  1. I have no problem with the Braves or Phillies winning. As long as it isn't the Dodgers or Brewers.
  2. Oh, I have no idea. It was just odd the way he answered. The easy explanation could be that Ross was annoyed/upset in general after another tough loss and just didn't want to entertain the question.
  3. Ross seemed annoyed by the question, "How much did you guys feed off Morel's energy in the late innings?". After a pause, his answer was "We feed off each other all year long" and no comment at all on Morel's play. I could very well be reading more into his comments than what he actually said, but that was a layup question that most managers would use to complement their young hitter.
  4. Another way of looking at it - The Marlins have a 72% winning percentage in 1 run games and 44% in games decided my 2 or more runs. That is truly amazing.
  5. That wouldn't be shocking at all. Maybe even reassuring.
  6. I can't figure out where to find it, but what's the Cubs record in 1 run games now compared to the Marlins?
  7. He is a multi-position guy in about the same way Jake Fox was. Ok, not quite that bad, and much more athletic. But also not good (defensively).
  8. Completely anecdotal and possibly not backed up by statistics, but I think he has shown some better plate discipline at times towards the end of the season.
  9. Relief pitchers should earn their pension by appearance, because this type of usage may not bode well for him having a long career.
  10. Leiter has nothing at all left. Every outing from him is like a 1980's starting pitcher going into the 9th inning with 130 pitches thrown and just hoping guys hit the ball at someone.
  11. His numbers really aren't that far off from last year in total. Just a little less slug this year and a higher ground ball rate. So this might be about what we're gonna get for the next several years.
  12. If the Cubs come back and win this I'm just going to be more annoyed that both the Mets and Pirates couldn't hold onto their leads.
  13. Not directed at squally at all, but it reminds me of a guy in the bleachers several years ago. The Cubs were losing badly and all throughout the game he kept saying "loooooooootta baseball left!" all the way to to the 8th inning or so. I can still hear his voice and it still makes me laugh in situations like this.
  14. It can be both. I'm pretty sure I said I expected them to be around or slightly above .500, so they pretty much met my expectations overall. But given where they were a few weeks ago, my expectations were recalibrated and then severely underperformed.
  15. It's over whether they concede it or not. But I agree that Ross is going to keep managing like they have a chance until they absolutely don't, and I can't fault him for that.
  16. Over/under 0.5 hits for Dansby the rest of the season?
  17. Marlins win a 1 run game. Pair that with a Cubs loss tonight and this this is as over as it gets without being officially over.
  18. Do the same tiebreakers apply for draft position as they do for playoff position?
  19. I don't really want to criticize Bellinger's defense, especially when he's playing somewhat out of position, but I feel like he is a bit slow to get down on those hard hit grounders down the line. I'm not entirely sure that one was playable, but we see other guys knock those down.
  20. Might as well. If they aren't making the playoffs, just keep losing.
  21. Kyle wasn't even close on that Yelich at bat.
  22. He is an incredibly frustrating offensive player.
