  1. That was terrible, great, and then terrible again. What the hell?
  2. We've got a puncher's chance in the 9th at least.
  3. Damn, it sucks that the Cubs gave up those extra 2 runs in the 8th.
  4. But beverages are 20% off in Gallagher way up until noon. Drink up everyone!
  5. If not tonight, then tomorrow for sure. But if not tomorrow, then definitely Saturday.
  6. That would probably be the last question he ever took from that reporter.
  7. Everybody loves him and I'm not quite sure why. Well, I kinda know why
  8. Not watching the game at the moment, but I see the Fielders Choice error in the app, so I assume Dansby did something dumb again.
  9. I just realized that, with his status for next year being unknown, this could very well be Hendricks' last Wrigley start as a Cub. I hope that isn't the case, but I have really come to appreciate him more over the years. Looking back at the 2016 team, he may end up being my favorite player out of everyone.
  10. Don't worry. I'm sure Swanson won't come up to bat in the middle of a big rally.
  11. I can't argue with that observation for the pitching staff, but I don't know that the same is true for the position players. Other than Dansby, most guys in the lineup still gave good at bats tonight. They scored enough to win, but can't overcome that type of pitching effort. The pitching issues were probably going to catch up to them sooner or later, and it appears like it is going to be extremely difficult to work around them now.
  12. I see those as two completely different cases. Mervis has probably learned all he is going to learn at Iowa and is as ready as he's going to get. If that's not good enough to be on this roster right now, he is likely never going to be good enough. PCA on the other hand has all the upside in the world, but he hasn't had a ton of time in AAA. It's not unreasonable to say that he could have used consistent playing time in AAA through the end of this season and maybe even to start next year. I think the issue right now is the Cubs are going to PCA too quickly as a pinch runner or defensive replacement and that is leading to him coming up to bat in key late game spots that he really isn't ready for. Yes, it's not really fair to judge him on 8 at bats, but he has looked overmatched at times.
  13. 0-9 with 5 K's for PCA. I love his defense, but is it worth it at this point? Or maybe it's 0-8 with 4 K's. Either way, he isn't giving them competitive at bats.
  14. I bet Mulholland's arm still hasn't recovered from that season
  15. I'm not sure what else Ross can do pitching-wise. He has lost 3 out his 4 top relievers (Alzolay, Fulmer, and I'm counting Leiter who went from reliable late innings guy to worthless) and the starter only went 3 innings. I really can't fault him for bullpen usage at this stage. He just has to put guys out there and hope they execute.
  16. Until they change 4 of tonight's runs to Unearned.
  17. Mets are up 3-1 on the Marlins. If the Dbacks aren't going to lose anymore, we need the Marlins to go in the tank.
