  1. What a terrible draft! I mean this is the first draft in the Hendry era that I really hated.
  2. I agree. I assume the Cubs have had talks with him and feel they can sign him to play baseball.
  3. I think the Cubs sign this him. I'm sure they have spoken to him before the draft.
  4. Here is what espn.com's Keith Law said on a chat session today: Kevin (Manassas): What are your thoughts on the Cubs first round pick Tyler Colvin? SportsNation Keith Law: (3:21 PM ET ) Has to be signability, don't you think? He was a third or fourth round talent. I'm surprised that the Cubs went "cheap," especially since they went over slot last year with Utah HS pitcher Mark Pawelek. Perhaps they didn't feel anyone on the board was worth slot at #13.
  5. Why in the world his parents would name him after the author I have no idea.
  6. Basically, we're all nuts for loving this organization. Seconded Thirded
  7. Lining Up For Samardzija? 1:35 p.m.: Tyler Colvin came as one of the first round's largest surprises; new Cubs scouting director Tim Wilken obviously didn't waver from the guy he liked. But don't be surprised if the Cubs opted to go on the cheap early to save money for later. Jim Hendry is longtime friends with Notre Dame coach Paul Mainieri, and given the Colvin pick, don't be surprised to hear Jeff Samardzija land with the Cubs this afternoon. -- Bryan Smith
  8. good question the Cubs pick and let us know what they say.
  9. I'm with you...I don't get it? Very strange...
  10. I'm trying hard to look at the positives with this pick and I can't find any.
  11. I've never been disappointed in a draft since Hendry has been involved with the Cubs, until now. Why? He's a .280 career college player with a average arm for the outfield? I don't get this one at all...Terrible.
  12. Why is this kid a 1st rounder? I don't get this pick at all. Disappointed.
  13. I have the same feeling Murton goes yard tonight as does Jones.
  14. Last year, they were flat out MISERABLE against the NL East. As far as this series goes, I'm going with unadulterated enthusiasm. Go COBS. We just gotta take it one game at a time, and not look at the big picture. C'mon Cubs just keep winning series until Lee and Prior come back.... I think we still have a shot why not! The central is going to be a dog fight the whole year no one is going to run away and hide. I just hope there isn't a let down for this series.
  15. Man I hope we get 2/3 this series. The matchups favor us so that means we lose 2/3... : (
  16. And it's on WGN! Yessss! Visiting the folks out in Arizona so I get to watch the game today! The one (and maybe only) good thing about baker is under him since 2003 we've handled the Cards very well, home or away....
  17. I don't mind Maddux pitching in place of Wood tomorrow. I think he'll throw a gem.
  18. I was just talking about this with my buddy. No matter who they plug in they instanly become allstars. It's amazing.
  19. He needs another 2 years. Bring him up is 2008.
  20. cause you have to get him right into the mix so he can feel comfortable...just like Theriot...oh, wait, nevermind. Of couse! You can't have a Vet just sitting on the bench. His bones might get a bit creaky...
  21. Womack will be hitting 2nd playing 2B. You can bank on that!
  22. I'll be at the game also. I'm not sure why, but I'll be there.
  23. I told my friends back in 2003 that if we don't win a WS in the next 5 years we never will....
  24. Can you just picture the W.Sox players watching this in the locker room laughing?
