  1. Shaw's possible rapid movement makes for some interesting decisions at the big league level. 2B and SS are locked down for the foreseeable future, so do the Cubs think highly enough of him that they want to avoid blocking his path to 3B? Does that mean they might stay away from a big contract for a guy like Chapman, and maybe even Candelario unless they can get him to sign a shorter term deal? 3B might call for more of a stopgap solution as long as they can lock down a significant offensive threat at the other corner (Bellinger or otherwise).
  2. I haven't been paying attention. Are they still riding the magical 1-run victory train?
  3. It all started so promising. On the bright side, my Sunday afternoon just freed up.
  4. Why are the Cubs giving up on this game? Taillon should not be out there.
  5. I know there were at least a few posters here who stated they wanted no part of a Bellinger extension, I believe largely in part to some unfavorable peripherals. Is anyone changing their tune on whether to re-sign him long term. I was in the "let him walk" camp for much of the season, but if he finishes the season playing at this same level, I don't know how the Cubs can justify NOT making a serious attempt to bring him back. Unless they have a legitimate shot at Ohtani, I think their off-season efforts need to start with signing Bellinger. It's definitely a bit of a risk with his history, but I just don't see how they can let an MVP-caliber player walk away and expect to be better next year.
  6. In case you were wondering, this offseason will be Alzolay's first arbitration year, so they still have him for 3 years after this one.
  7. Huge win after giving up the lead. 5 games over .500!
  8. And then he blew away Biggio with nothing but fastballs.
  9. Guy who throws 100 is out there throwing sliders like Michael Wuertz.
  10. Looking ahead, if this goes to extra innings, we're probably looking at Killian or Palencia.
  11. The Cubs may have stumbled into their Strop. Now who is going to be the Arrieta?
  12. Ross definitely got too cute there, especially with Fulmer looking pretty good.
  13. The Blue Jays should really think about putting up some "TD" signage.
  14. I don't think I would have given Dansby another pitch right in that same spot after he crushed the first one foul. He didn't miss the second one either.
