  1. God damn! It's good to be King!
  2. I saw LeBron before the game and I asked for $1. He gave me $.75. I said "Where's the rest"? He replied "I don't have a 4th quarter".
  3. I mean are we that far away to contend next year? Especially if Pujols leaves the cards and Fielder is a goner in Milwaukee.
  4. That's every message board. You are always going to get your smart-asses.
  5. Yes. That happened when the site was hacked last year. Search and many of the moderators' tools weren't working either. A week or so ago Tim upgraded to the latest edition of PhpBB and that fixed the problems. What the [expletive]?!? That's crazy. Didn't you guys do any research to fix the issue? Why didn't you reach out to the user base to see if anyone has phpbb knowledge? There's ton of people out there who you could higher to fix the problem dirt cheap? That's maddening. Yeah - I was perplexed for a long time. I did two complete reinstalls of the system during the past year without any success fixing the problems. I had even enlisted the help of my ISP at one point to see if there were something left behind during one of the hack attacks we've suffered. I know phpbb isn't some arcane system - I've installed quite a few boards over the years for myself and others over the years. It still isn't working the way that I'd like, but I've isolated the problem to the interaction of the board with the joomla system on the front end of the site. Since I'm not currently putting anything into that part of the site, I am just running without any integration between the two right now, which has addressed the issue for the time being. Perhaps when I get around to upgrading that to j1.6 I can get them tied together again. Why not just take the front page down? It'll be one less hassle for you.

  7. I think with the front page Tim was hoping other members would contribute and eventually get some good content up there. and of course you have another page to place ads on. It obviously didn't pan out, but not all ideas do.
  8. And the ranking is still holding steady.
  9. Is Tim the sole owner of this site? I'm just asking because running a site by yourself is massively time consuming. I'd suggest he maybe partner with someone or if he has someone he can trust to give them admin rights. As a site owner I can't fathom running and maintaining it by yourself. I have a equal partner and we share the roles. I'd go insane if I had to do everything myself. Just a suggestion... BTW - I think this thread should really be in the suggestion forum.
  10. That is another interesting point. I wonder where baseball will be in 20 years. I have two teenage boys. They grew up with me being a pretty rabid Cub fan. They could care less about baseball. The both play ice hockey...so they like sports. But baseball does nothing for them. Baseball is really a hard sell to kids. They have so many diversions and cool things to do. Sitting still and watching a baseball game is not on the list. I know that there are some kids that are into it....I'm not saying its in a death spiral. But alot of the fans these days are older people who grew up with it in a different time. I hear/read that baseball has never been stronger and all that. I just don't see who is going to replace the fans of today over the next 20-30 years. I guess we shall see. I don't think it's a hard sell at all and baseball will always have their fans. All sports go through lulls. You can't base your information on your own kids. Small sample.
  11. Age has nothing to do with it. Of course not. It's just a big coincidence that a very sizable majority of the people in this thread were between 13 and 25 the last time they really felt the Cubs' fire for multiple seasons. I'm 34 years old. I was older than your age range when the board was created. You're really making things up here. Maybe getting older has to do with people spending less time on the board, but not for caring about baseball. 1984 was just as painful as 2003 for me. Hell, 2003 might of been worse.
  12. Age has nothing to do with it.
  13. Thank god for the social forum! Sorry imb!
  14. This. Buffalo Joes in Evanston. My vote goes to Mango Habanero if I have to go to BWW.
  15. What is Danks problem? So he threw his bat down out of frustration. So what?!
  16. On that second dunk I screamed at the top of my lungs, did a full roundhouse (Chuck Norris style), and kicked in my TV.
  17. Beer and Wine are chilling. Just waiting for my Wife to get back from her Business trip.
  18. He's in AAA now and on the DL. Groin
  19. Hey Tim the newest Tapatalk version just came out and I updated my board with it. It's very, very slick and it's optimized for the IPAD now. It correct a ton of past errors. Just wanted to let you know... Also, your mods can moderate from it now.
  20. Now the worst record in baseball. I take it back.
  21. Sox are now 8 below .500. I still think they win that division.
  22. Listening to Murphy this morning and he seems hell bent on getting Fielder. I'd love to see him at first base, but he's going to eat himself into a DH.
