  1. How do you score from 2nd on a sac fly? Soriano stole 3rd. Then he scored on the sac fly. May 26, 2006. We will never forget. I will certainly never forget, I was there for that nightmare!
  2. I'm in the "anyone but U2" camp.
  3. Has to go to the Ramones for motivating an entire subculture of 2 generations. AC/DC didn't.
  4. Here's the trade I've been hoping for: Maddux, Howry, and Walker for Lastings Milledge I'd even throw in Eyre or Dempster if they demanded.
  5. Stu Copeland is such an amazing drummer, I had to give it to the Police.
  6. The Cubs could easily top that offer. That's just silly.
  7. I'm going tonight. Three of us have seats in three different rows, all seat 101. What are the chances of us being able to actually sit next to each other?
  8. He is a jerk.....but he kicks ass on the 'skins'. Lars Ulrich is not a good drummer. and the Clash is not a good band, so there you have it. plus good drummer or not, lars co-wrote most of their best music I wasn't questioning his songwriting ability, nor did I say anything about the Clash. I was correcting cubweiser03, because Lars is a second rate drummer at best. what makes him second rate? His one dynamic level - LOUD. The man plays with zero dynamic contrast, and I don't think he's ever played an unaccented note in his life. Back in the day he had fast feet, but that was it. Any idiot can crank out a ton a double-bass notes, but that doesn't make them a good drummer.

  11. Why, you expect the Cubs to even make an offer? Why waste team talking about a player, when you KNOW in your heart the Cubs have no interests in. Meaning even if Ichiro is available, the Cubs ain't interested. Willy Pierre Juan Taverez Makes me no never mind. I expect the Cubs to acquire SOMEBODY else with Taverez to make a deal worthwhile, I would love to take Brandon Backe off their hands. why are you so sure the cubs aren't interested? He's fast, a great defender and bats leadoff - all things the cubs value. He sure is toolsy. Plus he's a horse.
  12. I still think we should put some money into the Japanese market and try to get Matsuzaka. He tore up the WBC, and we need to make a big splash with pitching.
  13. I can't believe tool is going to lose in the first round. That's awful.
  14. As I've said before, I'm well aware of what recording without the use of digital manipulation sounds like. I come from a big punk rock background where most of the music was recorded without the use of any digital editing, but these bands still sound tight as a cohesive unit. Not only that, but seeing many bands that play together very well live sound better as a band than the White Stripes on their recordings. I'm not trying to say that they're horrible musicians, only that they do in fact play poorly on purpose. That's their gimmick. Well, it certainly wouldn't LOOK all that bad.
  15. Dusty appreciates Neifi's play, so he must not play baseball poorly. Weak argument. Baseball has boundaries, rules, winners, losers. Therefore there has to be a correct way to do it. Art has no such limitations, it's value is not in winning, only in it's perception, which is completely up to the person who is exposed to it. Terrible analogy. You can say that there's art in it, but there are people who claim defecating in a jar is art too. It's all about perception. From a technical, musically solid standpoint their music is not executed well. The drums and guitar constantly phase and fall out of time with one another. It sounds sloppy because it is. Whether or not you appreciate the art behind it is a moot point - I'm simply pointing out they play poorly, regardless of who likes it.

  17. You clearly miss the point of the White Stripes To play poorly and make millions? I'd like to see any 6 month vet of the guitar play Ball and a Biscuit. Jack White's minimilistic style is just ironic because he's actually a fantastic Blues and Rock guitarist. Exactly. The point is they sound like anyone who plugs in in the garage and cranks it to 11. You call it "sloppy", I call it "not processed through ProTools 173 times before going on the CD" Trust me, I'm as big a critic on over-produced crap as anybody, but the White Stripes just play POORLY. There's no other word for it. Here's an analogy - the White Stripes are the Neifi Perez of music. They don't play at a professional level, yet are rewarded with millions of dollars for that mediocrity. i'm sorry, you must not understand art. it's a style of playing, that they do on purpose. it's called minimalism. de stilj? yeah, that's an art form, not just the name of one of their albums. very few musicians could make as complete albums as the white stripes do with the amount of instruments they use and the technology they employ. elephant was recorded completely without the use of computers. give me ONE other band on a major label that sells those types of units in the last 20 years that's done that. the drumming is on PURPOSE. i don't get people that can't wrap their heads around that. that's not a bass line on seven nation army. I know that it's done on purpose. My point isn't that they're not good musicians, only that they play VERY poorly, and make money off it. Their whole gimmick is not playing well. You can call it minimalism or art if you want to, but it's still lack of effort/talent shown that sets them apart from other acts. I've got my head wrapped around that they play poorly on purpose, but that's what upsets me. They don't play well and people love that about them, how does that make sense? They're duping their fans into shelling out big bucks to pay for their sloppily thrown together tracks in the name of art.
  18. "Get athletes, gotta get the athletes."
  19. Tell me you made that up. Tell me he did not say that. Word for word. Kill me.
  20. OMG A GREAT QUESTION!! obp, thank goodness
  21. Great question Chris on the North Side!
  22. boooooo but then followed up with "the game has changed a lot since then" So I think we're safe.
  23. he said he should have signed another starting pitcher.
  24. Over-produced to hell. It doesn't sound like a real band playing the music, it seriously sounds like a computer. Same can be said about a majority of the vocals, particularly in the backup harmonies. It all just sounds so fake. Not only that, but a majority of the songs are just so plain and repetitive they get annoying halfway through the album. That said, I really liked it the first week I had it, but it got old VERY quickly, and now it's my least favorite Green Day album. (Ker-Plunk is still my alltime fave)
