  1. FWIW, the Blue Jays' winning percentage jumped .040 after the Lilly-Gibbons brawl.
  2. Perhaps I spoke too soon. Maybe I should have gone with hard liquor.
  3. Lucky you! I wish I can have a couple of beers to numb the pain. If there's one thing being a Cubs fan has taught me, it's this: "Always keep beer in the fridge and a spare pack of cigarettes in your nightstand." I think I proved my point.

  5. Its time to move on from this guy. He's the Jacque Jones of this season with more errors. Due to the fact that we already have a Jones on the team, time to part ways. There's a lot of crap on this team that we need to part ways with. Agreed. I'd start with everyone. regardless of position, age, or production. A fresh start would be sweet. I'd start with Hendry, Lou, and Mark O'Neil. With those guys gone, we can afford to try and rebuild with a core of DLee, Aramis, and Hill.
  6. Given the way everybody has been struggling, are you really going to imply that he had a perfect line of sight on the baseball at all times? He saw it well enough he thought he could make a play. He was wrong. But that doesn't mean he saw the ball just fine. And given the problems people have been having with the sun, I'd say it's fair to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  7. I'm right here dude. I've been here the whole time. He's still the 2nd best OF on the team. No one likes you. 2nd best OF lol. Fans like you are content with below average players. Only a below average player misplayed that ball Pop quiz hotshot. How many players went the entirety of last season without an error? I'd be willing to be the farm far more than half made errors, so making one doesn't necessarily make a person a below average player. Thanks for playing, but we have a fabulous consolation prize for you... what is it John? It's a box of Maximum Strength Midol! http://members.aol.com/montaukny/myhomepage/midol.jpg
  8. wow, that's classy. What happened? Just got back to my desk. The Cubs needed Murton to play regularly and play well, he's not playing regularly and he's not playing well either. He's looked pretty poor out in the field. It's been said before, but that just reiterates the point the Cubs don't have a single OF playing where he should be playing. And they've got a couple guys on the infield who aren't ideal for their position either. Lee and Ramirez are the only everyday players playing where they belong everyday. Regardless if he plays once a year. A MLB player should be able to catch a routine fly ball. Yeah, he should. But playing out of position and dealing with the sun made that far from routine for Murton.
  9. Thanks for the support, Sally. Problem is, Cubs fans love him as the LFer he is, not the RFer Lou is trying to make him. There's nothing inherently wrong with Murton and the way he plays the game. The problem is that Lou is trying to put the jigsaw puzzle together by hammering on the pieces until they fit.
  10. Good start on the fake comeback.
  11. I think this is as good a time as any to start getting drunk.
  12. Why are we sac bunting with Z in the 3rd inning?
  13. Alex Rios saw 3.90 P/PA in 2006, and is at 3.71 in 2007. Cliff Floyd, 3.53 and 3.46 Jacque Jones, 3.65 and 3.64 Matt Murton, 3.71 and 3.71 Alex Rios sees more than enough pitches.
  14. I had similar speculation the other day when Barrett wasn't in the lineup. I made the crazy speculation that he was being traded to the Cardinals since Molina is out for some time. Last I heard, they were working on Jason LaRue.
  15. What does this have to do with Moises? I was thinking Carl Everett. Originally I went with Lenny Dykstra, but decided to drop retired people from consideration... and I think Crazy Carl is retired now, isn't he?
  16. Excellent article, though I hardly find that surprising coming from you, Bruce.
  17. Certainly Blanco's offense is terrible, but he's still a well-respected defensive catcher and really puts Barrett to shame in that department. The real problem isn't that we might have to play a defense-only catcher. Many teams do, and they win with it. It's just that the rest of our offense down in the order is so terrible it creates a black hole 7,8,9. I'm getting sick of watching Barrett throw games down the toilet so either he needs to get his head out of his ass or we need another catcher. If you think you're sick of Barrett making a boneheaded mistake every few games, wait until you get that sinking feeling in your chest when Blanco is coming up to bat in crucial situations... which is likely to happen much more often than Barrett getting picked off.
  18. While bringing up Hill over Soto is a braindead move, all will be forgiven if this is the end of Miller or Eyre on the Cubs.
  19. What makes me sick is that Gonzalez saw right through Benitez and decided to keep Gregg as the closer. We could've signed Gonzalez in the offseason, you know. We got Lou instead.
  20. A lot of people were pretty pissed when Colvin was taken, but I have yet to see the anti-Colvin bandwagon in the Minor League forum this year. count me in. I don't believe he'll be a productive major league ballplayer. I don't think he sees enough pitches to be more than a solid fourth outfielder.
  21. If memory serves, Burgess is expected to have pretty high contract demands. I don't expect him to fall to us in the supplemental round, but I wouldn't be shocked out of my pants.
  22. Why so cold on Moustakas? I wouldn't quite say I'm cold on him, as I'd be okay with him at #3, but he doesn't seem to have the upside of Heyward or the low risk of Wieters. While Vitters is the same way, I think he comes closer in the risk category than Moustakas.
