 never happened? While generously freezing ticket prices (but still implementing the obligatory 50 cent beer increase).
  9. What could a Davis/Arrieta combined package net the Cubs in prospects? With the way this team is playing, I wouldn't be upset with that at all.
  10. My afternoon just freed up, so that is good news.
  11. This team is only 4 starting pitchers and a consistent offense away from the playoffs.
  12. These teams trying to score a run are like the contestants on SNL Celebrity Jeopardy.
  13. All this "bad luck"... Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
  14. Sorry KB, all your potential voters tuned out in the 2nd inning.
  15. It's about not expending your somewhat limited resources on a borderline playoff contender. I get it that anything can happen in the playoffs and the goal is generally just to get to the playoffs and hope for the best, but there are only so many prospect "bullets" that can be used before the farm system has been depleted. I would prefer to spend those when they can take a team from good to great, rather than from average to slightly above average. This year's team just feels like it is more than 1 good starting pitcher away from being a World Series contender. when you need to cement a playoff berth it makes a lot more sense to go all in than when you are locked into one. this makes no sense. this is a much higher leverage spot in which to use said bullets. If you are the 1998 Cubs, sure, but the strategy can be a bit more conservative with a team that is built to be competitive for several years. Missing the playoffs for a year would suck, but it isn't the end of the world.
  16. i'll never understand this. the sports media says stuff like this too. if you think the cubs are worse than you thought coming into this season, that's all the more reason to get more help, fix obvious holes, and win a very winnable division. 17. Welp, this might be a good year to raid the trash heap and waiver wires for cheap options to try to catch lightning in a bottle and hope to eek our way into the playoffs. Unless something changes soon, I'm not sure it is worth dealing any significant prospects. Try to piece something together for the rest of the year and then make some larger moves to regroup in the offseason.
  18. What is Maples' stuff like these days? Is he actually a "thing" again as a potentially useful MLB reliever? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
