    I think Dusty should clone Neffi enough times to play him at every position. This includes a couple of bench warming clones so he can pinch hit Neffi for Neffi.

    Since when have the cubs been competing? Since the Cubs challenged them for the worst in show competition. If Oliver Perez wouldn't keep showing us that things in fact can get worse than they are with him, maybe the Cubs would win that contest. If only he could have gone the distance and given up 7 runs (a bad outing to be sure), we could have won that game yesterday!

    Bump Freddy is 3 for 5 so far tonight. Outside chance of another at bat. Hitting .354 as I type this.

    Time to start writing in Freddy Sanchez. As of this morning, he's leading the league in hitting. (OK, so the guy right behind him is also a third baseman and has better overal numbers). Vote for Freddy!

    GREAT WIN FOR US! That's a 4 game sweep, coming of taking two of three from the 'Stros. (We lost 2 of 3 to the Rats? We better sign Clemons NOW!) Castillo drove in the tying run, jose hernandez was that run! OK, so he was a pinch runner for Burnitz. Burnitz got a clutch hit! WOW! The Friars are in town next. Chan Ho Park tomorrow against Ollie, Peavy Vs. Duke, I think. I'd have loved to see Ollie Vs. Peavy. We tried to get Peavy instead of Ollie for Giles. Didn't turn out that bad, at least for one season. It would be fun to see them face off against each other.

    Question: If we trade Jeromy Burnitz back to you guys because Jones and Piere aren't working out, and we're 2 games ahead of you in the standings, is that still a firesale or a call up from AAAA?

    Which means it's about time for you guys to trade them all away so you won't have to pay them. You're not paying attention. Bay & Jack Wilson signed some expensive (for us) contract extensions this previous off season. No one is going anywhere just for the sake of dumping salary.

    Dude, Jack Wilson's line is 312/349/462/812. His career line is 266/306/374/680. I'm not sure that you can really ask for much more from him. Duh. I have no idea what I was thinking when I typed that.

    Who are you giving us for Wilson?

    OK, so we've had a good couple of weeks.... Jason Bay has been player of the week for two weeks running. (Soon, there will be a player of Tuesday award.) Jack Wilson is hitting over 300. So is Freddie Sanchez. So is Jose Castillo (Yes, really!). Including Bay and Casey, that gives us five regulars in the line up. Oh, Ronnie Paulino is hitting .302 (Just looked it up). That's six. With 116 ABs, so it's becoming less of a fluke. An unexpected surpise that no one is expecting to last. But, at least he can keep his avg. in the upper 200s, that'd be a bonus. And, the starting pitching is coming together. We just had 5 quality starts in a row. (Would have been a five game winning streak if not for a Gonzalez meltdown on Sunday.) Burnitz and his low 200s avg are now being platooned W/ Craig Wilson, giving him more ABs. This, more or less, is how I thought (hoped?) we'd play this year. There's a lot of young talent on this team. If Tracy would just stop screwing it up, we could win a few more ball games. OK, I'm done with my kool-aid.

    He only gave Sanchez a chance because Randa is hurt. Both Tracy & Littlefield are saying that once Randa is healthy, he & his .220 batting average will resume the starting role at 3b, and Freddy Sanchez, who, as I type this, is second in the NL in batting average will go to the bench. Sanchez, by virtue of his play last year, earned the right to compete for the 3b job this year. But he was never given a chance. Who cares that he won't hit 20 HRs this year.

    He's making up for a month of serious suckage. Casey's back. And now Bay is hitting. Casey, Bay Sanchez isn't the worst 3-4-5 in the history of the game, is it. Now, if only Jack Wilson could start hitting. And, Craig Wilson getting more ABs int he sixth spot and getting time in Right field. And, Ollie pitching like he did. And... We might win more games than we lose from here to the end of the season. Oh, wait. As soon as Randa is healthy, he's going to reclaim his starting position. And, Burtiz will get his ABs. Would you guys take Jim Tracy in trade for Dusty?

    While I'd never tell you Dave Williams is a potential Cy Young candidate, he did win over 10 games last year and had a winning record on a rather pathetic team. I don't think he's really as bad as he's been for the reds. I think he'll do a lot better for the Mets. 20 game winner? Never. Servicable pitcher/inning eater? Probably.

    Hmmmm. If Tracy & Co can take a great pitcher and make him oridnary to bad (see Ollie, Duke) I wonder what they could do to Rusch.

    You won't pass us. We're determined to put Randa back in the line up and replace Sanchez, who, for lack of 14 ABs, would be the second best hitter in the NL. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06146/693312-63.stm Lloyd used to say the players make the lineups. This obviously isn't the case under the new regieme.
