  1. I'm fine with Wood's outing today (though I wish it had gone another inning or so). He looked very good aside from the homers of course. But if the offense doesn't improve, Wood won't matter. Not trying to be glib, but should we care how he looks or what the results are? Giving up 3 HRs in 5 innings isn't good, even if he struck out 15 batters. That's always been the problem with KW Obviously your expectations were very high today. Mine weren't and I was impressed. I actually was expecting a very sloppy high pitch\high walk total today.
  2. I have to say I can't honestly remember a worse offensive team then this current squad.
  3. I think he looked good. I know it's hard to look good when you give up 3 HR's, but not a bad outing. He does look a bit different. His delivery is smooth and he doesn't look like he's trying to pitch 100 MPH on every pitch. It'll be interesting to watch him the rest of the year.
  4. Kerry done for the day with 71 pitches and 5 innings pitch. Not a bad 1st day back for Kid K.
  5. With or without baker this lineup stinks! No power what-so-ever!
  6. no BB yet either. I look his delivery nice and smooth...I like what I see so far. Nice up date Chris. I'm sitting at work blind. He doesn't look like he's throwing through a brick wall. He'll be fine.

  8. What did you expect a no-hitter? It's his first game back. Relax. Well, if he was ready to come back I would expect a little more than that, but I was just talking in generalities of how bad this team is. As usual the Messiah has a high pitchcount early in the game and is getting battered around this is Kerry's MO. He will probably settle down but he always seems to have one or two bad innings early in games. Career ERA of 3.67, ERA+ of 116. Obviously he doesn't always have one or two bad innings a game. It's his first game back. Everybody warned that he would not be perfect, he's shown signs of dominance, but can't be expected to be 100% right now. If he shows no signs of improvement in the coming games then you can start complaining, but this isn't that big of a deal. he wont be 100% because he'll be on the DL again in 3 weeks. Seriously, I'll be shocked if he doesn't leave this game complaining of soreness somewhere. Why are you so bitter? Did you expect to see Wood to dominate a game in his first start back. It's going to take a couple of starts. Some of you guys expected way too much today.
  9. What did you expect a no-hitter? It's his first game back. Relax. I'd be able to relax if this was unusual for him. Looks to me like the same guy we've seen over the past couple years. LOL! It's his first game back! Shhez!

  11. At least he's pitching strikes? No BB's... :)
  12. Well Woody look good in the 1st inning...
  13. My Guess is that RAM will miss Friday's game and DH for Saturday and Sundays games.
  14. It was just a matter of time. I'm not surprised in the least bit.
  15. It'll be nice to see Kid K back taking the bump today. I've always been a Wood fan. I know, I know he's always hurt and whatever else....But when he's "on", there is no other pitcher that is more fun to watch.
  16. That's a ridiculous philosophy! Let's tank the year to get better for the future? Haven't we tanked enough years in the past 97 years? What makes you think that giving up on this year will make us better for next year? Makes no sense. I would rather see all the players have good years and that will bold well for next year. I want to see Cedeno, Murton, RAM, Lee, Marshall, etc. excel and get better for next year. If you watch the Cubs hoping for them to lose, why watch them? being horrible means either a lot of guys will have to suck or a lot of guys have to be injured. if a lot of guys suck, then that means the cubs will basically have to start over next year. if there's lots of injuries, then the cubs have a bunch of guys who may not be very reliable. been there... done that... i'll just root for wins cause i think baker tells the city to kiss his rear after 2006. Exactly right! No matter what Baker will not be back next year...He's gone next year. He'll leave via FA. You can forget about Sweet Lou coming here after seeing what Baker went through the past 4 year, no way would he come here.
  17. I'd be surprised if he stays. I think he'll get a deal elsewhere...Seattle perhaps?

  19. And we finish the season at .500. I don't even want that, I'd rather we tank the season and have Dusty fired. I don't want him coming out smelling like roses because the team banded together and overachieved. Some of you fans amaze me. You are hoping that the Cubs tank the season? Sorry, I never like to see teams give up on season. We have been doing that far too long. losing breeds losing with or without Dusty.
  20. What kind of Cubs tat did you get and where did you put it? Just curious... It is a little distorted cuz my 6 yr old took the pic and it is swollen from just getting it yesterday, but it is the Cubs C with a baseball in the middle; bricks and ivy on the top and bottom of the stitches, and a 23 in the middle. Interestingly, I proposed to my wife the day that Neifi won the game for the Giants, the day after Moises hit a HR to win it for us in extras. Crazy couple of days. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g111/gerby23/cubtat.jpg Cool. I met my Wife in the bleachers. Couldn't marry anyone that wasn't a Cubs fan and that didn't like baseball. My Wife pretty much knows that I'm a model husband from October thru the start of April, but during baseball season it's all about the Cubs.
  21. I hope they get the game in. I'm going tonight!

  23. I'm positive about this series. I think we win this series for sure and get on a little role from there...
