  1. Yeah, that sucks. I was looking forward to seeing what Mervis could do in Chicago. I'm also not high on either Hosmer or Mancini.
  2. The Cubs have been touting their "Top 5 farm system" at Cubs Convention. I get that Cubs Convention is mostly over-hyped propaganda, but is there anyone who has them ranked anywhere close to 5?
  3. Maybe it's just because they have so often been bad, but I have never disliked the Lions like the Packers or Vikings. I wish they could have got in the playoffs this year.
  4. I love that the Lions are going all out here to win this game. The Packers getting knocked out of the playoffs by a team with nothing to play for is just great.
  5. On the other hand, if Poles is still high on Claypool and believes this year was an aberration, this could be an opportunity to lock him up behind 2023 at a reasonable price.
  6. I realize this is extremely unlikely and unwise but, hypothetically speaking, what if Poles really wanted to draft his own QB at #1? What would Fields' trade value be?
  7. Just what I said. #1 pick or bust!
  8. The #1 pick was always highly unlikely. All things considered, this team ending up at #2 is pretty incredible with as many games they could/should have won.
  9. Ugh. Interception Bears.
  10. The Bears are god awful. No worries. I can't help it. I don't trust the Vikings to not do something stupid.
  11. Followed by a Bears TD.
  12. Vikings pulling some starters. They should still win the game easily, but I can't say I'm not at least a little bit nervous.
  13. What the hell were the Vikings doing?
  14. Now THAT is a tank pass.
  15. Cue the Nathan Peterman 4 TD performance, spoiling the Bears draft pick and leading into an offseason QB controversy.
  16. Had to pay for Brad Wieck's minor league contact somehow.
  17. Never once when I was playing, but absolutely once I had a son. I highly encouraged him to play every sport except football. He tried flag football when he was like 8 or 9 and said it wasn't for him, and I was perfectly fine with that. I never found the risk for serious injury or death to be worrisome when my daughter was playing softball or volleyball or when he played baseball. When I played sports, including football, I never once considered the possibility of a catastrophic injury. I could comprehend the possibility for a broken bone or other orthopedic injury, but nothing beyond that was ever on my mind. Looking back at it now, and especially as a parent/coach, sports look more like a minefield of possible serious outcomes. Even baseball, which never concerned me one bit while playing, has the ever-present risk of one line drive or errant pitch changing someone's life forever.
  18. I wish I could be that optimistic.
  19. Can't blame the guys at all for sitting the game out, but it's really hard to win when a team goes in without their star offensive player and possibly two best defensive players. The offense was clearly not the same without Chase Brown. I was considering earlier today whether there is something the NCAA can do to better incentivize (financially) players to suit up for bowl games, but then we see what happened tonight in Cincinnati and there is no amount of money that is worth taking that risk.
  20. This is just stupid doubling down on stupid. "Near future?" When? They have games scheduled for next week and are both in the playoffs. You planning on having them play 3 times in 7 days next week? They will change the schedule to accommodate more off days if they have to. No they aren’t playing 3 times in 7 days. They aren't going to modify the playoff schedule and, outside of that, there simply isn't enough time to work with. Both teams are already in the playoffs, so this is a pretty easy decision. Cancel the game and wherever the teams fall in terms of winning percentage is where they are seeded.
  21. I know this isn't even worth the time it takes to post the link, but horsefeathers Lenny Dykstra. And I'm removing the link to not draw any more attention to it.
  22. Apparently they are still going to try to reschedule the game. What does that even mean? This isn't MLB or NBA where you can squeeze a game in. There is less than 1 week remaining in the regular season.
  23. I'm thinking more along the lines of possible catastrophic neck/spinal injury, but whatever it is clearly isn't good. I don't see how anyone can play after that.
  24. Next week now becomes a must-lose. The Bears can't allow a meaningless win to drop them from 2 to 4.
  25. Oh really? The Bears need to use this garbage time to evaluate whether Fields is their guy?
