  1. What is that on his thumb?
  2. Wind-aided basket power no less, but it got there and that's all that matters.
  3. I'm not gonna say I called it, but I kinda called it. 😉
  4. I couldn't tell you what his recent splits look like, but I just know he has looked completely lost at the plate for the last few weeks or more.
  5. Why Gomes there? Wouldn't Amaya have been a better option with how poorly Gomes has been hitting lately?
  6. Who had a Nick Madrigal HR to finally get on the board?
  7. Between this and the Stroman news, I'm in full "the sky is falling" mode.
  8. If not, they'll definitely get it the 4th time through... or maybe the 5th!
  9. Ugh. The Cubs got those playoff ticket invoices out just in time.
  10. I would prefer a statue of Jordan doubling down the left field line (yes, I know that predates the cup).
  11. How does that even happen? And we're pretty much screwed for this year.
  12. You're right, and hopefully it's just "one game", but games like this are magnified when you look at the Cubs current pitching situation. Outside of Steele and Hendricks, the other starters are a crap shoot, so it hurts to lose when the starter has a good/decent outing. Baseball is baseball and even the best teams are going to lose games against the worst teams, but this is a stretch that the Cubs really need to capitalize on. It would really suck to see them squander this opportunity against bad teams after working so hard to get back into the race against good teams. Like you said though, tomorrow is another day, and hopefully one with a different outcome or else I'll be in full panic mode.
  13. There are just too many guys struggling in the Cubs lineup right now. Tauchman hasn't done a ton lately, although he's still giving them more than anyone could have expected. It's great that Happ found the basket tonight, but overall he's still making way too many unproductive outs. Candelario has cooled off, Morel has been bad for awhile, and Gomes hasn't done anything lately. It would be nice if Mervis was mashing at Iowa and could maybe give them shot in the arm, but he doesn't seem to be pushing the envelope. PCA is the only guy right now who is really making a case for a call up, but that still doesn't seem like a wise move.
  14. My concern is that it feels a bit like a house of cards on top of a starting rotation that is on the verge of collapse. The offense is going to have to be really good for this team to sustain a playoff push.
  15. Five whole hits against this parade of bums, with 7-8-9 due up in the 9th.
  16. If only we had field reporters who might be able to answer questions like those.
  17. Two hits against this jobber isn't gonna get it done.
  18. This is dumb, but I don't really care.
  19. Yeah, it's not a bad contract, and he's probably trade-able if that's the direction they want to go. He's fine and affordable and does some things really well, but he's also lacking in power that then needs to be made up elsewhere in the lineup.
