  1. Yeah, that was a real deal.
  2. Kip Wells had a quality start tonight! 7 innings, one run. Left with the score tied. As this hasn't happened in so long, it should be duly noted!
  3. Good thing for the other top pick teams that the Pirates will draft on signability rather than choosing the best player. Hasn't been the case for a couple of years now. Not since JJ Davis. Who is JJ Davis, you would ask. Exactly, would be my answer.
  4. For next June's draft!
  5. Does this mean C. Wilson for A. Reyes is back on?
  6. Cool! Thanks!
  7. There was a play in the 8th (I think) in which Endy Chavez slid into home. The Pirates thought he was out, the Mets thought he was safe. The Ump ruled him safe. Anyone see a replay and have an opinion :?: :?:
  8. So uh....countdown until he's traded? ??? He's not even eligible for Arbitration yet.
  9. Has the League leader in BA ever played for a last place team?
  10. And Contreras dodges an L. How 'Bout Steady Freddy? 4 for 5, raising his avg to .363, including that walk off HR!
  11. I'm not so sure. Maybe we just salvaged our season today. Voglesong was DFA'd. Maybe we'll win some games now.
  12. So far, we've lost 11 in a row. From today's Post-Gazette: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06178/701414-63.stm Check out the pitching: Chicago's rotation will be Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia and Jose Contreras, whose cumulative record is 25-8. Contreras, the brilliant Cuban import making headlines with his 8-0 start, has lost once in his past 25 outings dating to last season. Detroit has Kenny Rogers, the winningest pitcher in the American League at 10-3, opening that series Friday. He is followed by dynamic youngsters Jeremy Bonderman and Zach Miner, a combined 11-5. And the first two games at Shea Stadium? Yes, Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine, who annihilated the Pirates there two months ago. Traschel throws for the Mets this Sunday. Maybe we have a chance to stop the streak at 19. Also check out: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06178/701415-63.stm That first overall pick has been locked up.
  13. We're only a game and a half up on the royals. I'm sure we can catch them!
  14. We're kicking your ass on this one. 10 in a row! (Or is it 11? I've stopped counting) And, the ChiSox coming to town tomorrow! We'll have that first pick sewn up before the all-star break! Which will use on a Pitcher. Who will blow his arm out before ever throwing a pitch in the majors. #-o ](*,)
  15. How do you sleep at night? It's been 14 seasons. Although, this is only my 10th, (and final season, Thank Kent) Although, I think I'll still root for them in my new home. Can't root for the Phillys.
  16. Get off the wagon. We win this contest. We were swept by the Royals. Need I say more?
  17. Its a great ballpark. I went a couple of years ago, I think 2002 when Don Baylor was still there. I got to see him ruin Jon Lieber by having him re-take the mound after a two hour rain delay. But a great ballpark. Not a bad seat in the house. The ballpark is so nice that most people who go there don't go for the baseball. Go on a nice night, get a seat along the third base side with a view of downtown, grab a beer, a hot dog. It's so pleasent, it doesn't matter how much the team sucks. I'll be at Wrigley on August 4th (Or what ever the saturday of that weekend is) to see the two worst teams in the NL Central.
  18. Actually, heading into the previous weekend, we had a wining record at home. But, don't worry. Our ineptitude on the road will more than make up for this. Remember, we just lost two in a row to KC. Need I say more?
  19. Ha! We got you beat!
  20. Thank you?Somehow, that just doesn't convey what I'm thinking.
  21. I'll say it, its embarassing. Agreed.
  22. Wow. I don't know what to say.
  23. I kind of liked it tonight! :-) Let's see what happens tomorrow. Why panic. You're still in first place? :-) :-) :ducks:
