  1. Not interesting at all. Ricketts is the owner and I'm sure he has to convince Theo on his plans and direction of the team.
  2. If he's serious about wanting to stay if it looks like they're trying to contend maybe he'd be willing to sign on the (relative) cheap with the Theo pick and, ideally, a signing of Pujols or Fielder. He took a pretty decent discount before, so maybe he'd be willing to do again. Sure would be awesome. This is his chance at one last big contract. He's cashing out. Don't be too sure. Everyone expected him to either jump ship or break the bank if he came back for 2007 and neither happened. There's a reason why he left a clause in his contract. Sure he went on the cheap last time, but he did so with a back door. If anyone outbids us he's as good as gone.
  3. But not quite the perfection of Titanic that year.

  5. Yeah, I feel bad for the people that can only dwell on the playoff sweep. Yes, the ending sucked, but it's a long baseball season ahead of it, and it was pretty [expletive] great. Except for the ending. It's like a great movie and ruined by a crappy ending. It just ruins what went before it. No. 2008 was like LA Confidential; an amazing, nearly perfect film that I can shut off 5 minutes before it ends and still love. But it still stings every time you shut it off doesn't it.

  7. Trolling? Just stating my feelings is all. That's what makes you such a consummate professional. Thank you bro. O'kay enough about me and my sexy. Let's get back to Theo.
  8. 9 consecutive playoff losses. Pathetic.
  9. Trolling? Just stating my feelings is all.
  10. I get emotionally invested in the playoffs but, in a rational sense, barely care about them. That was arguably the best team in baseball and definitely the best team in the NL and I still look back on that year very fondly. I don't. Those playoffs were embarrassing.
  11. I look back more fondly at 2008 and getting swept, than 2004 and the abortion that was the end of that year. Yeah, last year was limp inducing.
  12. And we got swept. Yeah, those are memories to jerk off to.
  13. I just don't see the need on three theo threads when they are all basically the same thing. I thought NSBB was all about less threads. Just an observation that's all. This thread is not like the other threads. This is a silly thread. We aren't posting articles or having serious discussion here. Than I see you in a lot of silly threads.
  14. I hope your TV explodes and you can't get another one for like a week and are stuck watching some standard def backup. Like I only have one HDTV. Please.
  15. GM's don't wear men's pajamas. Get a suit and a tie.
  16. It's all going down today. According to John Dennis of WEEI in Boston, the Red Sox and Cubs will start talks regarding compensation for Theo Epstein on Thursday. And if the compensation talks fall through? Never know what will happen. There is still plenty of time for a change of heart. Relax people. Just don't want to see your hearts all broken.
  17. Best post ever. And sexiest.
  18. THAT is the moment when we can start celebrating. Agreed. I'm not getting my hopes up yet until the process goes a littler farther. For the love of [expletive]. And don't forget even after Cherington is named GM, Theo can still come back and become the new, new GM and demote him. Endless possibly here folks.
  19. THAT is the moment when we can start celebrating. The champagne is chilling.
  20. And with (hopefully) Pujols and Fielder leaving why not us? I still gotta feeling Pujols is going to stay. How many big market teams need a first baseman besides us?
  21. and a little wood. Admit it.
  22. Oh man, I remember having his scouting report from B.A. just printed out and carrying it around in my pocket. I still do!
  23. For me the closest thing is the Bears getting Cutler. Mark Prior But Prior didn't have a track record in the majors. Cutler was a young NFL QB with a few years under his belt. Theo is a young, highly touted GM with a couple WS wins under his belt. Prior wasn't the same...for me. Remember us hanging on his every pinch in the minors? The Prior signing was pretty damn exciting. Probably the best Cub moment until now. If the deal gets completed.
  24. Can it be just you? But I am of the joyous throngs. You are the heretic. Fair enough
  25. Can it be just you? you are the worst I'm sorry maybe the next sacrifice someone will include you.
