  1. Now I don't feel too bad. Man, this is getting ugly in a hurry in for the Angels. Santana had good stuff!
  2. Huh? Rays or any team in baseball would kill for a payroll like the Cubs, Red Sox, or Yanks.
  3. I think Chicago has a good chance of going 0-6 in the playoffs this year.
  4. Rays are very, very good...
  5. Duh! I'd hope these mops are pissed!
  6. Win this for: My Liver!
  7. I'm a bit older and 1984 broke my heart. I remember my dad telling me (after game 2) "don't get too excited we still need to win one more". I remember telling him "Dad it's over we are going to the World Series!" He tried his best to keep my excitement at a reasonable level, and 3 games later I understood why. I was devastated! Took me a long time to get over. I still remember the back of the sun-times sports page with the headline EVEN STEVEN after game 4. I also remember the Chicago Tribune headline that read "Wait Till next" with graphic of a little Cub crying after game 5. KILLED ME!!!! I wasn't crushed again until 2003. 1989 didn't really bother me all that much. We just got beat. Nothing heartbreaking about it.

  9. I keep looking for green font.
  10. Or the Dodgers will continue to clean the Cubs' clock. There would be a run to the bat rack. Harden deserves this start and not to give it to him is a fireable offense. The Dodgers haven't cleaned anyone' clock, I refuse to give them credit beyond not playing as poorly as the Cubs. All they've done is be the beneficiaries of some bad Cub Baseball, nothing more. They've taken walks and hit homeruns and other extra base hits. They've won big because of the Cubs being stupid, but they've still played well enough to win without all the help. And pitched well...
  11. I didn't watch Game 3 last year. Just monitor it on the internet and flip it on if something good might be happening. Haha, you do this too? I do this all the time. I did it last night.
  12. yes i did...it is called personal superstition... what does fth mean? when we were having our craptastic september slump...i burned two hats and another shirt...and they started winning...i burned the last piece of that fukudome shirt last night before the game...it was the front cubbie bear that was attached to my backpack... i guess my burning luck has run out or it just doesn't work in the playoffs :banghead: Or the baseball gods are demanding more. Anyone have a goat we can sacrifice?

  14. Last year I convinced myself we were coming back. This year I'm not going to fall for that false hope. Cubs lose this game 5-1.
  15. A) There aren't many Braves fans left. B) Braves fans saw a hell of a lot more playoff wins than Cubs fans, including World Series wins. Stupid comparison. I just was going to post the same thing. There's no comparison.
  16. I just saw the video from that. Very, very funny. I still don't understand what Cabbera was doing?
  17. I stopped reading after step 2.
  18. There's a point where a certain level of underperformance becomes statistically improbable to the point where you have to wonder what is going on. A good team losing is expected. Good teams losing by a combined score of 54-18 over eight games isn't. It's really not hard to see what's going on. They can't handle the pressure, period. Does Lee have a no-trade clause for next year? Zambrano? Huh? Z has performed well the past two years.
  19. It'll always sell out.
  20. I wish the Cubs had some.
  21. What you going to do? Can't trade Sori or Fukudome. Dlee and Ram aren't going anywhere. You could get rid of Demp, Theriot gone, Fuku opts to return to Japan because, well, it's clear he can't play on this level. There's a dozen things you could. You eat a couple contracts, start building your minors up, go a different direction. I hope you aren't pretending there's nothing the Cubs could possibly do to change. They can, it would just be painful at first. Fans aren't going to buy change for the worst and build for the future. If they make changes it better be to make the team better. All this hinges on the new owner anyway...My guess is not much will change for next year. Then get ready for more choking in '09!!!! w00t! 3 times a charm?

  23. well said.... but is anyone really that suprised? I am. I thought at least we'd make it to the second round. Hell, I thought at least we'd win a game. I'm more then surprised, I'm shocked!
