I know there were at least a few posters here who stated they wanted no part of a Bellinger extension, I believe largely in part to some unfavorable peripherals. Is anyone changing their tune on whether to re-sign him long term. I was in the "let him walk" camp for much of the season, but if he finishes the season playing at this same level, I don't know how the Cubs can justify NOT making a serious attempt to bring him back. Unless they have a legitimate shot at Ohtani, I think their off-season efforts need to start with signing Bellinger. It's definitely a bit of a risk with his history, but I just don't see how they can let an MVP-caliber player walk away and expect to be better next year.
