  1. I say it right now. Hill will never be a effective starter. There I said it and I will stand by it. I hope that I'm wrong....I really do. But he's already an effective starter at AAA, so what are you basing this on? Key word being AAA...The minors are filled with effective minor league starters who never made it in the big leagues. I think Hill will be best suited as a lefty specialist if he can gain some sort of control. What's with all this Hill love? What has he shown that leads you people to believe he'll be a good starter in the ML?
  2. I'm not advocating Rusch another shot. You can give him 10 more shots and he'll pitch 2 decent games out of them. I'm just saying we don't have anyone better at this moment. What's with all the anger?

  4. Struggling with control is part of the struggles of a young pitcher. It's not worth the argument because you haven't made a lick of sense if you insistence that Rusch is the only option. Again, if we had a pitcher in the Minors that is clearly ready for the show then by all means bring him up! But we don't and here we are...
  5. Or the Cubs get our hopes up and have a good series. You never know with this team, but they one thing you can count on is they'll let you down when it counts. Sheez....What a depressing year!
  6. I don't want Rusch starting tonight, but again who else do we have? What do we do Bring up Hill for another walk filled start and send him back down? I mean what choice do we have... What choice do we have? I just listed several options. You're acting as if Rusch is the only guy the Cubs can have start tonight. Rusch sucks at baseball and he's proven that again this year. He shouldn't be starting. You haven't listed options. Hill just started Sunday and would be pitching on 4 days rest. Marmol just Pitched Tuesday and we are going to need him on Sunday. Gooz needs another year of just pitching the ball in the minors. So again there is no choice besides Rusch. ...Williams, Ryu, etc. Please stop pretending like Rusch is the only option. It's just ignorant. Williams, Ryu etc...These aren't options! Look, I can't stand Rusch but I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe that any of the pitchers you listed can do any better. It's not being ignorant, just realistic, as sad as that might be.

  8. I don't want Rusch starting tonight, but again who else do we have? What do we do Bring up Hill for another walk filled start and send him back down? I mean what choice do we have... You have the choice of calling up the kids and actually giving them a chance to work through struggles. It's pretty simple really. Rusch is not the only option. I agree with Kids working through struggles. I have no problem with that and welcome that. I mean what ML pitcher hasn't struggled comming up through the system, but I can't tolorate a pitcher who can't even get the ball over the plate. It's really not worth the argument.

  10. Wood is not going to start on Sunday you can book it. The guy is seeing a the doctor about his arm as we speak. Murmol will start on Sunday. Except Hill won't give up 3 runs in 5 innings. He'll give up 6 runs in 2 innings.
  11. Who do you have in mind? Hill, Guzman, Marmol, me, you. Seriously, Glendon sucks and everyone knows that he sucks. While Hill has sucked at the major league level, there's the chance that he might pitch well. Gooz might pitch well. Marmol might pitch well. With Glendon, you know what you're getting - a crappy pitcher. It's stupid to trot him out there instead of a pitcher that hasn't proven to be a bad starter. Marmol is pitching Sunday and Hill and Guzman can't make it out of the 3rd inning. Glendon last start was very good vs. the Cards. He's your only choice. Um, very good? He gave up 3 runs in 5 innings. That's not very good. That's not good. That's not average. That's bad. Marmol is pitching Sunday? I hadn't heard that, where did you see that? EDIT: And I don't disagree with you on Hill - he has been horrible in the bulk of his starts. But, he still hasn't really had too much of an opportunity. Rusch has had what, 10 years of opportunities to prove himself? While I think that people WAY overrate Hill, I'd much rather see him start than Rusch. Marmol is taking Wood's spot on Sunday. Look at today Suntimes and Trib. Hill and Guzman can't pitch stikes and against the Reds they won't make it out of the first couple of innings.

When has either Hill and Guzman looked even remotely comfortable on the ML level. Hill looks like a deer in the head lights every time he takes the mound.
  13. You are disgusted right now? I've been disgusted since 04
  14. Don't give me this settle down crap. The Cubs are being no hit (yes, no hit, that was an error) against a very bad pitcher. They are a pathetic bunch of morons with a terrible approach led by a clueless manager and neanderthal GM who is more interested in bodies than baseball players. They are the worst offense in baseball and have had the same problems, that have never been addressed, for several years. Don't tell me to settle down because they'll eventually get to him and are only down 1-0. That gave me a laugh :) The sad part is, it's true. So much for getting to Sampson haahaha, this team is a JOKE! A joke is funny. This team isn't even funny. Funny? Funny how? Like a clown?
  15. That's about the only positive, but I agree he looked good, and he'll keep getting better and better as long as he keeps away from Larry.
  16. Might as well be 9 more innings. Doesn't matter we won't come back in this one...
  17. funny how that's the only thing Steve Stone could think of to say that is positive about the current Cubs.
  18. Well at least we got a week of good baseball this year.
  19. When you don't hit in general, you can't expect to hit in certain situations either. ESPN guys said the Cubs are hitting around .150 as a team with 2 outs and RISP That's as bad as it get's for a Major league team. That's is just aweful!
